I had to go here for several books while I was in University and the store had gone through some changes. Not only did it turn out to be a good pace to buy books, but you could visit the cafe to fuel up and get ready for studying. A friend of mine also worked at Agora through school and found it a really good place to work. They try to employ mostly students. The Long Version: I have been to this coffee shop many times. It's one of my usual meeting spots when catching up with friends who also live in the area for coffee because it's open until 7pm so it's perfect for dropping by after work and before heading home for dinner. I always prefer the smaller independent cafes but all of them close pretty early like they're open until 5pm the latest. So admittedly, this place is chosen because of its location and hours, lol. I find the drinks themselves fine, no complaints but no raves either from me. I've had their matcha drinks and they've always been ok. At least they've never had that unfortunate fishy aroma due to improper storage (I've had that at the Starbucks at Richmond and Roosevelt more than once. Yeah I know, first time shame on them, but more than once, shame on me). Their prices are consistent with chains such as Starbucks. I have always found service courteous here. Traditional Turkish style lanterns hang from the ceiling, the music that plays over the sound system is chosen by guests, there's a laptop playing music on YouTube available for you. The shisha quality is consistent and very good. You'll notice the pipes are Khalil Mamoon and the tubes are sturdy Starbuzz pipes. I think the tobacco they use is Al-Fakher. There's no food but if you can believe it they don't mind if you have pizza delivered there or bring something in to eat. In terms of drinks they have a selection of those Arabic malt drinks called Barbican, an espresso machine and of course Moroccan mint tea. Overall, if you're looking for a place where your squad will feel welcome and comfortable to chill, Cafe Ali-Baba is for you.
