This was a place that was very much needed in Lake Wales and I am very proud of the families that opened it up. I was excited to have a change up in a food spot to visit when seeing my dad. I ordered a coffee (I think it was the Honey bee or something) and it was honestly AMAZING. I also had their chicken salad for lunch while my husband had their pulled pork and my dad had their Cuban. Everything was delicious and I loved my bean salad too! Kids had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and they enjoyed them along with the chips it came with. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was nice as well. I saw a couple tables there enjoying books and it seems like a cute little place to read. I will definitely be back on our next visit. read more

I was lamenting the lack of a wine bar in Lake Wales so this was a welcome discovery on my last visit. Not only are they a taproom but they also serve coffee. It is the best of both worlds. Caffeinate up or wine down! I was in town for the 39 Mile Scenic Ridge Yard Sale and was in desperate need of caffeinated refreshment. The Ranch Taproom & Coffeehouse to the rescue. Jessica Garrett, a Lake Wales native was walking around the downtown in the fall of 2019 with her mother Cathy Becton Garrett, when the ladies spotted an empty 103 year old historic building. For years it had been an office supply store but it had damage from Hurricane Charley and had sat vacant for 20 years. Jessica worked with Lake Wales Main Street to see what would be the best fit for the space. Ultimately she was inspired by the lack of a wine bar and her mother's love of baking which led her to create The Ranch. With grants from the Community Redevelopment Agency, she was able to make her vision come to fruition when The Ranch opened in April of 2001. About her business Jessica has said "Being Lake Wales natives we are excited to be a part of downtown. We look forward to being a destination where people can gather with family and friends to experience delicious food, coffee, beer and wine." I came in during the Lake Wakes 39 Mile Scenic Yard Sale which brings a lot of people into town. It was crowded but everyone was being cheerfully helped. The large room has a ranch theme with exposed wood beams and a large wall mural of cattle grazing in a field. They did a great job preserving the historic architecture which really gives the building character. The ladies share a sweet synopsis of their family history on the wall. On the coffee side they serve cold and hot coffee drinks including espresso, cappuccino, French press, lattes and frappes that are offered throughout the day. The lunch menu features five sandwich and three salads, ranging in price from $9 to $12. A specialty is a pimento grilled cheese inspired by Grandma Becton. I ordered a Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte from the fall menu. It was perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. I was curious about their Orange Blossom Latte but next time. On the other side of the room are the adult beverages served at a bar. The taproom offers a varied selection of wine, craft brews, bottled beer and seltzers. In the afternoon they offer an appetizer only food menu that ranges in price from $6 to $20. Popular selections include cowboy caviar, charcuterie, deviled eggs, and pretzels and beer cheese. I do find it strange that they close at 3 PM every day. Downtown Lake Wales is in desperate need of some kind of nightlife and you would think that a place that serves alcohol would be open past 3 PM. I like that this is a small mother daughter business and that they rescued a historic building. Unfortunately downtown Lake Wales is a ghost town by 5 PM every day. While The Ranch is a great asset to the area, in order to make a transformative spark in the downtown, Lake Wales needs to start offering some kind of evening options. read more

The inside is really cute. It has reclaimed wood on the walls and a cement floor that has been stained a light brown. There is a nice mural of cows in a field on one wall. When we walked in we were promptly greeted and told to sit anywhere. The server came right over and brought menus and took our drink order. I ordered a coffee stout. I usually find stouts to be bitter however this one was very smooth and tasty. The Cuban was very good with a hint of bbq sauce on it and the BLT was on sourdough and loaded with bacon. It was all warm and fresh. Really great place for lunch. Looking forward to trying their breakfast next time. read more

This place is literally the BEST place in Lake Wales! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, absolute cleanliness and the nicest staff! This place has everything! From your deliciously crafted morning latte to your bomb.com lunch and of course you can't forget your evening glass of wine/beer/cider! They have an amazing array of home baked goods that include blueberry scones, absolutely delicious carrot cake, amazing muffins and so much more! Their lunch/dinner menu is filled with gourmet sandwiches, salads and absolutely magnificent soup and of course a kids menu! Not only that, they have a great variety of beer on tap! Loved their story and the menu so we stopped when passing through Lake Wales. Cute place. Recognized the owner from the website. We sat at the bar and it was not at all busy. Service was crazy slow. Took nearly 30 minutes to get soup which we asked ahead of our sandwiches (since it took about 15 minutes to place our order). The owner was around constantly and no eye contact ever made. The chicken salad sandwich was mediocre - lacked seasoning. The broccoli cheddar soup was good and came with the sandwiches despite our request. The Cuban was good. Took so much longer than it should have. Guess it's a spot for the locals. read more

Atmosphere, food and customer service is excellent! Staff are helpful and friendly. Iced Coffee is pretty good!

They don't have a hood so not much in the way of cooked food. Salads are good and ample proportions. Sandwiches also good. Always sweets around. Service is good but don't expect a lot of banter. Owners are mom and daughter. Friendly but don't make suggestions or you are quickly off the 'friend' list. Never know if they are going to be open. Don't expect that bc it's a taproom, it will be open in the evenings. Nope, only day they are open past 3pm is Friday. Closed a lot for a variety of reasons. Very loud inside. read more

Excellent superb menu and service. help a wedding rehearsal dinner at The Ranch and it was an absolute success!! The professional personal touch of the chef, wait staff and management ensured that everyone had the best of time for this event. The food was exquisitely prepared right down to the incredible homemade oatmeal cream cookies that were to die for. The bar was exceptionally well stocked with craft beers and drinks candy the specialty coffees were the best!
