So unfortunately, we didn't eat there because I wanna be fair and give a proper review on the food since it is a restaurant. But we didn't make it to the food. We didn't make it past trying the beers. We knew the place had reopened under new ownership and wanted to give it a shot. We walked in and were seated promptly. Right away I noticed there were crumbs all over the floor. That's a major red flag, not a good first impression. Decided to try some beers. We placed an order with the waitress for three tasters. She informed us one of them was brand new, and all of their other beers were from the original owners. A minute later, another waitress came over and says that our server can't service alcohol because she's not of age and to give her the order. When I said one of them was one of the new beers she had no idea what I was talking about. Strange. What is most strange is that why is a server working at a brewery who can't serve alcohol? That's a new one for me. Let's just say the beers were awful. They were flat, tasteless and not entirely up the temp. My friends invited us to meet at Proper Brewing. It took 2 hours to be served our food. Food was average at best. We had one drink. Never saw our server again. I myself recognized she had way too many tables to tend to. The other staff there was rude. I understand the ins and outs of service. Therefore, I reminded quiet and patiently waited. Stopped in for dinner on a Tuesday night and glad that I did. Tuesday night is burger night and you get a burger, fries, and a beer for $15. What a great deal. To add more detail the burger was so large that I couldn't even finish it so they definitely don't skip on the size. They have plenty of beer options. The service was good and the restaurant sits in an old movie theater so it was pretty cool inside. Overall I would say a great place to have dinner or drinks after work. We really enjoyed lunch at The Proper Brewing Company. The beers were really good and it is always nice to be able to buy 8oz beers when you want to try more than one. The food was really impressive! We like to try new places and happened to be in the area. We were able to walk right in and belly up to the bar. Yes, this is a brewing company, however they have a full bar, cider and wine options. Terrible. I'm from out of town and ordered online via ToastTab. When you visit their website that's the only option. I was very hungry and tired after a mountain bike ride and they came recommended from the Airbnb I'm staying at. I ordered Chicken Bites, which did not specify it came with fries, a side of sweet potato fries, and a side salad with dressing (of course). I picked up my order at the time due having noticed the tip I had clicked on didn't get added to my credit card so I brought cash in. I didn't think I had to ask for ketchup, utensils, napkins, I mean we're over a year into a pandemic where everyone who wants to stay in business is doing take out. I arrived home to the chicken bites covered in soggy regular fries, an order of soggy sweet potato fries, salad with no dressing, no ketchup, no utensils, zero napkins. I picked at the chicken bites since they at least had sauce and threw the rest out. What a waste. Please do better. read more

I had my daughter's 18th birthday/ HS graduation here a couple days ago. The manager Kris was easy to work with and she was patient with my indecisiveness about the meal and bar choices. During the event, the staff were all friendly and professional, and they stayed on top of picking up dirty dishes off the tables. Our guests were very happy with the food, it was hot and tasteful. Visited this delectable, unpretentious brewery this past weekend for a birthday celebration. I love that they only serve locally made liquor. The food was a little more than the standard bar food-well seasoned and prepared! Other than our waitress being somewhat snarky and being harassed by another table for our group not wearing face coverings, it was a good time. We were grateful the owner took the time to come to our table. Final note: People are not actually bothered by you not wearing a mask. If they were, they would just stay away from you. They are bothered that you have the courage to be resistive. They are bothered by your strength and non-compliance because it shines a light on their weakness. read more

