OK, so here it goes. I have been a huge fan of Price Is Right since I was in my teens. I have been in their studio when they were still on Beverly blvd.(CBS). Twice. They are now in Glendale. Please update your location. Well, dream come true. I have asked my son to apply for 2 tickets for the game show and be very consistent and persistent. So we both went after it w/out giving up. So after applying online 6 times, we finally got an email from them saying to show up on the taping of the show and be there at least 30 minutes ahead of time. They had 3 tapings that day. 2 in the morning and 1pm for the afternoon. We asked for 1pm, and it was granted to us. We got there exactly at 12:15pm, on 8/11/26, and had to park at this church near by. Found parking easily and we were good to go. Approached their check-in desk/station and Brooke checked us in online. We both got individual, first priority seating, and numbers to put on our right side of our chest. After we went through the metal detector search, we were on our way to another big room of people. Hayley, with a beautiful smile asked to see our IDs/driver licenses. Not only did she nail my mouthful of a name, but also my son's. She had beautiful handwriting. We got to this big room full of happy, and joyful contestents. Of course some anxious, nervous, some kept their cool. I was somewhere in between, but SUPER EXCITED. Of course we all wanted to be winners. In that room, with plastic folding chairs, they were keeping us busy by playing old Price Is Right tapings. They had refreshments and two vending machines. We also had to fill out a lot of forms online with all of our personal information for liability reasons. At the same time, there was a photographer taking photos of everyone with like 6 different shots, from different angles. We purchased one for $35.00 plus tax. We then proceeded to another room 7 to 10 people at a time. Their producer of the show was just FANTASTIC, full of love and energy. Asking everyone different types of questions. Mostly what people do for a living. She also wanted us to have great vibes, shout, scream as loud as we could, and be a great sport. I had no problem with that. Had to tell that to my son. The duration of the whole process was exactly 5 hours. No less, no more. It ended at 5:20pm. As we were already approaching the main studio where the show was going to take place, we all had to turn in our phones and any other devices. Rules and regulations were pretty much self explanatory. What to bring, what to leave at home, what to wear, and that's about it. Once we entered the show, it didn't take long for Drew Carey-- to come out. Handsome, lovely, funny host to appear on stage. During commercial times, him being a comedian was cracking jokes with the audience, and he really was very humorous. The stage along with the room where we were sitting was very beautiful, clean, well spread out and there were tables in between people. Stage was very colorful, bright, & vibrant. The seats were so soft, wide and super comfortable. Better than a movie theatre seats. I kid you not. They had several restrooms, and they were also very clean. All employees were very nice, friendly and helpful. Yet professional. If anyone is interested to watch the show, it will air on the 2nd of December of this year. Even though we didn't win, it was all part of the excitement, joy, fun and the experience. Apparently you can apply to be a contestant as many time as you wish. We ran in to someone who was there for 25 times. Maybe the 26th, he will be called and win both showcases!:-)) Dim the lights, and let the show begin. I love The Price is Right game show. I watch it everyday. My Dad would watch it everyday and I could not call him and disturb him during the show!! I think Drew Carey is the kindest person. He is the greatest game show host. I laugh at all his antics on the show. The June 9, 2026 show a contestant played the Rat Race game and the "orange rat", he was saying, what about this one? He's a quitter & accidentally knocked down the finish line bracket and acted like he was Godzilla!! Then James was performing CPR on the "orange rat!!" I am so glad he says at the end of every show to spay or neuter your pets, like Bob Barker did which I am glad they continued that statement. Also, Drew mentioning mental health. I feel that is a very important issue in society and it means alot to the world hearing it from a celebrity. Thank you for that. read more

This show staff picks the contestants before the show. If you notice they are into diversity, equity and inclusion. Almost every day they have 3 black contestants. If they are being fair that would mean that every day 33% of the audience should be black. I feel the staff should not pick the contestants. It should be random like picking Bingo numbers. every audience name should be put in a drum, like in Bingo, and picked randomly so everyone has the same chance to become a contestant. Then if there are 3 or 4 black contestants it is fair and random. read more

I used to love this show. Now, the producers allow the contestants act like such fools the show has become unbearably ridiculous. The contestants dance down the isles when called up, run around the entire studio audience before going down to the stage, and act like kindergarteners that have zero ounces of behavioral skills. What happened to when Bob Barker was the host and the show was civilized? read more

So if you ever wanted to go onto the prices right you go to Google and Google price is right for tickets. I did this about two weeks before we were gonna go to Los Angeles and I got tickets with no problem. That is so fun if you ever watch the price is right, you know what's going on so the one thing is when you get there you let them know your name and then you go into a other area where you use the computer to put all your information in and then you go to another area and they give you a number and then they call you by numbers and then you go into the show It takes a while but it's all worth it so I wasn't picked for contestant but still so much fun so try if your price is right person go to Google and get your ticket now you won't regret it. read more

