. Had some amazing "Level 2" cuts here, with sharp lines and amazing fades. About a week ago, went in and paid the premium price for a "Level 3", their highest level. This guy was goofin' and laughin' with the other barber and customer, but it was fun and I figured he was a master. No. I asked for a buzz cut and a 1-inch beard. He gave me a buzz cut that had I gotten it at Great Clips I'd have gone "well, at least it was only $10." He also cut my beard way too short, uneven - sharp on some parts and smooth corners on others. , ' to look at my face in the mirror. When I reached out, they told me I could come in for a touch-up. But my hair's already very short, I don't want to lose more. They did not offer a refund nor a credit - I guess I'd need to come in in several months and try to convince them I deserve it from last time. Having moved nearby this had been my only barbershop for almost 4 years in May ... but after this experience, I'm done. This shop is a mainstay in the community it has been here since I built my house I think back in 2006 now I might be wrong about that beginning date but I feel like it's been here that long. anyway I'm not a regular because I don't get my haircut in that way. But when I want to look sharp and clean. I will usually drop in and they try their best to squeeze me in. But you really probably should try and schedule an appointment, there that busy here. I wish I was disciplined enough to pick a barber and stick with it but I would probably just piss them off from canceling appointments it's just my lifestyle doesn't allow it. Another update for my review: My regular barber of about three years left. The FourSquare deal has been eliminated. They've changed the online interface to schedule appointments and the new system isn't as easy-to-use as the old one. I've been chased to making appointments by phone. I realize that's a First World Problem, but it was so convenient before! The last few times I've been in with an appointment, I had to wait about 10 minutes after my scheduled time to be seated. One trip was well beyond 10 minutes. The cut is still quality, but you pay a little more here than at other barbershops. If you find the right barber here, or go on a specific recommendation, then Renaissance could still be a good move for you. But for me, given some of these changes, I'm sorry to say that I'm looking elsewhere now. read more

It's pretty much your standard barbershop. It is not a 'salon'. In other words, go there if you have the typical guy haircut; don't look for anything fancy. If you don't have an appointment, expect a wait. The barbers have their regular customers and will try to squeeze them in. I stumbled into this place sight unseen. I was quickly greeted and paired with Jeff for my walk-in haircut. Everyone in the establishment gave me a friendly greeting. Since the start of quarantine and the virus known as COVID-19, a lot of what we consider to be normal and fun has been limited. However my experience at The Renaissance Barbershop today was nothing short of amazing. From the very start the professionalism was excellent and the precautions to keep the employees and the customers safe was organized and easy to follow. Not to mention the online scheduling was a very easy process to follow and complete. I then got to meet Corey Bell who was my barber for this afternoon. I could immediately tell that he had the experience as well as a fun personality that would make this haircut memorable. I asked him for a high fade cut and showed him a picture I had found online. He said this was no problem. As I was getting my hair cut in the chair it felt like things had gone back to normal with the fun atmosphere and conversations about music and movies. The rest of the staff was also taking part in the conversations and gave it a great atmosphere which allowed you to feel right at home or even had the essence of talking with old friends. After the cut was complete I was given a mirror to check the final look and I was very impressed with the cut. Corey is definitely your guy to go with when you need a haircut for any occasion he can get the job done and make it a great experience. Please give The Renaissance Barbershop a chance and I can assure that you will be pleased and happy with your experience as I was! They have a bunch of flat screens and a shop full of barbers. My wait was not long and I got a perfect haircut. I'm new to the area, and it's always hard to find a new place to get your haircut. After a bit of searching around, and checking review, I tried Renaissance Barbershop. My haircut was so bad that afterward I drove over to Fantastic Sam's and had them clean it up (you can't make stuff like this up!). I was hopeful at first; the place is clean inside, and my stylist was friendly. But within about 10 minutes it was clear that he really had no idea what he was doing. First, I asked for a trim, and he started in with electric clippers, literally chopping my hair off. Then, when I realized what he'd done, I asked him to blend it in - I ended up with the hair on my left side, the top and the right side all different lengths! They also seat everyone so you're facing away from the mirror, which I find unnerving because you can't see what the stylist is doing to your hair. I honestly would've been better off cutting my hair myself. If you're looking for a buzz cut, this place would be great. I just needed a quick trim and walked out with one of the worst haircuts I've ever had (and I'm not that picky). The Fantastic Sam's at Southpoint is less money, and the lady there fixed my haircut in 10 minutes. read more

I went in last time to get a cut to only be informed 5 minutes beforehand that my appointment was cancelled. I understand that life happens, but I had an interview that day. I asked if one of the other barbers could give me a haircut but they told me no even though there was a 30 minute gap on the schedule online. Waited about an hour for jayson to get to work only for Kevin to tell me that I still couldn't be seen because there was a 10:00 appointment that still wanted to come in, although mine was at 9 and I had waited. Also, they are NOT customer-oriented and they don't respect the appointments they make. I only come here because it is kind of close to where I live. Despite the fact that I had an appointment at 8 o'clock in the morning and I was there in time, I had to wait for almost 20 min after my scheduled time. This place looked great online but was very disappointing. I had a long wait despite the place being relatively empty. The place was pretty untidy and the staff were none too friendly. As far as the haircut, if you're going in for a buzz cut you should be alright. Otherwise, steer clear. My barber was very shear-happy. I had to end up getting hair re-cut somewhere else. I liked the whole appointment system problem is you don't get to meet the barber or talk to the barber to see if they can even perform the haircut.
