We couldn't find much about Fleetwood Antique Mall during our initial web searches, but wanted to give it a chance. It's easily accessible off of U.S. Route 222. Parking is an informal affair with no marked lines; we ended up parking near one of the back buildings. Even before entering Fleetwood Antique Mall, you can tell this place is different with several old vehicles on display out front. Random statues also are on display everywhere outside. Fleetwood Antique Mall is three floors with several rooms on each floor, and several outlying buildings. First floor of the main building is handicap accessible, but others do not appear to be. The Antique Mall has a solid variety of unique items, is clean, with little junk. First floor has a large amount of antique and retro furniture. Statues that look like they came from restaurants or bars are everywhere and stand out. This place is so loaded with items; you have to look up as they are even hanging from the rafters. Second floor is similar to the first; we found unique video game systems in one booth. The third floor has a low ceiling and as we are tall it was a challenge to explorer, but it mostly contained furniture. Outlying buildings contain items including but not limited to office furniture and mattresses. One building contains the $1 budget section, and in the basement were old trunks and hubcaps. This store does something that many other Antique stores don't: they have tape measures, pens, and paper on every floor, a simple but smart idea. The front desk employee was helpful and asked how we found them. She also provided us with information about their sister location, The Shoppes at Kirbyville, located just down the road. Overall, we were surprised by the lack of reviews as this place was great. Fleetwood Antique Mall is totally with a stop when in the area.

Since I've downsized, I've become a passive shopper but that doesn't stop me from looking and buying. Last time here I focused on Adamstown Antique Mall. Today, Adams Antique Annex. What impressed me is the sheer size of this store and the number of booths brimming with merchandise. The store offers 10% off any item exceeding $10; a good number of vendors looking to clear stock offer additional discounts. Ah .... bargains! I have a set of green-stemmed wine glasses that my husband brought back from Germany. They fit nicely in the dishwasher, but over the years several broke. While not looking to replenish -- I have other glasses -- when I saw these at $35 plus 35% off, I thought 'why not?' We live in a hundred year old building; I'd been eyeing old advertising thermometers for my tiny porch. Apparently, they've become a 'thing' but not willing to spend hundreds of dollars as many are priced, I wasn't optimistic. T spotted one from Yeager Supply, still in business in Reading, PA. While not campy, and not as old as I'd like -- this dates to the late 1960's -- at $18 (plus the store's 10% discount) it was a no-brainer. Jewelry, pottery, furniture, you name it. With pleasant staff and so much to look at -- plus, the mall is air conditioned! -- add Adams Antique Annex to your list.

Though I no longer actively collect -- I've downsized since selling my house -- I still look at items that interest me and rarely pass up a deal. Mad Hatter has beautiful pottery. (I've collected Hull and Roseville for 35+ years.) Several booths specialize in kitschy mid-century items which I find fun. I debated about purchasing the snack bowls I photographed, which my mom had in the 1950s. (Decided against it. Nostalgia didn't win out this time.) You can breeze through the mall or spend hours looking. Parking is easy, the staff is helpful and as said, if you're looking to build a collection, Mad Hatter is worth a visit.

While thrifting in the area the furniture outside caught my eye. Although this store wasn't on my thrifting radar, once inside I had a case of Deja vu and believe I might have been here in the late 90's. Not really a thrift store, it's a bit strange in the merchandise they carry, as well as layout. There's room set ups consisting of used and antique furniture pieces, many priced much higher than they should. Off to the side is "buyout" type merchandise (think Ollie's) - which was reasonably priced. In the back were older items, well past their prime that perhaps were from a yard sale or picked from someone's curb on trash day. Further in the back is new, modern (although some a bit tacky) furniture that's cash and carry and/or rent to own. Even with the displays the space feels like a warehouse filled with stuff. Somethings were admittingly unusual (throne chair, suit of armor), but most were mundane or dated items you could get anywhere for less. There's a distant smell throughout like musk and mildew. The cashier/front desk had a pawn shop feel and I wouldn't be surprised if that's how some of the items were obtained. There seemed to be some "regulars" hanging out just for something to do that didn't appear to be making purchases. There's no one on the sales floor to assist you. So while I love thrifting and hunting for unusual pieces, this store didn't cut it for me. It's suffering from an identify crisis for one, and has too many things going on to really know for sure what it is - antique store, yard sale, salvage, etc. Prices were unreasonable for the majority of the items for sale, customer service non existent, and I wouldn't pay them another visit.