Be prepared to wait. First day wait time was 6 hours and second day 4. Be ready to audition to try to get a spot. They can only pick a certain number of individuals and when I attended they appeared to pick mostly folks from other states and countries and students. Cell phones are not allowed. Drew and George were funny and appear nice. The set is smaller then how it appears on tv. Overall it's an experience. It's fun if your willing to wait and staff are very nice. read more

Such a great experience. My husband was on the show and won a lot of great stuff including a trip to Hawaii. Drew and George were amazing the entire production. It did last about 5 to 6 hours if my memory serves me right but it was a lot of fun. Drew talked to the audience and was really funny while the audience waited for the set the change. The staff was fantastic. My husband won us an amazing trip to Hawaii! I couldn't ask for a better experience. Thanks everyone who works on The Price is Right! The producers or who ever asked you questions and decide who goes on the show. Also at CBS you could see what's happening on stage. The Price Is Right is taped in Studio 33 in CBS Television City in Los Angeles, California since September 4, 1972. To participate, you must be 18 years old or older. You're given a name tag and placed in a Group of 10 or 12. You introduce yourself and where you're from in front of the Producer. Ideally, you wanna make yourself memorable and stick out within the group (obviously, Nick knew what to do since he got picked, lol!). As for myself, at the time, I was just happy to be attending and maybe seeing myself on TV in the audience at some point. That was 2001, and how I remembered it. My brother got picked and ALMOST won a Ford Escort ZX2 playing the Cover Up game (where you have to guess the exact and correct number of the price of the car). He missed by one number, ugh, lol!!! He also got to spin the wheel, but was beat by $0.10 from the Canadian guy next to him. The only prize my brother won was the consolation prize - the plaid sofa in the beginning, but he declined it (it was ugly and you have to pay the taxes for it, and so, it's not a free-winning prize). Being in the audience was so cool! The energy is wild, happy and entertaining. If I was to get picked, I would have loved to win either a car or cash via my favorite game, Plinko! We totally got a kick out of it, and Bob Barker is just LEGENDARY! He's long retired and so now, the current host is Drew Carey. Overall, nostalgia at its finest! Nineteen years later and seeing this episode again, definitely brought a smile to my face, laughter and happy tears of joy! Even my Mom got to see this through the magic of YouTube and she got a kick out of it too! I highly recommend going to a taping of The Price is Right (whenever this COVID-19 subsides). This is one of my to do weekly shows I enjoy. I did have a concern today watching their "Mother's Day" week shows. I saw almost All the Mother's Jumping being called, jumping when they get right price and jumping if they Win on Stage or at the Spin Wheel. ** If you google Jumping while Pregnant, it is harmful for the Baby. Quote that I read Online about this. " When should you stop jumping while pregnant? It will vary from woman to woman as far as when she should put a pause on these exercises. One woman may be fine continuing them well into the second trimester when another woman may need to stop sooner in the first trimester.Jul 14, 2020" Should the Price Is Right "Alert" pregnant women before the Show Not To Jump in excitement. Going to a studio taping, at least for me, is truly a bucket list experience. It is so fun and so fascinating to see your favorite shows happen in real life. During a trip to Los Angeles, a friend and I were really wanting to go to a taping, and pretty much whatever we could snag tickets for. There are multiple websites where you can get free tickets online, just be aware that it's best to get them a few months in advance depending on which shows. When we were able to get some for the Price is Right, we were stoked. It was a show a grew up watching every now and then and I was excited to see Drew Carey. The instructions that were given to us to get into the studio were pretty simple, and everyone waited outside the doors until we were let in. Before going in, everyone goes through a photo op that can be purchased, as well as an 'interview process.' Everyone gets asked random questions about themselves, so if you wanna be on the show, make sure to be super extra and crazy!! We were incredibly lucky to sit in the front row, and the set is just as cool as it looks on TV. It's pretty amazing how graceful Drew and everyone else in the cast are during the show and in between breaks. Whenever there was a break, Drew would come out and talk with the audience, which was pretty fun and he is hilarious. It was also neat to see them announce who would be up next, as no one truly knew until they did so. This was such a cool experience. It makes me want to see a different taping every time I go to LA now!! I highly recommend doing one if you want something unique to do. read more

