It's no wonder she graduated at the top of her class from Paul Smiths College. Especially noteworthy are the lemon pound cake, fruit tartlets, and cinnamon buns. She is also an insanely talented cake decorator and pulls out all the stops to make sure her customers are happy. I had an option of fries, salad, or potato salad, and went for the salad, which was a pile of lovely fresh greens with a creamy balsamic on top. Another of us had the chicken leek casserole which was huge and tasty. With some tricky to find imports on tap like Newcastle brown and Old Speckled Hen, we really felt like we'd stumbled into a nice example of a UK pub in Brockville. They have a bunch of premium and imported options for beer on tap plus a reasonable wine list. Worth a stop!

Late last year we were in town and stopped in the bakery and asked if they'd be willing to do something a little different than the typical wedding cake. We wanted mini-tiramisus for our guests and a big tiramisu for us. Rene was delighted by the request and welcomed the break from all the wedding cakes. She delivered the tiramisus and set-up a beautiful display of them on wood stumps and she brought in some gold heart decor and greenery. We misplaced our cake topper and messaged her the day ofand she improvised by using a heart stencil with the cocoa powder that came out so nice. Our guests were already raving about how amazing the dessert display was and they raved even more after they ate the dessert. Some people were like I don't normally like tiramisu but I love this. and it was SO good. We brought our whole tiramisu (and maybe a few minis as well) back to our hotel and ate it all throughout our wedding weekend. Rene was a pleasure to work with. We had several calls and emails with her. And she listened and really captured what we wanted.
