Let me start by saying that this place takes CASH ONLY. I unfortunately didn't bring British Pounds with me the day I went here. I figured all places I've been to take credit cards so will this place. Wrong! I got a cone of gianduja and hazelnut gelato. I was handing my card over to the lady behind the counter who pointed to a small note that says "Cash only". My heart dropped. I only had $20 and my credit card with me! The lady was kind enough and trusted me to come back with cash. There's an ATM a few doors down but for some reason, I couldn't get money (I notified my bank before leaving the US that I was traveling - exact dates and countries). Panic! I walked around town looking for another ATM or bureau de exchange. Marks & Spencer is where I found luck! After 30 minutes, I came back to pay for my gelato. I'm thankful for the delicious gelato and for the lady's kindness of not making an embarrassing moment even more embarrassing! They have many different flavors: stracciatella, cherry, chocolate, coffee, pistachio, etc. They have affogato, milkshakes, coffee, and waffles. Cute little place! The ice-cream was fresh, with great flavor. Yes, it is more like ice-cream than gelato. They only accept cash and you are only allowed to try one flavor so you better choose wisely. Costumer service could use some improvements. read more

When we visited the Roman Baths, we found ourselves with an unexpected 30min before we had to catch our tour bus. Walking around the Bath area, we came upon some neat novelty stores and quaint bookshops. Then we noticed that lots of people had these fantastic looking ice cream cones. A few inquiries led us to the Real Italian Ice-Cream shop, crowded and full of tourists. We decided to give it a try and weren't disappointed. I had Belgian chocolate and strawberry shortcake. It was fabulous. Creamy, not too sweet, great flavors, and not too soft like gelatto or too hard like American ice cream. And the portions were generously huge. If we didn't have to catch our bus, I probably would have hopped back in for seconds. read more

Found this place while walking around in Bath. Very close to the main attraction which is the Roman Baths. They have a great selection of ice cream. But we normally get the crepes. Crepes are made fresh to order. A lot of other places have them pre made which do not taste very good. Does not have a great amount of seating area but it's a nice cosy place. Make sure you bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. read more

Excellent gelato and crepes. I had their chocolate gelato one time and came back and had their Nutella crepe. Both were pretty good. It's one of the few ice cream shops on a street with a lot of ice cream shops that actually stays open later than 5 so it makes it very convenient. Excellent service as well. The shop is however a little small so you may have to wait for a table, take it to go or if you are a larger party pull together some chairs and tables. read more

This ice cream is simply the best! The shop is fairly small and you normally have to queue outside but the selection of flavours is very good and the taste and texture is amazing. I didn't realise their was a factory (as lisa24 mentions); I've never seen anything to tell you when you;re there. I'll have to ask next time I go. Its just round the corner from the Abbey so easy to get to if you are visiting the sites in Bath. read more

Gelato average , however the the girl behind the counter was impatient , rude & trying to get us to order as soon as we entered the shop. Yes , it was 30 min to closing, no excuse for bad behavior. I have visited the Real Italian ice cream company several times whilst in Bath. There are many different and unusual flavours to choose from, for example- tiramisu, mint, chocolate, toffee, trifle, milk, etc. The prices are reasonable and portion size is good. They also serve waffles and hot drinks. The place itself is small and cosy and best of all they are open till 11pm- sometimes later. I would definetly recommend a visit. read more

It was fine. A long line and crowded shop for an average number and range of flavors. I had the biscotti ice cream, which was tasty but soon lost any distinctive flavor. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. The taste is very average; just not much flavor. I ended up throwing most of my coconut ice cream away. Be aware that you are only allowed to taste one flavor, which means no comparing to see what you'd like best. They sell very nice ice creams with a very wide variety of flavours, it is a very small shop and often as very large quese but it's very worth it, the prices are quite expensive but it gives a very good treat especially for the children, just dont let them get vanilla as there are so many flavours to choose from, they also sell very good waffles which i highly reccomend. read more