A phenomenal experience - IF you did your research and knew what to expect! Arrived at the studio at 10:45am for a Noon priority ticket and was Number 016 in line. The first waiting room (which every wait area is covered!) was situated in front of a gift shop. There was a cafe (cash only) that sold expensive lunches ($10 hot dog & bag of chips) and drinks ($5 red bull). Promptly at noon, producers came around and checked every ticket and handed out contestant number stickers that identified you on surveillance cameras (and you ARE being watched from start to finish). Around 12:30, the line moved forward to fill out tax paperwork and photo releases. This is also where your ID was checked and your yellow name tag was given to you. After your paperwork was filled out, it was verified by a producer and you were sent to take a photo against a green screen (which was offered to us for $20 each). Once the paperwork and photo was finished, we moved to a second holding area. Here, we waited about 45 minutes before Stan, the guy who picks contestants for the show, walked down the line and spoke with every single person. Where are you from? What do you do? What's your favorite game? How has your day been? This lasted about 20 minutes and was actually a pleasant experience! From there you are sent to a security checkpoint where your phone is taken from you and you are placed in the third and final holding area. This was the longest wait for us - but only because we were at the front of the line and had to wait for everyone else to do paperwork, take photos and be interviewed. If we were last, the longest wait would be in the first section and the shortest wait would be in the final area. Here, another snack bar was set up ($10 personal pizzas, etc) and a bathroom was provided before the show. They played an entire episode of the show while we waited, as well as a funny warm up video telling us what to expect inside. About 2 hours later, we were led inside and upstairs into the studio. The studio is absolutely stunning. Bright and colorful, and not a bad seat in the house. The producer will place you based on your attire and group size - so if you want to be up front, arrive early and wear bright colors or custom shirts. If you want to sit in the back corners, wear a dull shirt and look bored. George came out once the audience was seated and told a few jokes, welcomed us and then told us how the show would get going. This lasted about 10 minutes. George then took his place and the music started playing as the stage producers got everyone to go wild. I cannot understate this enough - the crowd will be deafening and the music and microphones will be so soft that you will not hear a single word or musical cue. So to tell the crowd who has been picked, they hold up a sign with a name on it. Once the crowd quiets down - you can hear Drew just fine - but while the bidding is going on, you will have no idea what they said. The games are just as awesome as they are in person. We had Cover Up, It's In The Bag, Double Prices, One Wrong Price, Range Game and one I cant remember. Two ties for $1 and one of them hit the dollar again for $26,000! Overall, I was there for about 7 hours and it was well worth my time. Yes, it's long - but go in expecting it to be long, make friends with those around you, take time to walk around and it will go by quicker than you think it will! read more

Like the game bit that's were the love ends! The show needs an upgrade in the emcee, my choice would be Wayne Grady who puts energy in the show or his sidekick, Jonathan Magnum. A one hour show with over 50 commercial breaks is totally unacceptable. Just couldn't deal with that crap any longer so have moved on. read more

If you thought that watching an episode of The Price is Right on TV is crazy: let me assure you that attending a taping is downright straight jacket crazy. I'm talking carnival side show, "I shouldn't be staring but can't help it", animal stampede crazy. Everything, including the show attendees (I was working my usual audience gig so I am considered separate); the crew, and even the decorations on set are wild. The studio is much smaller than expected and looks like the rejected decoration discards of a hippie set or That 70s Show. Plus, for some reason the studio smells like a doctor's office or a box of band-aids. Not sure why it smells medical but it does. Luckily I didn't have to stand in the general line which I hear congregates several hours ahead of time (I don't think it would be worth it for this particular show) but I did receive one of those well-recognizable price name tags (I was "Pat"). Band-aid smell aside, the shoot lasts about an hour or so but it is very chaotic. Everyone is jumping around (even though the contestants know ahead of time that they are being picked), yelling, the audience wranglers and the announcer are looney tunes, and it is simply disorganized. You barely know when to applaud or when you are filming and when you are not. I've been on several shoots and it is just a mess. Drew Carey is friendly though and works to have a conversation with audience members in between takes with the usual "Where are you from? What do you do?" appeal. He seems a bit uncomfortable and forced but has his humorous moments. In terms of memory trinkets, they give you a little postercard to attach your nametag to in order show your great-grandchildren. Not really a show I would suggest going to see unless you are similarly crazy... or completely wasted like the one guy who smelled like a 12 pack of beer. read more

Be prepared to wait! For the afternoon taping, you need to arrive by 1. We had Priority tix, which guarantee admission. We got there at about 12:45 and were about 150th out of the Priority tix. The whole show only admits about 300, so I wouldn't bother unless you have a Priority ticket. Don't wear any sort of digital watch. I have a Garmin vivofit, which has no internet capability, and they had me take it back to the car. Also, no backpacks allowed. You can bring food and drink as long as they are consumed before entering the studio. The entire process took about 5 hours, and the show taping portion goes by quickly. I wouldn't recommend it if you're only visiting for a few days, as it takes up so much time and would only be worth it if you are one of the lucky 9 that get to Come on Down! One moment I'm sitting as an audience member, the next moment I'm up on stage with Drew Carey. Being in that studio was such a surreal experience and I still can't believe my dream came true. My episode aired on October 27, 2017 and after getting to the showcase, I won $45,765 in cash in prizes including a 2017 Ford Mustang! Definitely a must-do if you're in the L.A. area because the adrenaline of potentially getting to Come On Down is the most amazing feeling ever! read more

