If I could give a zero rating, I would without hesitation. Mom had a horrible experience here…read more After several months of neglect, we decided to move her to another assisted living facility. BUT ARBORS WILL NOT RETURN OUR SECURITY DEPOSIT. She often missed being given meds. Her hearing aids were lost. She fell twice and had to be hospitalized, and lost a tooth during the fall. Being incontinent, we'd hoped her diapers would be checked morning, mid-day and night, but they were changed infrequently. We visited 2-3 times weekly, and she was always urine-soaked. Arbors went through 3 different Executive Directors during Mom's stay. The current director had called us to a meeting, with veiled threats about only being obligated to give us 30 days notice before being forced to leave. We were devastated. We did not wait, and removed Mom quickly. Run from this place!!!!!

Mike's expertise and knowledge has been invaluable to us in helping to choose what services are needed and where to place my 89 year-old mother-in-law. Not only is he familiar with most facilities, he is astute in determining the "fit" that would be unique to each family. After narrowing down our choices, we were able to visit several places with Mike and have discussions with the various facility representatives. Mike was easily assessable by phone and email to answer any questions. He is also very knowledgeable of the many challenging aspects of elder care that we face today. We are so grateful for his compassionate, sincere and professional assistance in locating the perfect place for mom.

I'm flabbergasted by the high ratings this places gets on some sites and feel that many of these…read morereviews are fake. Some reviews call this place a hell-hole and I 100% agree! I had my parent at this facility and got them out within a few days because it was so bad. I chose the place because it was close to my home, it got good reviews and the social worker at the hospital my parent was at was awful and literally called me one day and said my parent was going to be released in a few hours. No warning, nothing....even though I had told the SW that I needed help to find a facility to transfer my parent to after their time at the hospital was over and I didn't want to be left in the lurch. I wanted time to research places, maybe even go visit them, seek out some referrals....and I had no time to do that. First of all, if you go to the website, you'll see bright, updated, clean rooms and my parent's room was old and dirty.....water stains on the ceiling, a filthy remote control, a tv that didn't work, a bed from the 1950s. The bathroom stunk and was disgusting with diarrhea all on the sides of the bowl (and it was not from my parent, who was bed-bound)....looked and smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in days. The first night I get a call that my parent is being disruptive....getting out of bed, banging on the wall, opening the window. I said, "How can that be? They were in a car accident and have multiple broken bones, a broken leg....how can they get out of bed?" "Well, that's what the roommate said." Did anyone see that? No. They said they'd "look into it". So, I knew I was dealing with a bunch of shady people. The staff speaks to each other in another language so you don't know what's being said which is rude. When I went to get a staff member to help lift my parent up in their wheelchair because they were sliding out, some young guy strolled over, looked totally bothered by the request and rolled his eyes. The last straw was when I was waiting for some paperwork to sign, a nurse (or member of the staff) was sitting with an elderly patient in the hall- I guess to keep an eye on him so he didn't fall. The old man was trying to chat with the staff member who was completely ignoring him because he was looking at his phone. After a few minutes, the old man got so upset that he was being completely ignored that he tried to get up and the staff member grabbed him and told him to sit down. He was really mean and definitely shouldn't have put his hands on the old man like he did. It was definitely unnecessary force. Oh, and EVERYONE is always on their phones.....do what you want during your breaks but sorry- you should not be on your phones when you're supposed to be working! When I saw all this, I told a nurse I was getting my parent out of there. Bottom line- take the good recommendations with a grain of salt. The pictures online are not a true representation of the place at all, most of the staff is completely indifferent to the patient's need- even negligent. Maybe this place is ok for someone who doesn't have a serious injury or who won't be there long but if your loved one is very ill, can't properly advocate for themselves and truly needs assistance, this place is NOT for you.

My mother was a patient at Emerge for about 1 month after significant back surgery. The experience…read moreat Emerge was smooth from admission through discharge. Attention to detail for my mothers personal needs was always prioritized from time of therapy to the always offered menu available through guest relations/kitchen. By the time my mother was ready to leave she was walking so much better and was able to heal significantly enough so her pain management needs were considerably less. She still talks about the rehab staff that kept her motivated, engaged and laughing through the tough times as well as the recreation department with their hands on activities and BINGO! We truly believe we would not have had as great an outcome if she did not come to Emerge for surgical aftercare. The relief of having the aides available to assist took the stress mentally and physically off both my mom and myself so that we knew she was in a safe place to recover. Sheri from Social work referred my mom to home care services that was able to provide physical and occupation therapy in the home as well as an aide that was able to help her adjust to her home environment and not be overwhelmed while trying to return to her previous level of function. She now walks independently (with a cane for long distances, rolling walker for really long distances). She can drive, cook, clean, do laundry and spend time with her grandkids once again! But most of all she is thrilled to be pain free and stronger than ever thanks to her amazing surgical team followed by her amazing supportive and strengthening experience at Emerge. She would come back again for any future needs, and she tells all her friends that this is the place to go!
