Our chef took the time to come speak with us, recommend cuts of beef and generally go over our options. This was a lovely surprise as this rarely happens. We started with "fall off the bone" ribs and the Hallumi - (squeaky cheese - wish I could find this here in SoCal... if anyone reading this knows a place... please let me know!) We ordered rib eye steaks, I had the filet... with sides of creamed spinach/truffle fries and Mac and cheese. Everything was cooked to our liking, and the chef came back out to check on us. You just can't help being enveloped in the history and the ambience here. The food was also excellent here, which made it one of my favorite places in Southern England. The peppercorn sauce could do with a little work, but I'm sure this will evolve over time. I tried the Ribeye and the Sirloin and thought both were excellent. I've booked for my next visit already.