Me and my sister and her daughter in law got free tickets to the taping. We were in a rush, and short on time to check in. At security they would not allow me to wear my plain low tech digital watch into the taping. It was a nice Timex expedition. They would not hold it, or let me check it in with cell phones, and I ENDED UP HAVING TO THROW IT IN THE TRASH IN ORDER TO NOT BE LATE GETTING INTO THE SHOW. This ruined the experience totally, and if it were just me I would have just said screw it and walked away. The they were short of audience members, so they called a bunch of paid actors to be audience members. They also were trying to sell over prices photos, and sodas. I'll not be going back to any of these studios, just not worth it. read more

What a fun afternoon!!! But I really do mean 'afternoon'. :) We were instructed to arrive by 1:00pm for a 5:00pm taping. Each person got assigned a number after signing a standard waiver/agreement. We then got to have a picture made in front of a green screen that we could later purchase (very cute!). After a bit of a wait, they brought us as groups into an interview room where they talked with each person to decide who they would bring 'on down' to bidders row. All of the waiting is outside, but they do have benches available for everyone to sit down while waiting. They also have snacks and drinks available for purchase. Restrooms are available while you are in line outside and they reminded us several times that there are no restrooms once you are inside the soundstage. There is security and you do have to turn in cell phone (no pictures allowed) and you get a claim ticket. It was pretty easy process after the taping to get it back. After going through security we were lined up in numerical order before we entered the soundstage. Once inside (up two small flights of stairs) we were directed to a seat. The soundstage is pretty small so there are really no bad seats. It is a bit hard to see what is going on on the stage because of all the cameras, but there a monitors that show what will be shown on TV. There is also a lot of the time where we could not hear what was being said on stage, but it was all captured through the microphones so I'm excited to see the taped show!! Really a fun, if long, day. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the LA area. read more

The main purpose of my trip to Los Angeles was to come to my favorite game show ever. *checks off bucket list* Ever since Rhonda A. was a wee tot, she has been watching The Price is Right. Her favorite game is Cliff Hangers... Enough about me though. Though the process to get into the studio is pretty tedious, it's worth it in the end I feel. I got 2 general admission tickets to the 12pm taping. (Note: Do yourself a favor, get the priority tickets & get there early!) Line #1: Got there at 11am, waited about 2 hours before being turned away. We were up next when the guy was like, "Sorry". Excuse me, I didn't fly across the country to NOT get to go to a live taping of my favorite game show ever. I was so heartbroken. Then a mother daughter duo that we made friends with while standing on line gave us their tickets, so we could go in. I was so happy & thankful, I started crying. I was going to cry because of the huge waste of time, but tears of joy are much better. Line #2: You fill out a consent form, get your name tag, then take pictures. There's food & drinks but it's cash only. Line #3: You get to see the pictures you took in line #2 & decide whether or not you want to purchase them. Cash there's no tax, credit tax. You talk to the producers. (This is where they pick who gets called down to contestant's row) Line #4: They take your cellphone & give you a ticket to pick it up on the way out. If there's scratches on your case and/or screen protector they make you sign for it. I get it, people probably try to blame them for their phone being cracked when they know good and damn well that's how it was beforehand. Line #5: The last line before you get to go into the studio. You better pee now or forever hold your piss. *slaps knee* Finally after about 4-5 hours, you're in the studio. When the taping is going on & you're watching, cheering & screaming, you forget that you were standing in line ALL DAY. We were fourth row from the stage! I got to touch Drew Carey's hand! During commercial breaks Drew interacts with the crowd & does some stand up so we're not restless & bored. Line #6: Retrieve your cellphone. Line #7: Get the picture you paid for in line #3, if you decided to get one. Met some wonderful people who I will never forget. Especially the mother daughter duo who gave up their spots just so we could get in. 30 minutes later & a few calls to some higher ups & they were able to come in & enjoy the show with us. Tried to get their information so we could send a gift, but they said us enjoying the show was good enough for them. And we'll never forget our man James, the only white man to walk around with a giant bottle of Lubiderm lotion because he didn't want to be ashy on national television. I would do this again, maybe I'll make it to contestants row the next time! read more