Wow! We were headed home from a soccer game and decided to stop here for dinner. We are SO GLAD we did! We called on our way to reserve a table. We were greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. Our server, Kelsey, was friendly and helpful, sharing with specials for the day. The beers (IPAs for my husband, darker beers for me) were fantastic. And. The. Food. We started with the cheesesteak nachos, which were so perfectly balanced! Each chip had some toppings on it, and they weren't salty like most nachos...just the authentic flavors shining through. We had burgers, shrimp tacos, and the fish and chips, and we were all thrilled with our meals. Our daughter wrapped it up with an Almond Joy cheesecake that was just out of this world! Had a fundraiser this evening that went horribly wrong. According to the staff that was working there this evening, they didn't even know there was an event tonight. They never tried to staff up, therefore they were extremely short handed with waitstaff and the kitchen. The owner clearly doesn't know how to run an organized restaurant. Despite everyone having a "reservation", they were running well over an hour late for each one. Hostesses were told to bus tables and not to worry about seating people, despite the fact that at least 8 families were all waiting for tables. This was the first and last time for this place. By the way, after waiting over an hour, we gave up and left which stinks for the fundraiser. The owner was CLEARLY try to save on the loss he was going to have by donating 20% this evening. I've been patronizing the Proper for three years now, and have never had a bad experience. Were there occasional visits where I wish the service was a little quicker? Sure, but that's the case with almost every establishment, especially when they are crowded, as is usually the case as I come at dinner time. You people with the mask phobias make me laugh. Proper was good enough to endure and stay open serving the public through the pandemic (when allowed by the fascists in Harrisburg), and managed to survive, but all you idiots can do is cry about how they did not observe proper mask protocols. Pretty rich, considering the Covid bug isn't contained at all by the regular masks you sheep cling to. Grow a pair. And the rest of you make sure to give Proper a try. From my first conversation with the tag team of Kris and Brian it was evident that I was working with professionals. They were as interested in me the person as much as the service I would hopefully provide. They listened well, were gracious in their understanding as we worked through logistics and then trusting as I was allowed to provide the service I am skilled in, Dj'ing. Stopped in after my daughter cheered at a football game. We were the away team. We figured after driving 40+ minutes there we might at well try a nice local place for lunch. This is a local brewery. They have quite a few brews on tap along with some local wines. I appreciate that they support other local businesses. Apparently the building was an old theater which they use that part as an event room. We had a flight of beer - Blondie Bree, Gabi Wit, Apri-Not, The Proper Snakebite. All delish, but I really likes the Snakebite. My husband preferred the Blondie. We split the bbq pork sandwich - they make their own bbq sauce - so good. The sweet potato fries were not that great. I don't eat a lot of fried food, so it has to be worth it. Not worth the calories; they lacked flavor. But overall we really like the atmosphere. The bartender was super friendly and wish we lived closer. This would be a local spot for us if it was nearby. read more

My squash ravioli had great flavor- unfortunately when he brought it it was cold. Dirty dishes sat on our table through the entire evening . Really sad, this could be a great place ! To clarify, the manager did come out to check on us after I posted this review. We are local and frequent brewpubs and other restaurants frequently and understand the COVID regulations but have had excellent experiences at many other restaurants with the same restrictions . Nice little brewery in downtown Quakertown. My wife and I were visiting from San Diego and my family took us out promising that this was the hippest spot in Q-Town and I can confirm that. While it doesn't really hold a candle to San Diego's brewery scene, it's about as good as a small town brewery can be. We went on a Monday night and the dining room was deserted aside from one other couple. The bar was about half full and had 8-10 TVs showing various sports. Our group, who aren't especially inclined to partake in libations, ordered only the stout and Cider Flight amongst us. The ciders were good, the Cherry Pie Cider stood out as the best of the flight. For appetizers we ordered the pretzel basket, the BBQ pork Mac and cheese, and onion rings. The onion rings were nothing special; the BBQ Mac and Cheese was out-friggin-standing and could easily be ordered as an entree (my mom [a light eater] ordered it as an entree and had leftovers). The pretzel basket was a bit disappointing mix of soft pretzel bits and just thin pretzels (probably an appetizer meant for two); it came with three dips, one was stone ground mustard and another was spicy brown mustard (seemed superfluous) but for only $4 it's understandable, (just order one for every two people in your party). For dinner was had: -Cheeseburger: good -Meatlover's burger: not especially flavorful -No Soul burger: very spicy, has spicy sauce on top and bottom bun, didn't need both, IMO -Cheesesteak Grinder: good, basic -BBQ Mac and Cheese: still amazing -Buffalo Burger: flavorful, a little heavy on bleu cheese -Chicken Finger basket (our a kid): one of best I've seen; four huge, delicious chicken tenders, easily enough for an adult and only $7 Criticisms: -it's 2016, who's still putting iceberg lettuce on pub burgers? Arugula, spinach, or spring mix would class up the burgers another notch. -the fries came with a brown sugar type seasoning that made them oddly sweet. No one at our table thought the seasoning was an improvement on regular salted fries. -had to ask twice for plates to split up appetizers and more napkins, kind of annoying especially since there were only two tables occupied (though is assume the server was covering the bar tables as well) and the server suggested the little plates in the first place! All-in-all, a very solid effort at modern brewery chic and very, very reasonably priced (the craft brews regular prices are better than happy hour prices I'm used to). Will certainly add it to the rotation when I'm back visiting in the future. read more

This was my second visit to The Proper, and it still is living up to expectations. Last night I shared a draft beer flight, ginger chicken tacos and the buffalo Mac and cheese balls! The food items were both on the specials list and were mouth watering and delicious! The beers were good my favorite being the Gabi Wit, which is a refreshing citrus beer. I also tried their "Witch's brew" which is their seasonal pumpkin beer... it wasn't my favorite but definitely fun to try for the time of year. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and attentive.
