Had a great experience at my visit today. I called ahead to ask if I could bring my dog in and they saw her right away. We had to wait a bit in between getting some tests done and receiving results (which is to be expected), but the doctor was very thorough and addressed all of my concerns. We called ahead after our dog got into a fight (and lost) to assure they could take us. Dripping blood, we brought him in, they looked at him and scheduled him for surgery when the next shift arrived in an hour after assessing his condition( a reasonable request since there were 3 other dogs a head of him ). We paid the deposit and left our darling sedated and resting. Surgeon called afterwards to give us an update and to adjust the bill, And an we brought him home that night with the prescriptions, instructions and looking like Frankenstein's pooch. A good experience with the vet despite a bad dog experience. Liked that it was one stop and could get all the meds one etc we needed before leaving! This facility is very thorough, but, they really need more staff. I've been waiting for six hours, and I don't know when I'm gonna get out of here. My pups issue isn't the worst but other animals continue to come in with life-threatening problems and they don't have enough staff. The doctor I saw, didn't speak with the nurse to know that my dog had not received liquids for hydration. I had to remind her multiple times to hydrate my dog (even though she recommended hydration). Plus- the Front Desk is not good at customer service. In the past, I had better experiences with them, but today this is terrible . read more

My dog had HGE and it was the scariest week of my life. She is only about 9lbs and 4 years old and she was knocking on death's door. We frantically took her to RVRC emergency room and they were very caring. She was put into the "ICU" and kept for 5 days. Pros: They were very nice about updating us constantly They called at all hours to keep my anxieties in check They also let us visit constantly- and even gave us a private room once she had energy to move around They also communicated what they were doing and how much it would cost. Cons: It is VERY expensive. I'm talking 10-15k expensive. If you can't afford it, they have payment plans, BUT if you can't afford that they won't do the procedure, which could be what saves your animal. I was met by a tech who seemed kind, but then encountered the very callous Dr. Nelson who initially would not even see my dog and instead insisted that the ER was full for boarding. I explained my dog was just seen in the this same ER earlier today but has become more ill AND has been an oncology patient of this clinic since March which the tech verified in the computer. It was not until I demanded that my dog be seen, that she half-ass performed an exam (which I do not believe she actually performed) and insisted she should be euthanized. In a panic and not knowing what else to do with no other options provided or explained by Dr. Nelson, I decided to end my dog's suffering. Dr. Nelson is cold, lacks empathy and should be barred from practicing vetinary care or medicine. I will NEVER bring another animal to this ER department. read more

In every single of our cases the Springfield Regional Veterinary Referral Center was PHENOMENAL and literally saved lives of our fur family members! In all three cases other general practitioner vets suggested euthanasia as a "solution" to our kitties illnesses.... In each case, in desperation, we took them to Springfield Vet Referral Center and vets there not only found the cure for each of our pets but after our cats treatment and surgeries there all three of our kitties enjoyed many, many years of happy life. Veterinarians in the Center are extremely competent, compassionate and the practice is honest and honorable. Highly recommend this practice. The waiting might be long if you need Emergency Care but this is just a nature of Emergency hospitals. read more

