Look I like having options so the fact that they put the condiments on the side for the soul purpose of giving the customer the option to put as much sauce on a sandwich as you'd like is great. I mean if and only if I was an infant child or so incompetent that I found the intricate construction of club sandwich so dumbfounding that I couldn't figure out how to disassemble said sandwich then I'm sure I would also find the arduous task of applying my own condiments too difficult. If I managed to reach that level of ineptitude in my life then I would very much not appreciate being given the condiments on the side, but fortunately for me at least I'm a fully grown capable adult so it was mor of a benefit then a hinderance. read more

If you go in and your order is wrong, don't say anything. You'll be bashed all over Facebook and have a sandwich named after you but not in a nice way. The food here is marginal at best as is the service. We use to go in a few times a month but won't return. read more

Casual atmosphere with a fun " diner" feel and excellent wait staff! Had the zucchini chips as an appetizer and saw MANY other tables ordering the same-so delish. I ordered the Jo-Jo with onions rings, very tasty and I asked for mayo and it was on the side for me to determine just how much I wanted on my sandwich-just the way it should be! Frito Pie was tasty! Learned they also serve breakfast-we WILL BE BACK!!! Oh and the ice cream, milkshakes! Please go give it a try! read more

This was a couple of months ago, I ordered food to go and was extremely disappointed. The salads I ordered were salty, the sandwich I ordered was incorrect the cashier was rude just bad experience. Called the next day spoke to the MOD who got offended since she cooked my meals, would not let me talk and actually hung up on me. Called back later spoke to the manager she apologized and said I would be getting a refund since all of this happened. Gave her my address and still nothing. Says a lot when the owner doesn't even stick to their word, haven't been back and obviously don't need to. read more

One of the neatest places in town. It's a blast from the past with some great updates. The icecream creations are tasty. The owner and his wife are always there working hard and taking time to say hi to all of their customers. The sourdough cheeseburger with wedge fries is my favorite. I liked it a lot, but still feel the need to nitpick a bit. Of course the ice cream s excellent, that is what Swensens is famous for, The food was good, but could be better. I have been twice. First time I ordered the Blue Max, and the second time The Motherload. Blue Max was a good sandwich, however the small shriveled pieces of bacon that were on it was a dissapointment. The Motherload was a tasty roast beef and peppers sandwich, but was very lacking in the meat department. How can you call something the motherload and only put three thin slices of roast beef on it? Still as I said this is mostly nitpicking. I'll be back for the ice cream if nothingn else. read more

Pretty disappointed in this establishment. Never received our food. The waitress was nice and the never fully submitted the order. What was most disappointing was that the management didn't do anything to make it right. Ended up leaving with crying kids and hungry. The only thing they offered was a scoop of ice cream! There are 8 employees working today. Counting our party of 6, there are a total of 13 customers in the restaurant. We ordered 6 deserts and they came out one at a time and took over an hour to make them. My son spilled water on our table and the staff just stared at us. We cleaned it up ourselves then about 5 minutes later one if the staff came by with a towel asking if we got it all. Probably our last visit here. read more

This place looked promising from the outside but once I got my food I was really disappointed. Staff is friendly though, no complaints there. I ordered a sandwich called "The Motherlode" which consisted of two slices of roast beef, a clump of sauteed onions and ONE strip of green bell pepper. For 6.50 it was really disappointing since I can go to Subway and get a foot long sandwich with plenty of stuff in it for about the same price. I ordered a fruit cup for my side which was cantaloupe chunks and some grapes, some of which were soft. One of the grapes had a piece of mold growing on it. That was the last straw so I sent my plate back. I completely lost my appetite. That is really indicative of how the fridge is kept and cleaned. If there is mold on food you are serving, there is probably other things with mold in your fridges. Either you do not rotate your produce, don't wash it or don't clean your fridges. Ordered the bacon sandwich. Turns out they use the microwaved bacon and the bread was soggy with butter, definitely not edible. Unfortunately, I had to leave it and pick up lunch elsewhere. My recommendation would be do not put a blt on the menu if you are not willing to go to the effort of making decent bacon. read more

Overall the food is okay. I had a burger and it was really good other than the fact that it looks like that use frozen patties. The fries were great and so was the cookies and cream ice cream. It took about 30-35 minutes to get the food out which seemed like quite a while. Our waitress was really nice. Currently they are implementing mask until you sit at your table. Our waitress wore a mask but no gloves, so did the rest of the floor staff. I have no idea about the kitchen staff etc. read more

You can have a nice meal of a sandwich with several options for sides from sliced tomatoes, fruit, potatoe salad to fries as well as wonderful soups and salads. They of course have lots of ice cream creations to choose from to give your sweet tooth a happy face! Yikes. All the waiters were young and untrained, no sign of a manager who could at least give them direction. Food order was wrong, had to stop the waiter for everything including silverware and refills. Not much communication just grunts and yes but no sign of professionalism or respect for customers. Awesome restaurant, definitely one of the few things I miss about living in midland. Fried pickles are the best I've ever had in my entire life. THEY MAKE GREAT VEGGIE BURGERS. Service is fine, one of the few places where the owner still comes to see how you're doing. If you get a red plate, you get a free desert, which I won often as if I had someone on the inside. If you're passing through, which is the only reason you should be in midland, then check this place out! read more

The food and service is delicious! My family loves the ambience of 1950s dinner and the various types of ice cream. During peak hours it is always full and you may have to wait for a seat but the food will have you coming back! The fried pickles are scrumptious! We have always had good food & service at Swensen's. They have some specialty sandwiches you can't get at other places...I always like to get the Blue Max sandwich which has ham, turkey and blue cheese sauce on toasted rye bread with a thin slice of cheese on the outside. We never have a rock-in-the-stomach feeling after eating there, food is satisfying but not heavy. Also good ice cream. read more

The wedge fries were good, but the chicken tasted like it was cooked and then stored for a couple of days and microwaved. Our waiter also forgot that he was in fact our waiter.
