A maximalist fever dream. Iconic for a reason. There are items for every possible taste. Filled w inclusivity and care, the warmth and love of the staff permeated the store. Rows after rows of merchandise to appeal to every possible theme, need, or want.

I've loved this store for decades. Great/unique gift ideas and fun collectables. I can't visit without spending 30-60 minutes just going down every aisle. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I usually replace my wacky oven mits (because why not giggle everytime I cook) or some fun socks. I space out buying Doctor Who or Godzilla finds. My only problem is that my place looks just like this place. Seriously. It makes me upset that I am not the store. Thank you.

29/11/25-An East Hollywood institution. One of the best shops in L.A. I've been going here since 2000. The La Luz Gallery always has something Far Out Man! I shopped here on Shop Local Saturday. It was busy. Good to see people supporting the little guy. See my fotos for my treasures I found. OMG! You have to come here or you will definitely miss out!

We were wandering around Los Feliz and stumbled upon this unassuming shop. You couldn't quite tell what to expect, but we felt an irresistible energy drawing us inside, and I'm so glad we went in! It was definitely Hollywood Weird, and we loved every moment! There truly is something for everyone here. My wife especially loved the Mickey Mao! As a "dirty old man," I appreciate anything that caters to our kind. I even bought some cockroach bag clips to prank my mother-in-law. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who enjoys eccentric goods.

First time here. They have a large rubber chicken in the front and the workers allowed me to squeeze to make it squeak really loud. They also have these wind up toys they let me play with. Felt like a kid in a candy shop. This place has soo many unique items that I was overwhelmed and I didn't get to look at everything. I could spend more half the day inside jus playing with the items if they let me. This place has a pretty good collection of Godzilla from books to toys and figurines. They have items from ghibli mostly totoro, frida khalo items as well. I really liked their wind up toys. They even have a small museum inside. There was frank forte and Die Sugoi exhibit. I would come again and take my niece and nephews here... to get them godzilla items.

My kinda store, filled with a wide range of fun and interesting merchandise, including Edward Gorey puzzles, bunny themed items, books, kitchenware, clothing, so much stuff perfect for gift giving, and quirky products galore. Unfortunately, the art gallery in the back of the shop was closed when we came by this past Monday. But we got some sage incense and an adorable bunny art card before leaving. Service was fast and friendly, and street parking was difficult in the area but not impossible to find.

Such a fun spot! I could spend a lot of time here. So much to see. Great place to grab wacky gifts for your wacky friends. Friendly service. Decent value for a big city.

Such a fun and funky store. Great for gifts you can find pretty much everything here! I was looking for something specific and the staff was so helpful! Love it here

I first visited Wacko when I was an impressionable high school goth kid who didn't get a lot of exposure to goth and alternative culture beyond the internet. Back in my teens, I fell head over heels in love with this place because I felt seen and validated and loved the books and items they carried. I still have my copy of "Art that Creeps: Gothic Fantasies and the Macabre" from my very first visit here! They carry sooo many books from various pop surrealist artists such as Mark Ryden, and a lot of books from gothic and alternative artists and photographers. There are many knick knacks, toys, and plushies geared towards people interested in these niches. Before my most recent trip in May 2023, the last time I paid a visit to Wacko was was 10 years ago. I'm SO HAPPY Wacko survived the pandemic! I felt so nostalgic walking through the store aisles again. Now that I'm a corpo goth working professional, I feel forever thankful to Wacko for being a safe space for younger me. The staff and customer service was so welcoming, and I really enjoyed having conversations with them too.

A small glimpse of offerings. Planters pictured here.

My favorite place to be in Los Angeles. Come for incredible art, toys, books, decor, soap/fragrances and just about everything you could look for in the fringe, vintage, strange, melancholic, dark, wacky, beautiful side of this city. There's a robust selection of books and the La Luz De Jesus art gallery on-site always has mind blowing, incredible pieces of art. A very helpful and kind staff of passionate people in a place unlike any I know that has something for everyone at fair prices. I love you Soap Plant Wacko.

    Welcome to Wacko.

If you love that classic old bookstore smell, this place has it in full. Personally it's not my favorite, but definitely worth noting for those who do. The main downsides are parking and crowds. Finding a spot by car can be a challenge, and the store draws a good number of tourists so it can get pretty packed. If you're not a fan of crowds, just keep that in mind before you go.

And I love some novelty items, art and tools for/of reading, even more so when it's very affordable. The Studio Ghibli is pretty nice as are various sections for music, history, spiritual and comic related things. Literally was whelmed with great finds, but decided to make my first trip (of many) in a leisure one to get familiar with the store. Great stationary. Great service and just great overall. Some of the isles can feel a little congested when there's an influx of foot traffic, put are still easy to navigate through as well as around. While in Korea, I didn't know that Incheon Airport would have shipping boxes for excess luggage, so when I thought I would be limited by just the space I left for souvenirs and other gifts in my bags, I could've bought all seven Harry Potter books. As you can tell by the town I'm in, I'm in the Bay Area. Here in the Bay, we don't have a lot of Korean bookstores, and the one I could find here didn't really focus on fiction/fantasy books. I found this place after searching the internet for "Korean bookstores in LA/SoCal." I called and asked the staff if they had Harry Potter. They said they didn't, but they told me that if I found some store back in Korea that had what I was looking for, they told me to email them the link or something and then they would order the books for me. When I pointed out that by that logic, if I could find a book by myself and then pay for the store to mail the books directly to me, customs and all, then I'd just be doing their job. The employee told me to "take it or leave it," and they acted completely shocked that I did leave.
