Good food but we were made to wait 80-90 minutes! Three of us went to Quintal Cafe for lunch. We placed our order at the cashier (there is no table service) and we waited and waited and waited. After 15 minutes one of us went to the cashier and asked. We were told our sandwiches would be ready in 5 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes another one of us went to the cashier and asked. We were told that our order would be ready in 5 more minutes. After 45 minutes we asked again. We were rudely told that "I am only the person who takes orders. "I have no control of how food is prepared and delivered to the tables." We waited 1 hour 15 minutes. We were the only customers left in the restaurant. We asked again and was told the same thing: "I have no control of how food is prepared and delivered to the tables." She checked and was told it was still an open order even though there were no other orders. Finally between 80 minutes and 1.5 hours after we ordered, our three very simple sandwiches were brought to us. Non of the three orders required any cooking at all. They were only sandwiches. IF YOU WANT TO SPEND AN ENTIRE AFTERNOON SITTING WAITING FOR THREE SIMPLE SANDWICHES, THIS PLACE IS FINE FOR YOU. read more

Terrific place. We had lunch and tried the Club Sandwich it was epic. Staff was very nice and we could see the chefs in the back from our table hard at work and turning out homemade wonderful food. read more

The scallop crudo, lamb ragu, and crab appetizer and the lobster main were all really stellar. The wait staff were attentive and just lovely people. None of this surprises us because it was highly reviewed on another site and some restaurant staff in St John's raved about it. If you're in the area, check it out. Everything they make is satisfying--and they bake all their delicious breads, bagels and pastries in-house. Soups and salads are always great. They're fresh and have sophisticated flavors. It's vegetarian and has gluten free options. They serve wine and beer. Their coffee is excellent and it may be the only local place that makes cappuccino during the day. The view out the window is of Trinity Bay. They post recipes on their website.

Interesting and comfy interior. Not many patrons. I noted that one must walk completely into and around to the rear to get to the counter to order or be served. A chalkboard included teas, wines, coffees and a few desserts. I suppose I had been spoiled by Port Rexton's Two Whales cafe and Fishers' Loft but i ordered the berry pie a la mode. I must say that the pie had the most inedible and unappealing-looking crust I have ever seen. It tasted like I imagine cardboard tastes. The filling was tasty but not special. Quite a disappointment for this village.
