We have been here 50 times plus and each sermon has been terrific. He has great energy and passion. Every single time I have left this church, I walk to my car thinking to myself how great the service was and how thankful I am to be a Christian (for 31 years). I went to a church for a long time that had a Pastor that beat us down - every single service. He would say he was just preaching the word and his preaching was a hard style. Looking back, that is not what it was. He wanted to shame us and make us feel defeated. I left there every Sunday feeling sad and nearly hopeless. Scott Cagle is the opposite. The staff was very welcoming which I did appreciate. However, my biggest complaint came from my daughter's experience in the 3rd/4th grade room. She said the man in charge was a yeller and often said "shut up," or other mean spirited things to some of the boys. Though not directly yelling and my daughter, she was still uncomfortable. An adult should be able to be reverent and loving for one hour on a Sunday. The service needs to dive deeper into the teachings of Christ and focus less on asking for money on repeat. Donations come from those who feel uplifted and spiritually lead.

WARNING: negative reviews here are being taken down…read more I have been a member of this church for over 12 years. It was once a place where the gospel was alive, the leadership was relatable, and people were encouraged to follow Christ wholeheartedly. Sadly, that is no longer the case. This church now censors negative reviews and even edits sermons to hide their biases. They have shut off comment sections to silence the congregation rather than listen to feedback. I've never seen a church so determined to control its image instead of confronting the truth. What opened my eyes was how they responded to the death of a Christian man who, moments before being killed, proclaimed: "At the end of the day Jesus Christ loved us enough to die on the cross for us. He rose from the grave three days later, and at the end of the day Jesus Christ is King." Instead of honoring his courage and faith, the church leadership ignored him--and claimed it was because he was a different type of Christian. Yet this man shared the gospel more boldly than many of the pastors here and has brought far more people to Christ than they can dream of. I also experienced their misplaced priorities when I had to beg for a 10-year-old girl to be baptized. She was denied repeatedly, ghosted, and made to jump through hoops. Why? Because her testimony wasn't "polished" enough to fit into a video the church wanted to showcase. She was left fearful for her soul, discouraged from following Jesus, and confused about God's love. That should never happen in a true house of worship. This church now feels unstable, leaderless, and more focused on appearances and money than on preaching the gospel. If you are looking for God, I urge you to seek Him where leadership has not compromised, where courage is not absent, and where protecting the innocent and proclaiming Christ still matter. We will continue to pray for this church, that its leaders rediscover humility, courage, and the true heart of Jesus.

I don't normally do a review of churches because I feel like it's not my place to judge how a…read morechurch runs itself. So I decided to do a review based on how someone looking for a new church might view them. Anyway... When I was told about this church, I was skeptical. It's hard to find a good, non-denominational, "come as you are" church where you don't feel like you're being judged on how you look or how you dress. This place was so welcoming and so absolutely loving that even some of my family members who suffer from anxiety felt comfortable. We were told that it was like a big family all worshiping together and it really was -- but surprisingly it didn't feel like you were interrupting a family worship, it was more like you became PART of it. The pastors (Derek and Tammy Sharp) are awesome people. Tammy is the friendliest lady you'll ever meet and Derek [who gave the sermon on Sunday] is energetic and genuine and funny. It's a really young church (I would say that most of those who were in attendance were between 18 and 25) but there were older people to make me feel less self-conscious. :) If I was a young person looking for a church, I would definitely check out The Upper Room. I was a little confused about the music selections and at times I had difficulty following along, but I think that's probably mostly because of my age. I enjoyed the worship music, but didn't quite understand the moshpit-like dancing in the front. It wasn't weird or anything, just different for me. With all that being said, I really, really liked this church and I plan on going back -- perhaps making this THE church I bring my family to. I wish I could give 4.5 stars -- or 4.6. I just feel weird giving someone a perfect score. Update: I am revising my review to 5 stars after attending a few more times and seeing the love and grace they show. Not only did they reach my two sons (18 and 20) and get them interested in church for the first time, but my 18 year old son gave his life to Jesus last night. Absolutely stunning turn of events and I am truly grateful.

There are churches that believe the bible is the same yesterday, today and always. There are those (like this church) that believe the bible "evolves" to accommodate the current social culture.
