Wandered by on a Sunday, and decided to pop in for lunch, especially because Sunday roasts were offered. The experience was both terrible and great - made our orders promptly: lamb and chicken, beer and tea, and then we waited. And waited. And waited. And then the server comes up with our bill and I was like ?! Turns out our orders were missed, and they were duly apologetic. By then, there was no more lamb and we were rather grouchy. However, on the upside, service recovery was great. I had to go with the pork belly in lieu of lamb, and the restaurant decided they would waive the cost of the second main, and get me another beer while at it. Nice gesture, but your food had better be good eh? Verdict: better than good - the roast pork belly was melt in your mouth, and the chicken crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. One of the nicer meals I had in London indeed, if I could overlook the fiasco of the meal order mix up. While it was just us whose orders were goofed, other patrons also had to undergo a long waiting time as well, of 30 minutes and above. Note: I didn't realize there was already a restaurant review started here, so I created another one that's just called Portobello Organic Kitchen without the "The" in front. We stumbled upon this restaurant during our visit to Notthinghill area in London. We weren't necessarily even looking for an Italian place, but this restaurant caught our eye. It was late in the afternoon and it was fairly empty at 4:30PM and we decided we needed a rest and some food. Very friendly service and the pizzas. Wow. Thin crust Italian style pizza with great ingredients. We ordered: Mushroom - chestnut mushrooms, mozzarella, truffle oil, parmesan Salsiccia - spicy sausage, mozzarella Salad with walnut dressing One of the best pizzas we've had and the server was not lying about the mushroom pizza. It was extremely good [as was the salsiccia]. The truffle oil really made the pizza. The salsiccia was really good as well and when you bite into the sausage, you get this burst of spiciness that fills your mouth. Wonderful. Next time we're in London and in Notthinghill, we'll be sure to visit this place again. Great find along a great neighborhood that has many things to offer! read more

This place was okay. We went here on a Saturday after exploring Portobello Market and we hastily chose one of the first restaurants we saw because we were hungry. The salad with goats cheese, grapes, and cucumber was great with a really nice dressing. The antipasto platter was just okay. I would have expected a bit more for the price. We also ordered grilled focaccia, but it came out dry and burnt - we couldn't even eat it. read more

When I see a decent lunch special, I generally feel obligated to give it a go. Tuesday through Friday lunch, 10 pounds for a pizza or pasta and a glass of wine. All right! I went here last week and was dismayed by the amount of time it took for me to get my food. Forty minutes? The guy waiting on me was nice enough, if a little absent-minded, so I decided to chalk it up as a fluke and give them another chance. So I headed in again today and things were much better. I got the spicy sausage pizza, which was out of this world. Fresh out of the oven, the crust was perfect and I really dug the buffalo mozzarella. They use really good ingredients, and it certainly shows. Still, I can't believe I ate the whole thing on my own. Time for another sleepy, post-lunch shift at the office. read more

Its a great option when you want a fresh, wholesome meal with nice ingredients and plenty of well prepared veggies. The benefits of a dish cooked at home without the logistical issues. The only bad side is that when I got home I couldn't stop farting. I had a massive case of flatulence and my poor husband couldn't sleep. I talked to a doctor, however, and he said it was just my body getting used to very healthy food. I had had salads from Daylesford for lunch that day. read more

Not bad as a local spot. The pizzas are good, especially my favorite ( an newly discovered) Fiorentina with an omelet in the center. The mezze dish is a good option to share with the table, but was served a tad on the just-taken-out-of-the-fridge side, meaning, too cold. Their home made soups are yummy and the It's a small place on Portobello with room for about 20 people total (two small tables out side for a nice day) and the walls are decorated with old photos of Notting Hill with is quite cool. For dinner, the lighting is soft and somewhat romantic, but honestly the service is awful. Maybe I just had a bad experience but our waitress didn't even speak English and could not answer a single question we had. In fact, we asked for something like water and got ketchup instead! The salads are a good option if you're looking for a well-sized healthy option, and the wine list isn't bad either. If you live in the area I would definitely suggest checking this place out, but don't go out of your way to eat here. read more

This place was perfect for a relaxed Friday evening dinner. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to walk in with no reservation. We tried the mixed salad, prosciutto salad, pappardelle pasta, and the grilled salmon. The mixed salad portion was more generous than expected and both salads tasted great. The prosciutto salad had some squash pieces which really added to the flavors/textures. The salmon had a crisp grilled skin and was moist and tender. Homemade organic food that beats your grandma's cooking! I would recommend the restaurant's own baked selection of bread with olives to start with. Later we sampled the delicious mushroom pizza and a chicken breast risotto with peas, asparagus and parmesan cheese shavings. Italian food at its best. This is a great, homey type of restaurant with healthy delicious items. We ordered a bottle of montepulciano with no apps this time though they looked great. We ordered two pizzas-one with Parma ham and beef with chilli. Both awesome ! Another ordered a salad and quinoa delicious as well. Sunday delivery order... Was a little painful to place order over the phone, though the lady was friendly enough, she wasn't that great at taking orders... Pizza, salad and chips... hmm.. I had lunch here. The service was very friendly and attentive. The special was saffron risotto topped with arugula and a generous helping of fresh shaved Parmesan cheese with a choice of house beer or wine. My wife makes a killer risotto. I've also had amazing risotto Milanese in Milan. Needless to say I was hesitant to order this dish. However this risotto did not disappoint even this risotto snob! read more

First of all: They've changed the name to just "The Portobello Kitchen". Very cosy little Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere and great food at a very convenient location just on busy Portobello Road. The prices are pretty good, especially considering the touristy area. I had the beef with mustard sauce and it was absolutely lovely. However, while the mustard sauce was great, next time I would probably go with the mushroom sauce. My friend got some pizza (can't remember the name) but it was superb! The grilled vegetables are a must as a side dish! So perfect! The music was very good and not too loud at all. Considering the cosy atmosphere I could definitely recommend this place to romantic couples. read more

Was in the area for an event and needed a good dinner. Walked past this little place a few times before deciding to give it a go. I love mushrooms, so I naturally ordered the mushroom pizza. It was so good, I could not stop eating. I was happy I was the only one eating as I don't think I could have shared with anyone. I still dream about that pizza and cannot wait to return. Had high hopes for this one-- ordered two pizzas via hungryhouse home delivery. They arrived fast, but the pizzas were very cold and one was burnt, rendering the dough dry.
