Once I walked around the store for a little bit with friends I passed by the register and the woman at the front profiled me and asked me to give her the cd to put behind the counter until I checked out. I don't know if it was becuase i'm a bit on the alternative side or because I smelled a bit like my medical marijuana but she implied that I was going to steal this cd. Later when I went back to purchase said cd she tried to hand me a vinyl record priced at 25$ and told me that this man I don't know and I agreed on this price. Mind you for an item I didn't pick up I don't know if she has some sort of memory retention problem but how could you mix that up. I then said "No I had the cd you took out out my hand earlier" as she replied as though I came off a bit too aggressive she then turned to my white friends for validation in my behavior. They just turned away because what is she on. I was simply just reminded her of our previous interaction. Onto selection I was extremely off put by the amount of racist slavery memorabilia that was for sale in this store. I don't think that in the time we live in that items that offensive a racist and outdated should be for sale in stores. Not to mention it was right in the front by register so I feel as though that was a choice made by the business. The Value of the item were extremely expensive most things were price well over 50$. Some of the racist items i mentioned earlier like figurines,toys, and picture frames some were priced at over 200$ which is outrageous. The first level has a lot of collectible items; I specifically remember seeing a selection of brass buckets and vintage political pins. The upstairs section is a labyrinthine attic space. You climb up and down these homespun staircases, and there are items on display in all the corners and crawlspaces. They had a wide selection of styles, even though the store isn't huge. I was specifically looking for mid-century pieces, and I bought a brass three-headed floor lamp for $30, a steel and upholstery desk chair for $40, and a teak American of Martinsville server for $130. Many of the items I saw had condition issues, but there were pristine pieces if you looked carefully. I had trouble getting the server in my car, and the shop's handyman kindly helped me tie up my trunk.

It is a for profit store. The help is paid. No appliances, lamps and electric items are not tested. They offer an outlet, but if it doesn't work at home there is no exchange, no credit, just a point at the sign "All sales final." I am sorry, every business should have a customer service. Renninger's is part farm market, antique market, and flea market that's only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Parking is located on all sides of the building with entrances everywhere. One thing that overall impressed me was the lack of empty booths, with all but a handful occupied by at least something. The farm market portion had various vendors with prepared foods, barked goods, and a few fruit/vegetable vendors. The antique portion had a wide variety of vendors; the setup is almost all booth style. Saw items including military collectables, glassware, media, coins, racing merchandise, and comic books. This portion had a little bit of everything. The flea market vendors are out back under pavilions but were already packing up by early afternoon. If you are a local, a trip to Renninger's could be worth a stop once a month. Would I travel a longer distance to come here? Probably not.
