Every time I go there, the service and the atmosphere has been mediocre. For a popcorn shop, I expect a store more colorful and joyful. However, it's always sad-looking inside. Candy bar is empty, no menu or any type of marketing at the register. I drove 30 minutes to get some popcorn, and I arrived and there was no one in store. Me and another family stood there for like 5 minutes until the guy came from back and it was mediocre sorry, he was having a/c problems. In addition, the service is just always meh. They never seem excited about the product or good at explaining the flavors. As for the popcorn, it was good. I got the dill pickle and jalapeño cheddar. I'll admit, after the COVID-19 Pandemic hit I was disappointed they weren't open. I waited and waited. I visited Poparazzi's Gourmet Popcorn since they were open and I was not impressed. The Popcorn Bar is back open and what I love the most is always entering the doors and smelling fresh popcorn. Pretty cool place. They have an overwhelming amount of flavors. I got 6 mini bags to create a gift basket. The Cowboy flavor is their popular flavor and was a big hit. They have some basic flavors and some extreme ones however, you cant go wrong with any. There are different size bags and gift boxes and tins. Great gift for a movie night type gift package. I wish I had found this place sooner! Can't stop eating the Pickled Cowboy (dill pickle flavor popcorn + ranch flavored popcorn) or Spicy Buffalo. Honorable mention goes to Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Pumpkin Spice. Basically, we sampled 4 flavors and ended up with bags of each one. What I like about this place versus other popcorn shops/bars in Houston: 1) The popcorn is fresh. Because the batches are made in bulk, the popcorn at some of the other places I have tried are often a little stale. 2) The "candied" popcorn is not drenched in a hardened candy shell. It's reasonably coated so you can taste the flavor without feeling like you're just eating flavored hard candy. 3) The "savory" popcorn is not overly seasoned - the flavors are spot on and not overwhelming. Dill pickle tastes just like dill pickle! I was happy to see that the place had good a good amount of people in it even 30 minutes before close. AMAZING popcorn. I have been coming here for my popcorn fix on and off for a few years. My favorite is the pickled cowboy and I can probably eat an entire medium size by myself in the span of a few hours. The reason for my 1 star is due to the fact that when I pulled up to the shop today, 11/27 at 4:50 PM, two people were chatting behind the counter not wearing masks. The shop did not feel safe to enter and the situation puts serious doubt in my mind about the environment that the popcorn is prepared in. ok, so I have found my 5-star popcorn heaven! They have a great selection going on here and a huge upside is you can sample as many as you want (no limit) which is great when you're going in wanting to buy several but want to make sure you like what you're buying first. I arrived just before they opened this morning and was assisted by young Miss Meredith; she is a fantastic salesperson. She is extremely informative and helpful and has excellent people skills. She seems very genuine (not like she HAS to be nice for her job). I really loved that my first experience here was with her. So as it turned out, it seems both Meredith and myself have quite the same taste when it comes to the sweeter flavors: we don't really dig extremely sweet, which is great because this helped in my selection and tastings. Here's what I tasted: Mac 'n cheese - cheesy & yummy Mojito - very sweet and didn't really find much of any minty lime flavor Cinnamon Toast Crunch - not too overbearing in sweetness and overall perfect! Peanut Butter w/ Chocolate - not extremely sweet, very peanut buttery with right amt of chocolate. Chocolate Mint - mint sneaks up on you and is perfect balance with the dark chocolate but still found it to be too sweet for my personal liking Dill Pickle - seriously very pickley tasting (LOL) and shockingly good! Fried Pickle - combo of dill pickle & kettle corn - interesting but did not really taste like fried pickle, lol Pickled Cowboy - combo of dill pickle & ranch - DELISH! SEE, so I did get a good sampling, not like the other place that limits you to 2. Plus I asked Meredith about combining White Cheddar with their Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper because I love Doc Popcorn's combo of White Cheddar & Cracked Pepper; she told me this combo would perfect because their White Cheddar is a Basil White Cheddar which I thought would be a totally killer combo too! So as it turned out, I ordered 5 bags: Mini Buffalo Wings (eating this now as I type & is super fantastic!), Mini Parmesan Garlic, Mini Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Junior Pickled Cowboy (could NOT pass this up) and Junior Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper w/ White Cheddar Combo. I must tell