They're also non-slang for bread rolls. Yumms. What I like about this church is that it's pretty in a modern way and that it doesn't Chevrolet chin down your throat. That was supposed to say Shove Religion down your throat, but Chevrolet Chin is funnier. What I don't like about it is that the people coming here really do drink the Kool-Aid to an extreme degree and I guess you have to be Kool-Aid-infused to give up your precious time to come to a church and hear about stuff from thousands of years ago. I mean you have to be a Kool-Aid Drinker don't you? Or something. Somebody has to drag you here perhaps, if not the Kool Aid intoxication. The staff members make you feel at ease, welcome you to any future events, and will speak to you about being part of a "Life Group". (A community outside of the church) From my experience, the messages that are put out during service are very meaningful. They challenge me everyday to apply it towards family, work, and my community. Sometimes we, as people, might feel a little intimidated to attend church services. "It's not the right fit for me", "that Pastor is sending the wrong message", or the all too common one...."All they want is MY money!!!" I can assure you that the staff/members of New Hope aren't into this. We're very friendly and genuinely care about how you're doing and feeling. If you're looking for a GREAT home, look no further. I challenge you to attend at least one Sunday service. Look up 2 Corinthians 5:7 and really think about what that means to you. You pick up a bulletin with the order of service and the very well marked and easy to follow along reading and responses. They have "Word and Sacrament" each service, which means they do Communion/Lord's Supper each service. The demographics of this church is breathtaking. People from all over the country and the world, from all ethnicities and age groups, join in worship. It is absolutely beautiful to see so many different people united as we partake in communion (which they do walk down to the front to take, but you do not have to if you do not want to.) The nursery and children's area is wonderful. The nursery is professionally staffed and the security is top notch. There is also a family room/ nursing room available for moms with infants with the service live streamed on a tv. We enjoy the music, the sermons, and the liturgy each week. They also have a variety of small groups you can join to really get plugged in and get to know people deeper. We like the reverence and how the service engages our intellect as well as our hearts. The Rector & Dean (the main Father/Preacher/Pastor dude) loves CS Lewis, so if you are an avid CS Lewis fan, it's a real treat to hear him incorporate Lewis quotes and stories into the sermon. I've been going to Christ Church for years and the only way it wasn't friendly was if you walked in with your head and eyes down and sat alone. The sermon alone that day would have made you sit on the edge of your seat. The preaching is bible based, and blended with the issues of today in a phenomenal way. Father Paul was a Canadian but claims Texas and says y'all! He is a former Athiest, Actor, Singer, lover of hockey, and is truly an amazing preacher...He was chosen in a worldwide search to replace the founder, Father David Roseberry, who started the church 36 years before and was retiring. Father Paul has been here for 4 years and the Church continues to grow and is one of the largest in North America. There are a host of small groups, men and women's programs, classes, missions, and activities you can join to help find your way in life. Christ Church is where I found Christ and really only went because my parents went there. I was a tough nut to crack but it only takes one sermon which makes you think it was written for you. It happens a lot now. This guy really gets me!! Chris P. I don't think you went to the correct church, and I don't think you were giving anyone any reason to approach you. This church really loves people and serves their community both locally and globally. It's not just…read morewords for them. It's in their actions. They are heavily involved in working with local schools to provide for the needs of the kids from lower income families; they've spearheaded a movement helping meet the needs of all the families with special needs kiddos in their community and those surrounding; and they are really heavily involved in providing for the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of kids in the foster system and have a camp every summer for those kids. Also, they started a church plant in a maximum security prison. Talk about being the hands and feet of Jesus!