Ahh long overdue review but I recently found an old dvd that brought back some memories of the time I went to the Price is Right taping. I heart this show! I watched it all the time as a kid and a couple years ago I got the surprise of my life when I got picked to go on the show. This was when Bob Barker was still on the show. I went with a bunch of friends to a taping of the Price is Right on week day. We got there around 11:45am and fell in line with the big crowd that was there. They have a small gift shop and I bought a 50 cent Bob Barker postcard and a pin for a $1.50. Hehe! After awhile the folks working there started to give us name tags and numbers. More waiting until we went to the side of the building where they were doing interviews of all the folks going in. After the contestant interviews, we soon got to enter the studio. It is so much smaller in real life. The announcer Rich Fields came out and talked to the audience for a bit until the show started. We had these seats way up on the right hand corner and so it was pretty far. I had to stand on tip toe to see what was going on hehe. Anyways they picked the contestants and none of us got picked during the 1st half. During the 2nd half they call more people and no one from our group gets called yet....till it was time for the last contestant and I suddenly hear my name and everyone around me just explodes. Honestly hearing "Come on down....Jenn G" was crazy, unbelievable crazy It was fun and nerve wracking at the same time to be on the show. Cool moments definitely have to include the light blinking when I got the right bid, getting to go up on stage and shaking Bob Barker's hand and spinning the wheel (which by the way is heavy haha). read more

I've gone to too many show tapings lately. This is probably my last one for a long while, as it really sucked the whole day from us. We arrived at noon as instructed, and the taping wasn't until 4:15. It seemed like an excessively long and unnecessary amount of time to sit around doing nothing. Contestants are pre selected based on a short group interview with the producer (by short, I mean he asks each person 1, maybe 2 questions). You do have the option, after a few hours of waiting, of ordering a cheeseburger for $11, which we did. It wasn't too bad, but nothing special. Also bought a candy bar for $4 (the price isn't always right...). Once the taping begins, it goes fast. It's just the annoyance of giving up an entire day, being shuffled around for hours and herded like sheep from line to line. We also ended up having to pay $20 for parking in the farmer market lot next door by the grove. Overall, I did not think it was worth it and I would have been upset if I was a tourist here on vacation and gave up an entire day for not much of anything (of course if you are actually selected and win something huge, then it's worth it....but keep in mind there are about 300 audience members and they only choose 8 or 9 to go to contestants row). Oh, and if you'd like on your way out, you can purchase your picture that they take of you during your hours of waiting for $20, as a souvenir of the time you spent your entire day waiting in lines. Or you can do what I did and sign up at the photo station with your email address, go to the website instructed on the little card you take, and screenshot your photo. Then when people ask you about the funny water mark on it you can explain that you didn't feel like paying $20 after you wasted your entire day in line after line, $11 on a burger, $4 on a candy bar, and $20 for parking. read more

Who would have thought that taping a show can take this long???!!! We got to the studio at 8:30 in the morning.. Having tickets already, we thought that at least by noon we would get in... But we were soooo wrong!!!! We didn't start taping until 4:30 in the afternoon.. So we didn't leave until 6... It seems crazy right??!! Well it was... The whole process was a joke... Not fun at all... For every occassion they want to sell you stuff.. From picture to food, drinks and snacks.... Being the first time goer, I didn't know that we could take our own food and water.... I would never go back, but if I did, I would for sure take food and drink with me..... I would not recommend to anyone to go to the taping of this show... I had a great time attending The Price is Right this past July. If you like game shows this has to be on your bucket list. I attended the 2nd taping of the day. The tickets said that we should be there by 12pm. To make sure everything was fine my GFand I got there at 11 30. There were two lines once we got there. One was priority and the other was general admission. I requested priority tickets months ago so after a minor wait we were able to get in without any problems. I'm not going to bore you with details but it was almost a 3 hour wait before we made it inside the studio. It was worth it though because I made it as a contestant and won some nice prizes! read more