Would highly recommend! Went to Regional Veterinary for a second opinion after my senior Yorkie fell down stairs and fractured her tibia. I saw Dr Anderson, emailed her my dog's prior records and asked for an honest assessment on her condition. First-- the receptionist Teri is absolutely amazing and a true gem! It's scary when you're worried about your pet, but she was so kind and energetic when I called, listened to all (I had a lot over my fur baby) of my questions and concerns about a consult and treatment, and was up front about consultation visit costs and Dr Anderson's expertise. Second- Dr Anderson was about her business, she was on time for my consultation, reviewed my dog's records before I arrived and was knowledgeable about her case at the very beginning of our meeting. She was kind, honest and patient with me, explaining my dog's anatomy/bone structure and also adding additional information regarding the prior ortho/surgeon's recommended treatment. I was told she specializes in custom size casts for dogs and it's true. She fit my fur baby in a better sized cast for her tiny leg and one of her fractures healed completely through casting. We elected to do surgery for the second fracture and her entire team was professional and kind. They knew my dog by name and it made me feel like my girl was in good, caring hands both during her bandage/cast change visits and before/during/after surgery. I was extremely pleased with the care Dr Anderson and her staff gave my dog and would highly recommend their team to anyone in need of orthopedics/surgery for their fur baby. They removed a LOT of stress from what was a very stressful situation and their up front estimates helped me better plan for my dog's care because there were no hidden or surprise costs that I incurred during ANY of my visits there. This seems rare when visiting some vets these days. I live in DC and traveling to Springfield was certainly worth the drive in my opinion. Dr Alvarez and several techs and front office staff are amazing- kind and helpful. Dr Alvarez is a very smart and compassionate practitioner. She pulled several hard cases through for our rescue group. With COMPASSION. WARNING - if Dr Nelson or the tech Mika are working, go elsewhere. I've never seen such callous approach to a TRAUMA CASE! This very sweet young cat was likely hit by a car and paralyzed- out in the bitter cold for days. They refused to let me provide her comfort or even TOUCH HER. Dr Nelson recommended euthanasia without even giving her an exam. I asked Dr Nelson to actually examine her with me so we can understand her injuries- they had put her in an oxygen tank with no pain meds given, and did not even examine her until I insisted I need this to make a decision. They then said I could go elsewhere if I didn't like their approach. The vet actually stated coldly to me "she's a stray"- like that means she does not deserve vet care!! The tech pulled the cat away from me several times when I wanted to calm and comfort her. This was horrible and very painful experience only salvaged by the proactive hospital manager who was really kind and recognized taking a trauma case to another vet would only delay this poor kitty's care. She secured us another medical team (Dr Alvarez) who were methodical, examined the kitty with kindness and helped me make the decision to end her suffering after we let her eat and enjoy some yummy food. When I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kilran, she prevented me from doing so. He had a couple of very serious conditions and Dr. Hemberg explained everything thoroughly and compassionately. When we arrived they said it was a 4-6 hour wait just to see the vet as they only had one staffed. Springfield, VA - When you have two aged Golden Retrievers, you are going to spend a certain amount of time at the emergency vet unfortunately. We have a regular vet but they often aren't available on an emergency basis. Seems like the NOVA market has room for more vets for sure. This last time we brought our Mom dog in. Unfortunately she couldn't walk. The techs here brought out a gurney straight away. One climbed in the car while the other 3 gently hefted our girl onto the gurney and strapped her in. At the same time they checked some basic vital signs. I was impressed - they were STRONG! They brought her straight back while we completed the paperwork. In less than an hour we saw the vet to discuss the plan. The vet was direct and forthright which we appreciated. While we waited we noted the cheerful artwork and the coffee and tea station which had many options. And there was water as well. Look, taking your furry family member to the emergency vet isn't fun nor is it inexpensive but the staff here do their best to make things pleasant. Brought my dog in an she was very sick. Had to put her down. Her heart and lungs were basically in ruins. Everything was great except the fact they made me wait over an hour to put her down. I waited in the room by myself in panic. The doctor said she was sleeping but I don't know what to believe. I just can't believe they couldn't take 10 minutes out to put her down. I asked several times what was going on. Didn't seem to be super busy. I understand if there is a dog in desperate need of saving by all means help them. I came in for an emergency with my dog Luna, i was greeted by a friendly front desk staff. However, my issue was when the technician Erica, came out for an initial assessment on my dog, i instantly noticed an attitude from her, but despite that, i provided her with all the information i had about my dog, yet she asked me to get more information about the incident with my dog and walked away. When she came back, after 20 minutes, i provided her with the extra informatio she needed, just for her to hand me a paper and tell me she couldn't take in my dog to treat her as she had other patients to treat. And my issue was that, she could've told me that the FIRST time she assessed my dog but no, instead she asked for more information, for no reason because obviously she knew the other patients she already had. Open THE DOOR! Aren't you an EMERGENCY VET??? Tech had NO idea how to pick a large dog up. Watched her go from under and flip her up. My eyes about fell out. My dog was scared. Scooped up and away. Left me sitting there. She got sicker there and when I printed out what they did...bunch of not much. IV, fluid, some tests . Oh and antibiotics. My dog was very ill. The Dr. there helped me let her go in peace. She was there not even 2 days. I came to visit but they came out with some dumb story about doing some exam right in front of her pen. Waited 15 minutes at least Go back and my dog is all wet on her behind and belly. Whole area smells like poo. Guess they let her sit in it til they heard I was there and did quick clean up. Cost was out of control. Completely out. Of. Hand. Still waiting on a test result. STILL. Asked twice why the delay and still waiting. Not even a call or note . I lost my friend / dog. They. Don't. Care. Front desk girl...nah No smile, zero compassion. Nothing. Went back saying wanted to talk to someone about this. Sorry...we are too busy. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. Just want money. Too many other places actually care. Mistake taking my friend there. They were clueless. They took really good care of my fur baby. He was given to me a year and a half ago by someone who couldn't keep him because his original owner abandoned him with this person by asking him to keep the dog for a few days and never cage back. I never wanted a pet and didn't like dogs. I was on Facebook jokingly said I'll take him and they literally dropped him off to me . I would give 5 negative stars if I could. I've had 2 horrible experiences with this place. The latest was Monday 6 Jan 2025 when I called to ask what I could do for my dog because he was vomiting. My regular vet was closed because of the snowstorm, I could not get out of my neighborhood because there was 9" of snow on the ground and not 1 plow came through. The receptionist told me they could not give medical advice over the phone. Then he proceeded to tell me that they were "on pause" because there was only 1 doctor there. The same thing happened to me the first time I called them a few years ago. I thought the whole point of an emergency vet is to help with emergencies. I will never give this place the time of day again. I can't imagine a human hospital telling people they can't take anymore patients. Maybe this is normal down here. I'm from further north and have always been able to just show up to the animal ER for whatever reason and if they had to call someone in to do surgery or some other kind of emergency in the middle of the night they did it. read more