you that I nearly flipped to find out my order was just over $12! At the other place, I had picked up 8 bags, mostly minis & pd well over $32 plus my order was wrong! Another young lady bought a slew of bags & her order was under $30! Oh yeah, plus they had to make Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper because they were out, and the young man in the back came up front to let me know he was making a fresh batch & that it'd be just a few minutes (perfecto!) I am definitely going to tell my friends and family members about this place! I think you should give them a try. They are located on the northbound side of the 59 feder where the Genghis Grill and Kolache Factory are located. Seriously give them a try, because they are definitely worth it; plus the popcorn does taste really fresh and crispy, not stale or have an oily residue from sitting too long. I have been to swagger a few times and NEVER noticed this little gem, but now I am so happy that I have found it. I am in love with this place. I have purchased popcorn a few times from here and have never been disappointed. The reason I am writing this review now, today... is because I just started my 5-day water fast and had the most intense craving for their popcorn. Why? Because I ate all of my other goodies this week, so I wouldn't miss them, but I neglected to get my favorite flavored popcorns - banana pudding and Chicago-style. I had this craving for the cheesy goodness that is their Chicago-Style popcorn. Mid-fast day 1, I headed over there for an affordable, mini bag of yumminess (about $2.50?) and gobbled that bad boy on the way back to work. No regrets! Rating is more 3.5 stars but not impressed enough to round up. The shop is a bit scarce in product now meaning the Candy dispensers are empty, no decorative tins, and no displays. I know it's not due to COVID because the guy behind the counter didn't have a mask on. I got a junior Supreme and a small Chicago. The cheese on the Chicago was fantastic! The candied caramel on the Chicago and supreme was not that good. A lot of stale pieces and crumbs in the supreme. If it's is meant to be a premium product at a premium price I do not want a layer of crumbs. I would give it another try with different flavors but probably not anytime soon. read more

They have the best flavored popcorn in the city. Even though it's on the opposite side of the city from me I have to go every other week or so. They are numerous flavors to chose from. I like the cowboy dill and the baked potato. There price may be a little more than others but it's well worth it! It's located on Hwy 59 near the Lakewood church. Right now there is construction going on in that area so traffic can be a little congested. JusT turn on your music and cruise there. read more

I just discovered this place and I really love it. I've only been twice so far but I found that I loved every thing that I've tried. It's been the same guy there when I've gone both times and I noticed that he sanitizes his hands, wears his mask correctly, and takes extra precautions seriously. I really appreciated that. He's also given me solid recommendations both times and mixes the popcorn blends really well so you don't get a ton of one flavor but not the other. The attention to detail and friendliness really is nice! The popcorn is also really fresh. Someone else commented on the smell when you walk in the door - you can smell how fresh it is. Unlike the unsanitary appearing store and stale popcorn poparazzis serves. So far my favorite is the Buffalo wings and Tx heat. Check them out!! read more

There's an overwhelmingly large variety of flavors here, categorized as either savory and sweet. I stuck to the savory ones out of preference. My favs being the buffalo wings and bacon cheddar. Their flavored popcorn tastes true to its name, as you definitely can taste the Tabasco and ranch in the buffalo wing mix. Best of all are the reasonable prices, allowing you to easily grab a few small/mini-sized bags of different flavors. Awesome place for popcorn lovers!!! I've been meaning to write a review about this place and now that the school year is coming to close, I'll have some extra time on my hands...woo hoo!!! I've driven by this place wondering, "What is a popcorn bar? It couldn't be a bar full of popcorn could it?" Well curiosity got the best of me and I finally stopped by to check it out. I walked in not knowing what to expect and I am so happy that I stopped by because this has become one of my favorite places to grab a special treat for myself and others. The store is quite simple. There isn't much to the decor. They have their gift packaging items on display as well as a small self-serve by the pound candy selection. The thing that is the most amazing is the selection of popcorn flavors that they have. Unfortunately there's no visual as to what each flavor looks like and I don't know if they offer samples (I haven't tried asking yet), so you kind of go off what you believe