My son picked out his birthday present here, and it quickly became his favorite toy. When it broke within a week and I brought it back to the store the owner replaced it without even asking for a receipt because she remembered my son from the week prior. When you're seeking clothes, toys and gifts for kids and babies, I recommend that you make this your first stop. It will likely be your last, because they have a stellar selection of kids toys (many great for childhood development and fun) and the cutest kids clothes. You can save yourself hours at a mall or one of those nasty chains you probably don't want to go to. I recently went in there and came out with a several gifts, all in about 30 minutes. The customer service is top notch - they're friendly, know their products, and can give good advice on what to pick based on your needs, and the kids' ages/interests. For winter holidays, they have both Christmas and Hanukkah themed gifts (clothes, pajamas, knitwear). They carry Mini Rodini, one of my favorite kids brands. They get bonus points for being well staffed - having enough staff to give 1:1 help to customers even during the holiday rush. (What in the world does this name mean? Reckless? I know it is a sort of ironic affectionism for the owner's child but ... talk about marketing taboos.) Well, anyway, I renamed it in my pictures as the Restless Unicorn. We stumbled on this place on our way to brunch recently and popped in, as there are kids all over the place that we like to get gifts for. I was taken by the space pjs in the window - cute! The inside is very small and very well stocked and organized. Lots of interesting toys, clothes, decorative items that would be perfect for parents who are a bit conscious about consuming. So, a conscious curator is behind the scenes here. I particularly like their substantial stock of Manhattan Toy products -- educational, fun, beautiful, made mostly from properly resourced wood. This is the place to get gifts for people who know the difference between an upscale nichery like this and, well, the Big Box stores that are all we have apart from Amazin' online. These were the stores I frequented in NYC when my children were small and are hard to find in LA these days (and maybe even Manhattan?). Also, I want to address the comments about customer service. The friendly, smiling girl who greeted us handled the situation just right. She welcomed us, probably sized us up as harmless, and then offered help and stepped away to let us browse in comfort, which we did, even though we were in a hurry. Consider the peril a lone individual faces with one open door to just about anyone who walks in these days. In some areas here and in NY, the doors are locked and you have to be buzzed in! This store should be called "The Uptight Unicorn." I've lived in Los Feliz for years and have shopped there many times for friends' babies and kids, and then for my own baby. But the first time I took my son in as a toddler, the sales clerk (not the owner) was incredibly rude and stressed out about my son touching things. He was being calm and quiet, not running, didn't break anything (and ofc I would have bought it if he had, but he didn't), and we were the only people in the store -- but she made snarky comments TO HIM and even took a greeting card out of his hand. At one point he reached out to touch what looked like a plastic helmet, and she actually yelled at him, "NOT THAT! NOT THAT!" (Maybe if you have something you don't want a kid to touch, I dunno, don't put it right at kid level??) It was an awful experience, and I haven't been back since. A nice but small selection of items for each age group including books, dolls, clothes and musical toys, instruments and games. Nice folks run the place. Reckless unicorn has an incredible selection of book, toys and clothing. This much is evident by their window display. Had I not been offered help in locating anything, I still would've left with a good experience. What unfortunately soured my visit to Reckless Unicorn was the feeling I get when being followed in a store, which is crazy to think still happens. This store isn't very large and its very obvious when an employee trails right around me without offering to help me locate an item but continues to stare me down. What also didn't help was the employee asking to take my bag (of food from the amazing Cafe Los Feliz) to the counter as well as the other items I was planning to purchase. Again, I'm any other scenario I wouldn't have thought twice, except for the fact that they'd already made me feel uncomfortable and there were plenty of other women with bags in their hands who were not being treated similarly. Such an adorable small store filled with unique finds & great for gifts since they have a little of everything. My little one loves this store since she always spots something she wants to take home. I love their toy selection as well since they are educational. Of course the theme is unicorn so you can't go wrong here. The staff is super friendly as well which is definitely something I enjoy walking into. Items are in the pricier side in comparison to Zara being one of the stores I always shop at for my little ones but definitely understandable since this store isn't a large chain of retail stores. Will return here & I'm looking forward to winter time since I saw the cutest track suits so I'll definitely come back ! This place is amazing. I've ordered for pickup a couple times here during Covid, and each time the staff has been SO helpful, considerate, and personable. All of their merchandise is super high quality too! I'm assuming the older gray haired man who is there managing there must be the owner. Whoever he is,he gave my son who is only 9 months old dirty looks. The ladies who are the staff were amazing. Too bad, i ended up not buying anything because i felt so uncomfortable he kept looking at me as if i was trying to steal, i even smiled at him and he let it be known he didn't like me. He was nice to the other people who were there who were of same race. He completely stereotyped me or is racist because i am Hispanic and my son is mixed black [he is white] very sad that i had to feel this way. When i left he left the shop with me and followed behind me to my car. Not a good experience. The shop itself looks very nice. My son loves looking around, very small shop. The items in the shop although i love them are very pricey. A simple amazon search and you can find the same item for at least $10 less. If you don't mind overpaying then you should be fine. Very colorful and nice regardless. I pray for that man and hope he finds love in his heart no matter what color a person is. Update. This is a magical haven for kids and parents alike! Not only do they have (by far) one of the best curated selections of clothing, toys, books and gifts...walking in transports you into another time. The store is gorgeous and fun (not an easy combo to achieve. The owners are the sweetest and most helpful people, its no wonder they own a kids store. I had heard about this store and a service they do on Los feliz the podcast. It was that if you call them up, and need a gift picked out, wrapped and ready for pick up that they could do that no problem. Today I had to get to a birthday party with no time to get to a shop and get a gift. I rememberd the podcast, and called the ole' unicorn right at 10 am. Sarah, quickly took my email down and sent photos of items that I inquired about. I picked out some things, and they wrapped them and had them ready to pick up on way to store. I was working for a delivery food service and I was new to the area and parked behind the stores with my emergency lights on because I was unsure where to park. After doing what i needed to do i noticed a car behind me and they told me they need to park in there and i told them i had to go the opposite direction and would move. As I was pulling out of the driveway I had to do 4 stops to get out of such a tight 1 way road since the lady would not move and was blocking the road. As soon as i made the first 2 stops they became very hostile and motioning with her hands telling me to get out. I literally heard her yelling from her car through my car I had to put my hand up twice to tell her to stop and give me time because I /was/ getting out of her way. She continued to rush me and come to find out she is the owner of this store. They should be more kind to strangers who are not their customers read more

Was in the area and spotted this store! Super cute and adorable. They carry very cute clothes and have super special toys. I was in the store maybe 10-15 minutes and left with $270 dollars worth of merchandise. When I got home I realized that the construction of a $40 baby shirt was pretty bad, so I came by today to exchange it and the manager told me they were not doing exchanges. I'm pretty upset that this notice is nowhere in the store, the receipt doesn't mention anything about this. She said to me that she's been TRYING her best to tell people and that it's a precaution for the virus--- no other retail store that I know is doing this. I'm not really sure what this is about. When I was shopping I touched at least 20-30 items so I'm not sure what that means.... I was there alone with this manager picking clothes for my baby and a friend and she didn't mention it to me once. Anyway, I appreciate the normal precautions they are taking mandated by the city but I think it's totally messed up that they didn't warn me and I think this precaution is pretty unreasonable. The city would make it a requirement if returning and item was a hazard. She shouldn't TRY to tell people, they should just update the receipt and announce it officially.
