Her in-home puppy kindergarten session proved to be one of the best investments I've made in a long time. Prior to Joana coming, Lana was mouthing a lot. Those puppy teeth can hurt, so I had to nip this in the bud. She also would try relentlessly (but still fail due to her small size) to get a bite of my dinner, jump on the couch, etc. It feels like my girl did a complete 180 over night. In addition to helping me understand commands, Joana made other great recommendations. For example, I couldn't be more thrilled with the food she suggested. Lana not only LOVES her food, but she is and will continue to be much healthier as a result. If it weren't for Joana, Lana wouldn't be the girl she is today. As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. There are no commands - there is no speaking. You do not see a Mama look at one pup and go "woof woof woof" look at the next pup and go " woof woof woof" That's just not reality. Dogs communicate through emotions and body language, and that is how we communicate with them. Just like working with horses the direction is minimal; it is the handler's calm and confident state of mind that enforces that direction.

She is on the mend and much better with love, care and lots of Reiki treatments :) However she still needed obedience and to learn to be a good doggie with manners and to walk on a leash properly but almost every puppy training class declined her due to not having "choke" collar and I was told it is a strict protocol to have her on it to be in class even though she is only 12 pounds. I tried a school and while it is a positive and fun school for her it was not helping with walking on a lead and her focus issues that is typical for a terrier breed. I cannot thank Greg enough for his approach and expertise! YOU are truly an amazing dog trainer! Greg came to my house for one session and literally put it all in synch for Brandi and me :) He did not even consider the harness he was able to gain her attention, control and respect within one hour and without choking her with a collar. We took in a rescue dog that we had fostered when he was a little puppy, after it has been given up…read moreby his family. He was treated well, but was very isolated and therefore was challenging with other people and animals. Iohana came over a few times to review our dog and give us helpful ways to overcome his aggression. She started us on clicker training with him, something I had not used before. Thanks to her training and teaching us, the dog is making strides and we have high hopes that he will be fully adoptable in the future. Would recommend her without hesitation! Pat is truly amazing. We have two dogs, a cat and a nine month old, so most days we live in…read moreorganized chaos. We have had other "trainers" before but none like Pat. Our main goals were to address poor manners when people came over (jumping/barking), poor leash manners (pulling/leading the walk/leash aggression for one of them), and all around general behavior training. We wanted, and needed, help to rectify these things before our son became truly mobile. We emailed Pat on a Friday night and he called the next day. We spoke for over an hour and he reassured us that things would be okay. We scheduled a training session for later that week and haven't looked back. He is an incredible teacher; he took the time to learn about our dogs, our family dynamic, and what our hopes were for the training sessions. He began teaching us right away and showed us how to get into the minds of our dogs. We are five sessions in and there has been such a vast improvement already. We are currently working on walking both dogs and pushing the stroller - a dream of mine - that is soon to be a reality. We genuinely look forward to each session and getting to hang with Pat.