Although it was a sad emergency situation with my sick old grampa kitty, they took me in right away around 10pm, made it easy to intake, and were very empathetic and professional. After X-rays proved it wasn't a good prognosis, Dr Campbell was patient, caring, and clearly and calmly walked me through the options. We had to euthanize him, but gave me as much time as needed with him before, during and after, allows time for grieving or questions. All in, while I wasn't anticipating that outcome, they helped guide Mr Jack over the rainbow bridge with compassion. And the price for everything was reasonable. read more

Do NOT bring your pets here under any circumstances. I've had the unfortunate experience to come here a few times in the past few years as it's the closest animal hospital but I am never coming back. The staff is rude, condescending, and incompetent. They look down on clients and flat out say that it's the clients fault an animal is sick or injured. They also lie and claim the client misheard information. A few days ago I had to bring one of dogs in and while the vet was able to keep me up to speed on Gunner, the front-end staff were abysmal. I was told Gunner would be ready for discharge so I could come back. I get there, call to let the staff know I've arrived (COVID19 procedure), and for the next three hours I was left in limbo. They collected payment and then radio silence. They were only polite when I gave them the credit card information! I called every 20-30 minutes after that to see where Gunner was and what was happening, and they kept saying that he was being discharged or that he had been discharged. You do not tell a person that their animal is fatally ill and then treat them with such disdain! Finally, after waiting 3 hours, I went inside to see what was happening, and when I said she had told us that Gunner had been discharged and I needed to know if my dog was alive, she became irate and said she never told us that Gunner was discharged. I called her out on her lie and within 10 minutes, they called me to complete the discharge procedures. The next afternoon when I called to find out when the report would be sent to my vet, the woman at the front office LIED again and said she sent it already but would do it again. When I was transferred to the vet who helped Gunner, she mentioned that she hadn't finished the report and was almost done. Amazing how the front office staff can get away with this! On another note, they kept making negative comments hat my primary vet was "mobile" - they flat-out said he wouldn't be able to care for my dog under any circumstances. False! Dr. Cryan and the Nova Mobile Vet team is incredible, they also have a brick and mortar establishment, and they put the needs to the animals as their number one priority. RVRC thinks that they look better by speaking poorly of another vet, but that just shows how low they operate. As I mentioned, this time the vet (Dr. Gelti) was very informative and helpful. However, a few years ago, my two dogs had gotten into a few fights and I had to bring Tracker in. The vet on call each time, Dr. Holly Powers (I'll never forget the name and face) had horrible bedside manners, blamed me for the dogs fighting, refused to see Tracker (I'm well aware that Tracker has fear aggression, but I had a muzzle on her), and she stood by the door and asked me to perform the examination on my own dog. When I asked for another vet, Tracker did amazing with them. In never returned to RVRC until the other day because the experience I had in 2016 was too horrible. Avoid this animal hospital at all costs if you love your pet. Even if it's an emergency, drive an extra 15 minutes to any other animal emergency center. RVRC appear to choose staff based on quantity and NOT quality. The majority of their staff could care less that you're living family member is sick or injured. Update 1 - In Response to RVRC's comment to me: Hi, You see my name is Charlotte, yet you refer to me as "Noelle" - astounding. This is indicative for your business's incompetency and lack of attention to detail. Update 2 - they have yet to send my vet the report. I've called my twice and they say they have sent it but will send it again. Unbelievable. read more