the combination of flavors would taste like (they're pretty true to the name of the flavor). So far everything that I have tried from this place has not disappointed me. The flavors I have tried so far: Confetti (mixture of different fruit flavors...rainbow colored popcorn) Dill pickle (awesome!) Buffalo Wings (combination of the wing flavor and ranch flavored popcorn) Chocolate Peanut Butter (delicious) Pizza (tastes just like you think it would...addicting!) Recently tried this place because I had a Living Social deal. As soon as my friends and I visited the first time, we each went ahead and bought two more. We went in the morning around the time they opened so we were the first customers of the day. I am slightly disappointed in the fact that the popcorn is not as fresh as expected. You can see the tubs of popcorn in the back, and a lot of them seem like they haven't been touched in a while. However, the customer service at this place is phenomenal. Because my friends and I were overwhelmed by the choices available to us, we had to ask for several samples of a lot of the flavors on the menu and had to send the poor worker back and forth several times. Definitely ask for samples though - there were a lot of flavors I thought I'd like that turned out to be not so tasty in reality. Hands down, my favorite flavor is the cinnamon toast crunch kettle popcorn. I like the cheesecake flavor too. For a saltier flavor, their mac-and-cheese and ranch popcorns are pretty good. The chocolated popcorn menu is considerably pricier than the rest of the menu, but there are some amazing flavors like Snickers and Twix that are super good. I really like the fact that there were several sizes available. A junior is a decent size for one person, and a small can last my boyfriend and I two snack-times each. A group of four of us recently shared a medium for a movie-night in. They're well-priced as well; we were able to fit four small bags of popcorn into our $15 Living Social deal. The Popcorn Bar also offers gift baskets and popcorn tins personalized with your favorite sports team. I've also seen neat popcorn balls that you can give as small gifts as well. Be aware that The Popcorn Bar offers a free junior bag on your birthday! Simply bring your ID in, and you can have any non-chocolate popcorn for free. Also, if you see yourself frequenting this place, grab one of their reward cards. Every time you visit, you can scan it at the register. I really wanted to like Popcorn Bar. It's within walking distance from home (for me), the customer service is always outstanding, and Houston is in dire need of gourmet popcorn worth craving. Sadly, this just doesn't meet that last mark. As others have noted, the popcorn is mass-produced and stored in tubs. The sheer variety of flavors may demand this production model, but if you can't do it well why do it all subpar? I've been here about four times over the past year, each time hoping that a different flavor or different day of the week might yield a different experience, but I'm sure I've reached my limit. My particular grievance is with the caramel and candy types. The cheeses and powdery kind of flavors are tolerable, though the popcorn isn't exactly fresh. But the caramels and candies seem to deteriorate the most; if you eat more than five pieces you may find, like I did, that your teeth are no longer chewing because there is a hard layer of candy just sitting on top of your molars. I would really love if the Popcorn Bar reconceptualized their production model. I wouldn't mind waiting, as I have in Chicago at Garrett's Popcorn, for wonderfully fresh and flavored popcorn with fewer flavor options. read more

Stopped by to see if I could find a ketchup flavored popcorn, similar to what I've tried from Kernels in Canada (trust me, it's super good). Not only is this place no nonsense, but the staff are friendly and always willing to let you try samples, or recommend their favorites if you're intimidated by the huge menu. And though we have yet to try more than a few flavors here, the ones we've tried so far have been enough to have us coming back time and again, and net this place a 5 star rating. Loaded Baked Potato - Cheese powder, sour cream powder, bacon bits and dried chives, and not one flavor overpowers the others. You might want to call ahead to see if they have this, because it seems to sell out fast. Jalapeno Cheddar - I love Jalapeno Cheetos, but hated how the very mild Jalapeno flavor would disappear after a few bites. This stuff on the other hand is the real deal - not only is it actually spicy, but you can taste the peppers right to the bottom of the bag. Houston Style - This one's my favorite. Almost identical to the chicago style (50/50 mix of caramel corn and cheese) but with DOUBLE cheese. Who could say no to that? A 'mini' size is more than enough for one person - and between us and three friends tonight we barely managed to put a dent in one 'junior' (Houston Style) and one 'small' (Baked Potato).
