In fact, here are three reasons why the Jolly Woodman is a must-stop on your visit to the UK... 1. The staff Most nights our waiter was Oli. He is probably the sweetest kid we've ever met. Very easy to talk too, great recommendations and super accommodating to anything we asked for. On the nights he wasn't working, we genuinely missed him. On the second night we visited, we met the manager, Matt, and he's a truly genuine guy. Matt is the kind of guy who would literally give you the shirt off of his back. You can tell he really loves the restaurant with the stories he tells about the history of it (ask him about the tunnel if you visit!). He gave us a ton of recommendations of places to visit while we were in the UK and they were all spot on. His knowledge of the food and beer is extensive. We looked forward to catching up with him each night that we went in. We also met the head chef, Stuart, on our second night and he's one of a kind. He's also a Michelin star chef, but NBD. This man is passionate about his food, so much so that he brought out samples of what he was working on for us to try and it was all AMAZING. It was a one of a kind experience that you simply wouldn't get here in the states. If you have the chance to visit he Jolly Woodman and try his food - do it. You will not regret it. 2. The atmosphere Look at my pictures. Could this place be any cuter? It's a truly unique location with more history than you can imagine. 3. The food Alright, let's get down to brass tacks. The woodman has HANDS DOWN the best fish and chips I've ever had. The serving is huge, so I recommend fasting before you get there (really). Trust me, it will be worth it. I cannot do it justice writing about it - just go and try it. I also had a cheeseburger and the cheesecake for dessert and they were both spectacular. You cannot go wrong here. They also have a phenomenal beer selection. My recommendation: Sit at the bar, have a chat and a drink with the locals, you won't regret it.

On the dot our waiter, introduced himself to us and shows us to our table. The menu reads well, offering a good choice without overpowering you or using foodie 'jargon'. For starters, we had Shetland Island Mussels "Marinière" and had Roasted Rump of Lamb & Rib Eye for our main course which, was done as per our request medium rare. Let me start by saying the food was 'OK', nothing to shout about but nice. The small portion size was a a bit of a problem. I was left still hungry after their Roast Rump of Lamb, there were no side dishes. The location of the Wharf is really nice. Just by Teddington Loch so you can watch the boats on the Thames. The dining area is floor to celling glass so everyone gets a good view. The service was absolutely abominable. For want of a better word the waiters were 'snooty' and very unobliging. We were a party of five. Myself and three others arrived first. We were asked weather we wanted to sit at the bar or go straight to the table, so we opted to go to the table. The Waiter then proceeded to put the menu's on the table, walk away and never come back. No offer of drinks while we wait, it took me to get up and get a waiter to be served some drinks. When the rest of our party arrived, exactly the same thing happened. After we finally had our drinks we started browsing the menu. The Waiter then appeared again to tell us the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes so we needed to order now! I enquired later as to why you would take a booking for 5 at a time when the kitchen was about to close and the received the response of "most of our patrons order quickly"....... The final nail in the coffin for the evening was the fact that we were offered no choice of desert and then were rudely ushered off the table so they could clear away. We headed down to the bar and an hour later I noticed the same table was still unoccupied. So avoid the Wharf like the plague. The location at Teddington lock is lovely but you will be treated like you're a nuisance, not a paying customer. I hope this review has help steer you off the idea of having dinner at the Wharf.

Leroy is tucked away in the Shoreditch area a couple blocks next to a bus stop. Dining is available indoors exclusively with tables or the kitchen counter. Oddly enough, the dining room was merely 50% full on a Saturday evening... It was even more odd that a handful of staff and customers were visibly sick...as in coughing... Staff were super helpful in providing suggestions and checking up throughout the evening. The restaurant appears to be run by Gen Z. Started off the meal with the devil's eggs which were on the saltier side. I didn't quite get this dish. Moved on to the mussels small plates and it was tasty, although also on the saltier side. The potato bread was decent. The highlight of the meal was the pork collar which was cooked to perfection and the meat was super tender and flavorful. The sauce was on the saltier side... The white asparagus along with the crispy sage were both tasty. Finished off the meal with a chocolate puff pastry and it was decent. Just coming in from Paris, desserts are always a treat. This one was good, just not Paris good. £83 for dinner, including VAT and optional 13.5% service charge.

It may have been because the restaurant was full and hectic or because the table adjacent were friends with the chef and all the attention went there, but our two servers and the chef occasionally bringing out the food just dropped off the plate without really greeting us or presenting the dish, as if they were rushed to get us our food and wanted us to leave. Their attitude didn't really bother us as we quickly ate and left. Yes, the menu is small. Yes, the dishes were small to medium sized. No, I didn't think they were overpriced. For the quality of food you get, I thought the price was reasonable. We had the beef tartare, quail, mackerel, duck, and bread. Bread came out cold which was off-putting but the rest of the food was delicious.

Absolutely brilliant place for families, without feeling you're in a family establishment (read:…read moretwee, generic, bland). The menu offers a great selection, but I have to say, if you get anything other than the carvery on a Sunday (and now Tuesday nights!), you're obviously mad. It's delicious! The children's menu was generous, with all the usual offerings. It has a beautiful garden with picnic tables to the back, plus a brilliant climbing frame for kids. One bank holiday we went, there was also a bouncy castle, which made for very happy (and ultimately hungry) children. Service is what you'd expect from a pub, but I have to say, one waitress we had while sat in the older part of the pub (mind your head on the beams!) really went out of her way to be helpful and friendly. I look forward to any excuse to visit this restaurant, it's always a nice, relaxing place to go.
