Jeff did a great job on my springer spaniel puppy who is 7 months old and starting to shed her winter coat. He took his time and gave her a beautiful natural cut. I have taken my dog to other places that seem like they are in a rush in Halifax and wanted someone who would trim my dog and give her a Springer cut, not just shave her short for summer. I like that he took the time to discuss what I was looking for. He did a really nice job shaping and trimming her ears and 'feathers' on her legs. Everything was blended nicely. My dog does not like the blow dryer and can be nervous but she was treated well, given treats and she was happy when I picked her up. The only two reviews on this business' profile thus far is dated three and six years ago! So this is one in need of an update. I visited this establishment to get my three cats groomed recently. Their website is simple and easy to navigate, as it should be for a business of this nature. No issues at all with using their website to submit an appt request. They were excellent with phonecall follow ups as well. Once scheduled, I brought my kitties over about 10 minutes ahead of my appt time to get them registered as new customers. Although I have accompanied friends with pets to groomers in the past; this was my first time taking my three kittens to a groomer. They were very patient in explaining all the procedures, I left my cats in their care feeling very safe and confident that they were in good hands. I returned slightly ahead of the agreed upon time to retrieve my furbabies. I was very pleased that they had no problems with me observing them work. Their work area room had a half door, so the lower door was closed while the upper door was left wide open. I was very happy to observe their work area was very clean! Watching them work, it was clear that they were keen to keep my cats safe and comfortable. I never got the impression that they were rushing. Once I had retrieved my kitties and paid for their services. They were again very patient in answering my questions, they were in no hurry at all to make me leave. This was a very pleasant first time grooming experience for me and my cats. I would definitely bring my furbabies back here again!!! read more

I've been taking our dogs to Jeff & Co for many, many, years. They are always straight forward with you and listen to your requirements. Our Border Collie loved going there and was always well groomed. Since he has passed our two newer dogs have been going - Campbell for ~5+yrs and Hermione now for 2+ yrs. These 2 are smaller dogs and the cuts for them is really excellent. You do get a deal on pricing if you book your dogs for regular-spaced appointments. They always call you in advance of your appointments regardless of the appointment type to ensure you are still on. Something I really appreciate is that we can also leave our dogs there for the day; we live out of town and work in town. We drop them off first thing and then pick them up end of day. There is no additional charge for this which is much appreciated. Final touch is the nice scarves they have on when you pick them up - they look like they have just been to the spa! I highly recommend Jeff and Company. Note: cash or debit card only, as the fees for small businesses like Jeff's cannot absorb the unreal, money-grabbing, credit card fees. ;) read more

I called to book an appointment for my dog, and the lady on the phone was so rude to me. Once she heard my dogs name she refused me, and told me to go somewhere else because we had a few no shows. This is still a business and she is obligated to schedule me in because my dog needed grooming. This is no way to talk to customers on the phone. I will gladly take my dog somewhere else. People need to be alot more kind. read more

This place might be okay for dog grooming, but they shouldn't even advertise that they can groom cats. I had an "off" feeling after dropping off my beautiful Himalayan, Clark, to get groomed yesterday. I had previously told Jeff that Clark has had issues with being groomed, and that he may be stressed. 30 minutes after I got home, I was called and told that Clark seemed very stressed, and they would need me to come in to help hold him while they finished. Upon arriving, and entering the back room, I find the table they are using is next to six dog kennels, four of which had barking dogs in them. Obviously my cat would be stressed. We asked if there was another room we could go in, and were told that they always have the cats and dogs in the same room. Anyone else find this odd? Not only was this not sitting right with me, but the room was absolutely disgusting. The window was covered in old hair, to the point of it looking like cobwebs. A few kennels were also covered. They said to "excuse the mess" because it had been a busy day, but this was WAY beyond one day of grooming. We tried to finish Clark's grooming, but after the dogs kept barking, and he attacked my hand out of fear, I told Jeff that we were done. Unfortunately I had to repeat myself another two times before he actually turned the trimmers off and moved them away from my cat. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

I brought my dog here before Christmas, as our usual groomer was booked up. While the staff here was very good about communicating- ie called me a couple of times to make sure pickup time was okay, and that they had to cut my dog's hair shorter because of some knotting- I was not satisfied with the finished product. For a website that boasts about the groomer's customers winning best in show, and the abilities of the groomer to do difficult cuts, my dog's cut was NOT impressive. She was basically shaven, which I had agreed was the best thing, but there were chunks of hair that were uneven, and strange little tufts of hair that were neglected. Her ears had not been trimmed (which was the only request I made), and her nails weren't trimmed- something that is usually a complimentary service at any other groomer I've gone to. Suffice it to say, I will not return to Pooch Parlour. read more
