We stop here every time we visit Tofino! Never been anything but impressed. It's definitely high on my list of recommendations.

The only thing that kept running through my mind is ... This pizza has got such GREAT POTENTIAL!! From the start... everything was great... The staff was very polite. It was easy to place the order. .. Then we got our pizza.... It tasted good.. the toppings were fresh, the crust had good texture, but there was something missing.. It needed a little extra flavor ... maybe something like oregano, thymze, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, or pepper... I rounded up from 3.5 stars because I don't think it won't take much for them to get where they need to be. Like i said... Great Potential!! read more

Its only open 10-4 Weds to Saturday right now. Thursday you can pre order stuff and they stay open later. They roast and carve their own meats, bake their own (excellent) bread, and use high quality stuff. Sandwiches are 11$ but very worth it. Could serve 2 non glutons. A lot of the reviews on other sites say this place has the best pizza on earth. Don't get me wrong, its good, but I certainly have had better. One thing to note is its take out only. There isn't any seating there. If you plan to eat back at your hotel and don't feel like cooking this is a great place to grab a pizza. It's best to call ahead and order though. read more

Food that is tasty, easy, and cheap (at least for Tofino). We went twice in three days. Red Can offers a variety of 'gourmet' foods but is best known for their pizza. The variety of toppings and the quality thereof is excellent - everything from artichokes to feta to Calabrese salami. We ordered a bunch of different pizzas (all of which were good) but I give a special recommendation to any pie based on banana peppers and chorizo - spicy and flavorful. The only downside is that the pizza dough itself is nothing special. Not crispy and thin (New York), light and chewy (Neopolitan), or thick and crusty (Chicago) it kind of sits in this no man's land in between that allows them to pile on a bunch of cheese and toppings. Lastly, the owner and staff are cool and helpful (though it is hard to speak of service in a 'take out'/counter service only restaurant). And despite what some of the earlier reviews state, they added some tables inside in addition to the picnic benches in front. read more

Is there a button for 10 stars? We had the pulled pork and beef dip. I think these are the 2 best sandwiches I have ever eaten in my entire life. I can not choose a favourite, its too hard. I love Tofino and the surf but this was the highlight of the trip haha. read more

We had a fantastic breakfast here. This is a must stop for breakfast or brunch. All the food I saw coming out of the kitchen spoke to me, saying "come back again, you need to eat me" I spoke back saying I would eat it soon. My wife flashed me a naughty smile. Argh I wanna give this place a 3.5 so bad! But for me friendly service always makes me vote a lil higher so well done for that :) turning of a lame as ludacris song eon you an extra star! Nice little place with great friendly staff thats is take out orientated, however my family ate at one of the two picnic tables outside. The Place had 2 extremely friendly labs giving it a very dog friendly vibe for our own dog. Food was delicious and very filling, I personally suggest the macaroni on top of pulled pork, and their pizza. Decent prices for very worthy meals. Would highly recommend. read more

I'm sad I didn't try anything else but the pizza. It was so amazing we got it again on the second day. Crust was so melt in your mouth good with the secret ingredient being a light sprinkle of rock salt embedded on the bottom. This is the very best pie I've had, ever! Very original recipes and the chef and the soups chefs are gents with good sense of humour and fine attention to details on the flavours. The chowder was incredible but can be oily for some individuals, the dirty Mac and cheese was filling and very tasty if you are into flavours. read more

We had the best sandwich ever here. It was made with the freshest ingredients and the bread was out of this world. One sandwich was more than enough for the two of us. We went back the next day but they had closed earlier than we expected. We will definitely be returning the next time we visit Tofino. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect here, but after a day of hiking and not wanting to eat out, we ordered a pizza from here. There's no indoor seating, just picnic tables, so don't expect to eat in unless you want to eat outside. The pizza was pretty excellent, though. It comes with four toppings, which include some interesting toppings. I wish I could've staying Tofino longer. I would come back here. read more

Everything here is First rate. The albacore salad and sandwiches, the breakfast pizza and the bakery items. All done to a very high level. Limited seating outdoors only but the food makes this definitely worth a visit. We also are at taco fino, the fish shop and the pointe. The fish shop is ok, and the pointe very good but very high end. My favs were taco fino and red can. But tacofjno is just lunch and this is pretty much everything. read more

This food is delicious! Don't limit yourself to pizza - the specialty sandwiches and burgers are truly a cut above - everything is homemade. You can walk down to tofino brewery and grab a growler to go to pair with your meal. Chocolate mousse is the bomb!! Came in on a hot day and with some hungry passengers. The food was amazing - the dirty Mac and cheese is rich and tasty, with an excellent side salad and bread. I was thinking about having a sandwich, but Chef Tim recommended the burger...it was a good recommendation - two patties, bacon, cheese, all cooked to perfection- one of the best burgers I ever had. We researched some of the best Tofino restaurants to try out before our trip, and from the reviews I read, this place was at the top of the list. What I didn't quite understand at the time though was it's primarily a catering/takeout food restaurant; there are no seats inside the totally non-descript building...just a couple of picnic tables and benches outside. So when I emailed Tim (the owner/chef) about ordering ahead of time, we were assuming we'd bring it back to our Lodge to eat, which would have been fine. However, our experience turned out to be so much more! I emailed Tim asking him about what the menu would be the day we were arriving (as it changes all the time, depending on what's fresh and in-season). He said there were individual items on the menu, but he also does a set-menu each night, and when I inquired about that, I was amazed at how many dishes you get, and how wonderfully detailed each one sounded, so "set-menu" it was! When we arrived to pick up our order, we noticed the one of the two picnic tables outside was free, so we snagged that and decided to eat there, since it was sunny out and then we could eat on plates and not have to use all that unenvironmentally friendly takeout containers. I think we were very lucky with our timing, as several people arrived shortly after us to takeout their food, but perhaps would have sat down if it were available. Not a very picturesque setting, but I find food always tastes better when you eat outside...not sure why that is. Anyway, the food: 4 different appetizers/salads, including local spot prawns (which I love!), the main course of perfectly cooked beef tenderloin, local baby potatoes, and a medley of roasted local yams & beets. Tim had some leftover things from some other meals he was creating and decided to add them as additional dishes to our meal: a shallot reduction and a bearnaise sauce, both perfect additions to for the potatoes and the beef tenderloin. It took an already terrific meal to an otherworldly level. For dessert, dark Belgian chocolate ganache brownies that actually came across as closer to fudge than brownies, but we were too stuffed to eat them anyway. We had them the next day with coffee and that was amazing. All in all, great service, great food, unusual but inspiring setting, and all at a reasonable price. I would absolutely go back again next time we're in Tofino. Just be sure to call ahead and order; if you stop by spur of the moment...be prepared to wait. read more

Heard about a good take out place in Tofino recently opened by an experienced chef. After eating out for five nights we just wanted to enjoy our beautiful hotel room and have a good meal without going out to a restaurant. Stopped by the RedCan Gourmet for food to take back to our hotel. We loved our meal. Linguine with mushrooms, spinach and cheese and a delicious salad for me and a really good pizza for my husband. Great place to pick up lunch to take out fishing or for a picnic. Also, heard Chef Tim May will prepare your catch for you. After a fun afternoon fishing, this was a great way to end our day. read more