I adopted my cat at 7 yrs old. She was given up multiple times because she hid and bit. We have a relationship that surpasses all previous encounters and she trusts me and Dr. Patricia Carcamo at Burke Veterinary Clinic. I had come back from my own ear infection diagnosis when she was wimpering and dragging her back foot. All vets were full so I took her to his ER. she was howling and throwing up in the exam room. Next time I'm doing live feed from the exam room and posting on Social Media. We waited for hours. She would take no water and panick breathing for hours. When she was seen, it took then an hour for an estimate for treatment and another two hours for treatment. NO food was offered no pain shots were provided during this time when I asked. at 8pm, 7 hours later, I said we were leaving. They offered to keep her. I said no I am leaving with my cat. Then they said they were almost done with tests and just refilling her meds. I prayed for patience and waited 30 more minutes. There was no time on the papers as to when the pain shot was given and I was supposed to give another pain shot "tonight" to a cat who hadn't eaten or water since the morning. It was now 845pm. No time on discharge papers when 10ML of Methadone was given. They want her back this morning and I can pretreat her with pain meds. I have consulted with other cat lovers who believe and I believe she hasn't eaten out of anxiety. She finally drank water after church calling all to pray and she ate a lick after Divine Mercy prayers at 3pm. Not much but she has been drinking and peed 2x. She pooped a drop this morning when we did morning yoga. She is not going back for more treatment. When I called them yesterday about her not eating or drinking they said to come back in. NO. They never fed her. Just because they can get my cat to purr occasionally does not mean she isn't in crisis. She is still in a bad way but she will not take anything orally without throwing up and foaming at the mouth. Insisting on back to back pain medication when they threw up everything in the exam room over an 8 hour period is cruelity to animals. I had to call for each thing to be provided to me: the discharge, the tests - they just wanted to keep her overnight. They wanted to make me wait so I would agree for a nervous anxious cat to be kept overnight. That won't heal her. read more

The staff here are all exceptionally caring and kind. We have a dog that is quite people aggressive with strangers and they were nothing but understanding and helpful with our dog. They made sure she wasn't put through any unnecessary stress. We were seen within a reasonable amount of time (a few hours) and the prices aren't extortionate. They also have a military discount which definitely helped. I would like to say a big thank you to our tech Jessica who truly went above and beyond for the care of our dog. We will definitely come back anytime we need urgent or emergency vet care. read more

After our 7 month old kitten got into chocolate I took him to Woodbridge VCA only to find out they've stopped being an emergency hospital 2 weeks before. The kind woman on the phone directed me to the next closest emergency vet. This being Friday night on a holiday weekend, traveling 95N to Springfield took quit a bit of time. When I arrived at this emergency vet, I explained the issue with my kitten and was told that before they would even see him, I must first call the ASPCA Poison Control, pay them $75 for a full report of the possible toxins, get a case number, and call them back with the information. What?? Wait?? Aren't they the medical professionals? I asked the snippy girl on the phone why I must make this call and she actually said because we don't know if chocolate is poisonous for your animal. Um, if that is true, then you're all in the wrong business! In addition to this, she also informed me that even if they do end up treating my kitten, their hospital is full and it would only be out patient treatment. At this point it had been nearly 3 hours since we realized our kitten had gotten into the chocolate. On a long shot, I called my regular vets office and was able to get in touch with her through the answering service. Thank God my animal wasn't actually bleeding out or crashing. They'd probably want me to prove it before anyone would've helped him. DON'T GO HERE! read more

This place was horrible. Terry at the front desk and Dr. Juan Sardinas were rough. The bedside manner was all about the cost and the down payment. Questions were brushed off & not very eager to give explanations . It was tooth & nail. Lots of arrogance & insensitivity & rush. Even the assistant that the Dr. called in was rough with my puppy.