Wow, what an experience! The LA bucket list grows smaller as I check off "live taping." The line is well-organized, the people are friendly, and as an audience member, you get to experience this incredible energy and enthusiasm that is truly unique. First and foremost, you may very well have tickets for a "9am" taping, but you won't get INTO the studio till about 12:45!! You sit for endless hours, outside, on cold, metal benches, waiting to be let in. You fill out paperwork, get your photo taken in front of a green screen "showing how you would act if you won a cruise" (then of course they sell you the photos for $20 each). After the green screen, you sit and wait for a producer to finally come out do very short interviews with each person. Then you move to ANOTHER area and wait some more. When we went early March 2019, the weather was abnormally cool. A lot of people were wearing shorts, short sleeves, sandals. Had we known we'd have to sit OUTSIDE (granted, under a covered area) for 4 hours, we all would have dressed warmer!!!! We were blocks of ice before getting inside. When the CA weather is normal, it's probably not so bad, but I'd still bring a coat, if nothing more than sit on. Keep in mind, they are watching you ALL THE TIME, how excited you are, etc. They pre-pick who will be called to contestant row before you get into the studio. Keep your energy up and smile on!!! Eventually they open a little food booth with hot dogs, pizzas, candy, trail mix, coffee, cold drinks, but it's all pricey! However, after sitting for 2.5-3 hours, you don't care. You'll pay. There ARE bathrooms available before going into the studio. A lot of people had cell phones with them, but they WILL get taken by security as you enter the studio proper. In fact, ladies, they will THOROUGHLY go thru your purse looking for recording devices. All that said, once IN the studio, it was a fun time. George gave me a birthday kiss (it was HIS birthday, too, the day we went) and signed my shirt, and also got to shake James' hand (ye's SO cute!!!). We didn't get called down, but oh well. In an effort to remain un-gainfully employed for as long as possible, I expanded the whole "job search" idea into other creative ways to secure funds, which naturally and not at all irresponsibly led me straight to CBS studios and the Price is Right. Let's talk tickets- do not show up without a ticket. There are two types that I came across online. I went to http://on-camera-audiences.com/ and found tickets. They had certain dates where 'priority tickets' were available and some in which 'vouchers' were available. Priority ensures entry. We arrived at CBS at 12pm (as stated on our tickets we received via email), outside there was a huge line of about 150-200 people. We were told if we had a priority ticket we skip the line. Make sure you bring a government issued ID and they asked for our social security card, but we didn't bring them and they said it was ok. Here's where we began to think we should turn around. Once you get into the outdoor lot, we find out it's going to be one long line after long line with a bunch of people who are bat shit crazy. Here's what I mean by crazy-85% of guest came in groups wearing matching custom made shirt- "Drew's Gals", "Come on Down", "It's my birthday, pick me" or one couple who we got stuck sitting next to. The couple was dressed in matching custom shirts with a photo print of their cat on it and matching green cardigans. The guy was wearing 4 watches on one arm and had a grizzly beard. The girl had those creepy short bangs. I was like, "ugh, kill me we have to sit next to the hipster kids", but as the day wore on I think they were not hipsters, but had just been released from an oven like Hansel and Gretel and reintroduced to the modern world. Even when you are waiting in line (for 5 hours) people are cheering at the top of their lungs, squealing and in general going insane for no reason other than to pass the time. So here's the steps so you can follow along beginning after entry: Sit in a cattle heard on metal benches outside. Another ID check/paperwork. Get your number tag and name tag. Become bored. Wait in line. Go to the bathroom to waste time. Check your FB for the 100th time on your phone, which you are trying to ration it's battery. Get your mugshot taken. Wait in line. Get your picture taken next to a green screen with a fake wheel. Feel like a complete idiot. Turn the corner and realize you are now in ANOTHER long line. Consider leaving. Able to order food, which include burgers, pizza, all overpriced. Wait in line. Get interviewed in groups of about 10 to be a contestant on the show- Note: they want you to go crazy here. They may ask what you do for a living, etc. but in general they are looking for people who go crazy, whose group is screaming and cheering and is super excited. By this time I feel like my blood sugar level is at zero and I may pass out so the interviewer pointed me out by saying "oh Whitney she doesn't seem to care if she wins or not", I guess that pretty much cemented by non contestant status. They collect your phone. Go through security. Enter studio. You could probably fake explosive diarrhea and get out of there, but you've waited so long in line there's no going back now. When the taping finally begins, you are very enthusiastically encouraged to go ferking crazy- scream, clap, and jump up and down like a moron. I'm not the type to go ape shit, but after awhile it was so loud and if you're not going nuts then you are the weird one. So I got a second wind and committed to acting like a fool. I took it upon myself to scream out prices even if they were asking for prices. I clapped at anything. The tricky thing is it's so loud in there, you cannot hear a thing that's going on on stage. So I just randomly would hear myself screaming bloody murder- "CARROT JUICE!" "ONE DOLLAR" "BUTTER CHOOSE THE BUTTER" You get the picture. Every few minutes I'd have to sit down and watch the stars in my eyes and hope I didn't black out. I really out did myself and expect to look like a complete ass when our episode airs in November. Basically, just follow the ol' if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I now longed to have matching t-shirts, maybe with a picture of my dog's visage. By the end I felt like I had ran a marathon through a rainforest. Afterwards, when all you want to do is crawl back to the car and make sure you're hair didn't frizz from your forehead sweat; you get to wait in ANOTHER line. I considered just leaving my cell phone because the thought of standing in line again made me suicidal, but then I thought of all the incriminating things on my cell phone. In hindsight I'd treat it like I was flying. I'd pop a sleeping pill immediately after I entered security, just like TSA or bring some movies, a picnic lunch, and an extra cell phone battery. read more

