The store is small but has a lot of retro game and consoles. I bought a handheld console and the guy charges double the price than what it actually worth and he makes up his own prices in his head for video games and consoles. I would recommend going to a different store. you can find retro consoles and video games cheaper elsewhere. You're rude and you have no respect for others but yourself. All you see is when a customer comes into your small overcrowded store is dollar signs. read more

The store has an incredible selection of retro video games, consoles, and collectibles. Adam, the store owner, has a talent for maintaining older games in great condition. My fiance and I reignited our love for Pokemon games after purchasing some older titles from the store (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, Leaf Green). The cartridges were all prepped with new batteries and have been reliable for the past few weeks with constant play. Adam is very accommodating - on our second visit, he helped us test some Gameboy Advance trading link cables to see if they would work between a Gameboy Advance SP and the Analogue Pocket (conclusion: it works!). Even outside of the excellent merchandise, it is a joy to chat with Adam about video games and culture in general. He is truly knowledgeable, and any visitor will quickly see that this is his passion. I highly recommend that you stop by! read more

I've recently been hunting for games as a hobby and been to multiple if not all local retro game stores in North Jersey. I can confidently say no experience has been like my experience at The Retro Game Cave. The selection of games were incredible. No other location could even compare and Adam and Eric just made it such a great experience. I was able to buy 3 games that I've been searching for and was super happy with the price. What a great experience I had at The Retro Game Retro Cave! First things first, make sure you call first because he may not be there even during business hours which was my mistake (when I didn't read on the website) the first time I went over there. Adam was kind enough to return my call and explain to me he was out picking up more inventory for his store. Very polite and professional. He also convinced me to return the next day which I did. So every time I go on vacation somewhere I find the best retro video game store in the area, visit and at least buy something to take back home. I was visiting from Arizona with my wife and staying in West New York so this wasn't close but well worth the Uber ride considering there were quite a few others on the way but not with nearly as good reviews or great reputation as this store. My wife and I walked in and were greeted by Adam, the owner. Him and I are the same age so it was super easy to relate on the types of games we grew up playing. The inventory is in a room but don't be fooled there is plenty to look at/buy when it comes to games for I think almost any platform as well as accessories, toys, cards and more. I saw some games here I've never seen at some of the other retro stores which was cool. I picked up four games and Adam gave me a really good deal. As promised, this will be a go to spot for me every time I go visit back home (Jersey). I couldn't figure out how to add a picture to this post but the games I picked up for my son's and I collection were Double Dragon III Nintendo, Vectorman Sega Genesis, Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith Xbox and Lego Drome Racers GameCube. read more

Sadly, Adam ending up stealing over 20 of my 10 year old daughter's Wii games. He came by the house and lowballed me for other games I was selling, and the Wii cases were in the box. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't tell me that the games were still in there and when I called Adam within five minutes of him leaving my house to get the games back he didn't answer and then later told me he had already magically sold them. This was a very traumatic and sad event for my daughter. We did up running into Adam and his family at my daughters piano recital two days later and when I approached him about it, he acted like he didn't even know me and then told us "too bad" game are "gone." The fact that he has this store only means to me that he took them so he can resell them. They are older classic games and we still haven't been able to find them all. All this to say, BUYER BEWARE, this guy's not honest at all. read more

Adam is a great guy I called him this morning and let him know what I had to sell and he gave me a quote and within 30 minutes he gave me the option to come in or he could come pick up the stuff and cash me out. Very professional he showed up in a mask and I would most defiantly refer him to my friends or anyone who has vintage video games.
