The biggest problem was with the Administrator and Nursing Supervisor. Both extremely hard to work with, even in the "honeymoon period." Nurse did not perform an actual physical assessment on the client, yet insisted on a much higher level of care (costs more $$) because "she's 93!" Would not honor doctor's order for handling her own medications. Not only took that control but that cost more $$ too. Beautiful facility but rooms are not all ADA accessible. We were lucky to discover all of this before we made the mistake of moving my family member there! read more

I moved my mom into this facility when she could no longer bathe herself, and due to some stroke issues was having trouble moving and was in need of assistance. At first, it seemed nice. There's a bunch of coordinated things to do and fresh cut flowers on Friday. The biggest issue with this place is staff coordination, and the leadership is not accountable for anything . Most of the residents fear the head nurse at this place and she does not follow through when you ask her to do something. If I came and checked on my mom or any other resident, they're all pretty much suffering on Sunday because no one's there to take care of them. Also, the food is way better at other places unless you like soft mush. If I owned this place, I would fire the head coordinator, the nurse and the main chef, buy some lighting for this dark facility and get someone in there who knows how to care for people and coordinate staff! I know it's in a great location near Holladay and near where a lot of people live but please look elsewhere! read more

I've worked at The Ridge for more than 2 years now. I want to say that this place is the best place I have been in. The people and staff here are the most kind, friendly, and team-oriented people I've ever met. There's a real sense of community, and everyone looks out for one another. Working here has been an incredibly positive and fulfilling experience. I'm proud to be a part of a team that genuinely cares about each other and the people we serve. read more

Do not recommend this place at all. We moved our parents here as my mom had Alzheimer's and my dad was having a hard time taking care of her. It's fine as long as you don't need extra services,but in assisted. Living, many people need extra services. We had horrible experiences again and again. Met with the nurse, the director, the owners from Colorado, they'll promise you the world but nothing ever changed. My mom passed away there. We moved my dad, his new place DURING COVID is night and day difference. So much better. They're so much more attentive and it doesn't take 1-2hours fir a CNA to get to him after he pushes his button. Definately check out other places and talk to families of the elderly living there. I'd say this was close to elderly abuse. read more

The Ridge is a beautiful facility with all of the amenities anyone could want. It has a beautiful dining room with great food, a movie theater, a hair salon, regular daily activities, LDS church services on site and mom loved the weekly bus ride. As beautiful as the physical surroundings are and as much as we appreciate the many comforts, we most appreciate the people. The staff at The Ridge Cottonwood are excellent. The members of the administrative and healthcare teams are friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate, and responsive to our concerns. They were very patient with me and my many questions The CNAs, med techs and other staff members are kind, well-trained, and attentive to the needs of all of the residents. Some of them were exceptional and really went the extra mile. As a family we were grateful to have the team at The Ridge assisting us as we navigated this challenging time. By the time my mom passed, me and my family had learned a lot about dementia. It was a tremendous relief to know that mom was living in an excellent facility where she could feel safe, comfortable, and know that help, if needed, is a button push away. Last thought, one of the best things we ever did was utilize Canyons Home Health when hospice became necessary. Their hospice team is AMAZING! We highly recommend The Ridge at Cottonwood. This facility is beautiful. Unfortunately, the care over the past 2 years with both my mom and dad has been horrible. There are some amazing staff members. Several of the best have left because they were so unhappy. The Director and Head nurse are horrible to work with. So many times before COVID residents would be walking halls looking for help because no one was responding to their button they had pushed. One occasion I put a cute guy needing help in the elevator with me. I took him down to the first floor where 3 CNA's were sitting on the floor on their phones. I asked if any of them had time to help him. He had been pushing his button. This is just one of several incidences where I have felt like I need to advocate for these residents. Even while moving out my dad last week his cute sweet neighbor came over with her cane limping 3x asking me to help her. No one had responded. I observed and watched push her button 3 different times. This was over an hours time as I watched no one respond to her. She hurt her hip and was needing something for pain. I saw someone in the hall and asked them to please help her. I witnessed these situations all the time before COVID. I was usually there 5x a week with my dad. With COVID and no family being allowed in it is scary how the responses are being neglected. There is no accountability! They will tell you there is but no there is not! I wish we would of moved my dad out a long time ago. The care we have gotten in a week at his new place has been over and beyond our expectations. Several things they have called me about that the Ridge never was aware of over 2 years. The new place has already noticed he can't cut his food and is struggling feeding himself. The Ridge just stacked uneaten meals in his fridge. I guess they thought one day he would be able to walk and heat them up and cut them. Instead of me calling asking for care the new place is calling me asking if they can do extra things they think he needs! WOW! My dad tells me everyday how nice everyone is to him at his new place. He said he cannot believe the difference!!! He is so much happier already! This is what I was hoping for 2 years ago as we moved our parents into the Ridge. The employees are not happy which snowballs into the residents care. Several employees have expressed their unhappiness to me! It's sad! I feel bad for the employees and residents who are not being treated well at all. The feel of his new place is night and day different! So happy we chose Legacy Sugarhouse for his new home! I would not recommend the care at the Ridge to anyone! It's been 2 years of anxiety, stress and disappointments! They need new leadership!!! Starts from the top! As I moved my dad out last week the Ridge felt dark and dead! These poor residents are already so depressed! Liven the place up a bit! Going into his new place felt the exact opposite! Even with COVID it was bright and people were out happy and the place feels alive! The feeling alone speaks for itself! Do not put your loved ones at the Ridge! read more

My parents have been here for almost 2 years. Never a regret. From the front desk to the activities staff (especially!!!) they care about my folks and their physical and emotional well being. They give a damn when folks are having a bad day and always step up to help out. I really feel like they treat my folks like family. (Before you ask, I was over there 6-8 times a week before COVID so I actually see them and their behavior all the time). They try really hard within current restrictions and deliver better than could be expected. read more

Although this is a beautiful place to live I was very disappointed with the care my grandfather recieved. he was in the memory care unit. the director was a very rude woman and not compassionate. One afternoon I stopped by for a visit. I found my grandpa in bed covered in feces and urine. I asked the nurse how long it had been since he had been checked on and she admitted they had not checked on him all day. they are under staffed and the staff they do have are not competent for residents with memory problems. They were not apologetic about the treatment my grandpa recieved and for the price we paid we should have known he was in capable hands. He was not. We moved him immediatly after and found a great fit for him. I was so disappointed in cottonwood place. I would never trust them with someone I love. read more