I read all the reviews so we were prepared to wait for hours. We had priority and waited about half hour before they let us in to bench rows set 1. We filled out the paperwork got numbers and nametags. USE THE BATHROOM HERE IT IS LARGER THAN THE ONE RIGHT BEFORE THE STUDIO. Took pic with green screen and it came out great. Moved on to section 2 of benches. Husband got us some food and drinks. About 45 min later (number 155) we met with the producer. We knew this lady in our group would get in as she was a trip! From there you stand in line, check your cells, and watch some videos. ATTENTION: last bathroom stop. Only 2 stalls. Go asap. Into the studio. It's cold but you end up yelling and jumping around so you don't feel it. George and Drew are funny and it's amazing to be there even if you don't get called. Took about 6 hours but it flew by since it was pretty fun. I wouldn't do it again, but it was definitely fun and something I can remember from my honeymoon and tell my future kids about. read more

As most of the other reviewers said, this is definitely something that would be nice to do once (only if you're a hardcore price is right fan and have an entire day to spare). Our tickets were for the 12pm showing so we didn't have to wake up at 3am. Only do that if you signed up for the 8am showing. We got there at around 930am to find that there were only 5 people ahead of us so we were definitely way up in the front. I would definitely recommend running across the street to get bagels or something at Subway. Trust me, because you won't get the chance to eat again until 630 or 7pm like how it was for my boyfriend and I. They do sell some food items before the interviewing process but everything is overpriced. At around 11am, they start allowing people in the lobby. Bring two forms of ID with you. Once you're in the lobby, they won't allow you to leave or else you lose your place. After that, they give you your nametag and your number placement in line. There we waited until they rounded everyone in line. I think around 300 people were given nametags. That's the usual cutoff. Then around 1, the producer, Stan, came and interviewed us in groups of around 10-15. He was very friendly and funny - don't be nervous. Just do your best to impress him if you want to get called up. Don't be fake either because you can tell he notices those things. He asked questions like "So what do you do?", "Besides plinko, what is your favorite game on the show?" and "Where are you from?". After that, we went through security where they labeled all your electronic devices - phones, ipods, cameras. They give you a ticket so you can retrieve your items after the taping ends. Then... yes you guessed it... some more waiting! For all 300 people to be individually interviewed. At around 430pm we were finally let into the Bob Barker Studio. My boyfriend and I got to sit in the 3rd row! They seated you in random areas so it's really just the luck of the draw. They pumped us up with Lady Gaga and YMCA. Studio was small and all decked out in lights and cute decor. Finally Drew Carey came out and the taping began! The prizes were set on the right side, so it was so hard to see. We had to look up at the TV above to see the prizes.. and we were sitting in the 3rd row too. Sad face. Drew Carey was a really good host though, I must say. He told us stories about his life back in Ohio and talked to the audience members during commercial breaks. He's really cute and sweet. Before you know it, the show is over in a little over an hour. We got out at around 6pm. We were just plain exhausted after the show. I've never slept so soundly. Best sleep I ever had that night. read more

Well my friend invited me to this because it's seriously her favorite show! We have lived in LA all our 48 years here and I honestly had no desire to go to a taping to a tv show, let alone a game show. But, I love my friends! LOL With that being said, I do have childhood memories of watching this show with my grandmother and great grandmother. I have on occasion watched it when I have a random day off work during the week. I also adore Drew Carey. And, I mean? What if I got picked? Who doesn't want a chance to win some fabulous prizes, right??? And we were dedicated too! We actually left for work at 4am to work a few hours before we zoomed off to hell, I mean the heart of Los Angeles for the day. ALL DAY! It's true. You will be sitting for hours and hours. We left our phones in the car too so we wouldn't have to wait even more after the show. So, I made the most of it. I met some pretty interesting and cool people in all of those hours waiting and actually got more excited after each hour passed. I mean, come on! Expect to wait! Talk to people, they won't bite! At least I don't think so? I didn't see any biting going on :) You have some employees that you can tell are forced to pretend they're happy to be there haha. Be nice to them, you'd be fake too if you had their job for the amount of money they make. The producer does come through, who is very energetic and sweet. He's got one job and that job is to find 9 people to get on that stage. He does it well. Once inside though. That's where the "magic" happens and it's worth the wait. I swear it is. I'm a no BS person and I wouldn't BS you. It's fun. You want to get pick, obviously! But you, at least I was genuinely excited and happy to see everyone that went up there. The crew and Drew kept the show flowing and fun and I ended up having an amazing time. If you've always wanted to be on a show, go to this one! And bring food, you can. You'll be there a long time. And leave your digital watch AT HOME. It's a no no. XO read more

