I have attended Houses of Worship-Churches for years and never truly became plugged in; till now. What a place to connect with authentic and genuine broken people who need Jesus. Not that other Churches aren't. Perhaps it was me and where I was in my life's journey. From the top-down; Pastor Josh to our Campus Pastor, Muri to the individuals welcoming you inside. If you get plugged in and participate in most any church you'll be enriched. When the leadership uses Gods Word as it written and shares the tough subjects; that's an indicator that The Spirit is present. 2 Corth. 3;17 is The Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Veterans programs, REgen to Youth groups that are thriving. Come see for your self. read more

I would not normally rate a church this low, however my one and only experience was so bad and painful for me, it deserved its rating. **This Review is for the Firewheel Campus** I went to the Saturday evening service at this church, and walked in and it was beautiful on the inside, was well laid out and had info at the front about what they offered for classes and outreach, etc. I walked into the sanctuary and sat down, and that is when it went sour. ALL the worship songs, were on full blast, where the Bass was so heavy and loud, it literally was hitting me in the chest where I could feel it, and was actually painful to listen to. Never have I ever heard Bass that strong and loud at any Church service, the volume of the Bass was louder than some concerts I have gone to, and the sanctuary there is relatively small to have such loud music, so there is simply no need to have Bass that strong at that volume. It completely ruined the worship experience for me, was not able to enjoy the music, or try to listen to the scripture message afterwards, with a POUNDING headache!!. It was not enjoyable at all, and that kind of volume is simply not needed or warranted. I ended up walking out while the music was playing just to save me more pain. I went back in after the songs were over to try to listen to the message, but my headache was too painful to focus on the message. Perhaps this is their normal volume on Saturday, I don't know. If so experiencing any pain at all during a Church worship experience, is not Worship at all, and certainly not a experience that I want any part of experiencing again, so I will not be going back to this one. The sound engineers need to be made aware of this, if they even care. Not everyone enjoys over the top loud music or bass. I am sure they felt it too, I was sitting near the back of the Sanctuary right in front of them. Unfortunately not a good experience for me, not going back. read more

You might be thinking, "Alright, AJ, is nothing sacred? You even need to tear up a church?" Well, the answer is, maybe. I think there are certain entities that you need to be able to trust- your church, your doctors, your parents,. . .you know that they have economic needs to survive and perhaps even thrive and you never begrudge this if it's being done in an above-board fashion, but profiting off of disingenuousness is IMO disgraceful. Hence this review. Not far from my home, Lake Pointe opened a satellite church. One weekend, some neighbors and I decided to go. Given that our area is somewhat youthful, the bulk of services are contemporary, and I have no complaints about this. We walked in, and very conspicuous were the membership office and a store for Christian merchandise. We walked into the chapel area and were seated. The main pastor gave a two or three sentence welcoming message and then got off stage. We then had a half-hour concert of a cover band playing contemporary Christian music. Following this, a screen dropped down and an associate pastor gave a half-hour sermon via televised live feed wherein he posthumously maligned the founder of Popeye's Chicken for not living a good life and then told us how to live a good life and passed around a collection basket. After church, my neighbor and I walked out and thought about what we'd just seen. A pastor was at his new church and instead of giving the sermon, he let an associate pastor do so. The pastor felt it was good Christian principle to assault the character of a dead person who couldn't defend himself and he assaulted him for his capitalistic life from the comfort of a media and sales center labeled a church. The rock band was outstanding and covered a few of the songs better than the original artists, but I didn't feel that I gained anything by going to this service that I couldn't have gotten by listening to a half hour of KLTY and watching a half hour of a fire and brimstone televangelist. After service I went to their website. It seems that about a third of the website is dedicated to asking for donations and tithing. They have a video on the website- in the video they comment on how they intentionally left their Baptist affiliation out because they didn't want people to have misconceptions about them. After viewing their website and sitting through a service, all of which seemed about as low key as a weekend getaway sponsored by a time-share condo sales team, I don't feel that I left with any misconceptions. If you attend this church, I mean no disrespect to you, your beliefs or the beliefs and practices of anyone affiliated with this church if they feel that their experience brings them closer to God. However, if I was trying to introduce a wayward cynical friend to Christianity, this is not where I'd bring him or her. EDIT: I've had time to think about my review, and while I detest the commercialism of some churches and this church is definitely not for me, they do offer a number of support and study groups and they DO perform alot of outreach to the poor. So, give a 2.5, which is up from my original one. Again, no intent to offend any of this church's supporters. read more

I love this church community. Here anyone will feel at home because everyone is welcomed with opened arms. The band is amazing as they sing praises to the Lord that opens the hearts of everyone present. My husband and I got baptized here and redeicated my life to God back in May and since then the church community has made sure to stay in contact with us, answering questions we may have, and helping us along our journey to get strengthen our relationship with God. This is an amazing community to be apart of. read more

I really enjoy going to this church. I alternate between the firewheel and Richland campuses. It is s great group of people at either campus. I recently got married and pastor Paul Dorsey did our premarital counseling as well as officiated the wedding. He was very good at making us feel comfortable (I normally get nervous in front of big groups) as we were saying our vows. I highly recommend him to officiate anyone's wedding. read more

Actually, I learned more about the inerrancy of the Bible, the foreknowledge of God, the truth about sin & salvation, the atonement on the cross by Jesus Christ, sharing my faith with others, & being a true follower of Christ instead of a Sunday morning "christian", at this church than I have anywhere else I personally have attended church. Yes, the message is via a video screen, but it is the head pastor & teaching pastor (real humans) giving the message. Truth is truth whether it is given live or electronically. Each satellite campus has a campus pastor & support staff to shepherd the congregation & reach out to the local community. If you choose to try Lakepointe Firewheel Campus, I'm sure you will find it warm & friendly. Though contemporary in style, it is orthodox in teaching & true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. read more