"Here it comes! From my Yelp app to your eyes, it's my review of The Price is Right!" As long as you don't mind waiting in lines, it does become a magical experience. Everyone is accurate about food that costs too much, and definitely do remember your ID. You can have your phone for most of the time, just not the last section before waiting to go in. My "super secret tip" would be, if you can go during a Holiday Taping, absolutely go then. Everyone wants to get called down, but, only 9 will. However on Holiday Takings, they normally give a "themed" gift to the audience in its entirety. On Thanksgiving you could get a Deepfryer and a $25 gift certificate to complete your meal. On Halloween, 2 passes to Knots Scary Farm. Same thing on Christmas :) Everyone wears number stickers as well as name stickers, the numbers get taken off before the show, and you really are just waiting for George to say the magic words, something like. "Take those numbers off but don't throw them away, I have a feeling you'll need them later on for something". That's the code for, the audience is getting a surprise, as you trade in your number for the prise later as a little security checkpoint as to not give the gift to just anybody. read more

Come on down!!! FINALLY I've made this trip and someone in my group heard those precious three little words!!! This is my 6th round of trying to get someone on the show and it was my girlfriends birthday yesterday and she was picked!!! We didn't wear shirts that said anything silly just funky tye dye brightly colored that stood out!!! Embarrassing that the producer recognized me from so many recent trips to try to get picked but hey it finally worked, whatever it takes!!! Remember be friendly, smile and point out that there's a birthday or a milestone that might get you recognized. Idk but she got picked. Yay!!! Be prepared to spend the whole day there for processing, interviews for selection of contestants and then staging for going into the studio. Remember this is 300 people. For a 8:30 arrival time you will be leaving the lot around 3:30. Yes 3:30 and you are only in taping for around an hour and a half. Sorry but hey it's a blast so go and have fun!!! read more

No doubt one of my best experiences! I'm a huge fan of TPIR! I've been watching it since I was a wee little girl. I've grown up dreaming of playing Plinko, or Master Key, or spinning the big wheel. I've dreamed of being on the contestant row and excitedly exclaiming $1 when the other three obviously overbid. Even though I didn't get chosen to be a contestant, it was really an amazing experience. My group waited in line for about 3 hours starting at 9am. It didn't bother me much since I chugged a coffee before we got there. It's a long wait, but well worth it. I met a bunch of cool people waiting in line and talked with those in my group also. There's a small group interview before you get into the studio. They take this opportunity to choose the most interesting people/personalities. The people called up to the contestant row always have a big personality or a cool talent/story. For giant groups (our was 25 people), they guarantee one of your party will get called up. The studio is much smaller than it looks on TV. It's brightly colored and looks even more amazing in person than on TV. The workers there are all really nice and entertaining. During "commercial breaks," Drew was quite entertaining, cracking jokes and interacting with the audience. There was also a cute sign guy wearing orange on stage, jumping around trying to get up pumped up to cheer. I enjoyed my experience greatly. I didn't care that I had to wait because the workers were entertaining, the people in line were fun, and the studio taping made my dreams come true. I'm tempted to go again, but it's hard to drive down to LA, miss school, and wait in line for so long. Maybe later in the future, I'll have better luck at getting called up! read more

Undeniably, my favorite game show growin' up and since I did have a limited amt of time here in LA. I thought I'd give it a shot since I did win a game show in China............ Location: CBS studios. (Right next to the Grove) Parking: The Grove..... Expensive.... 16 bucks for one taping Wait: you gotta wait a loooooooooong ass time. My call time was 8:30am but there were people who were waitin' since 3:30am the night prior. Though, my boy and I showed up right at 8:30am and we were fine. Then again a lot of people do get turned away since a lot of people come from far distances and roll in giant entourages. My bit of advice. Get there early..... Patrons: White people. A lot of white people from everywhere. The mid west, East coast...... The funny thing is that everyone makes their own shirts which is actually kinda funny. Drew Carrey: This guy is fuckin' funny. Studio: Super small. You would expect it to be ginourmous when you watch it on TV but it's pretty small. They play some cool tunes in the background to get you hyped up and the announcer and Drew play to the crowd. It's a pretty fun experience. To be a contestant: Alas, yours truly was not a contestant. I tried my hardest to impress but alas I guess I was not crazy or enthusiastic enough which is strange cause if you know me. I'm Mr. Energetic..... I would definitely do it again but not anytime soon. If you get a chance to do it I suggest you do it in your lifetime. It was a lot of fun and I'd definitely do it again. I'd just have someone drop me off and pick me up cause I'm not a fan of 16 dollars for parkin at the Grove. read more
