This theater is no exception when it comes to great productions, creative and talented performers, and events that go on all year round. The Windham Theatre Guild offers plays, musicals, concerts, special events, and a HUGE indoor tag sale that happens every January. There is something available for every age and stage of life. Tickets can be purchased at the door most of the time. The old velvet covered seats as well as the local Hosmer Mountain Soda that's available during the intermission are sure to bring a smile to your face if you remember the days when theaters had these things to see and drink. You'll also get personal service with REAL people when you get ushered to your seat, given your snacks that you can eat during the performance (yes!), and an opportunity to enjoy yourself in a very intimate setting. Often times there is art work on the walls around the theater so there is the possibility of a gallery showing during your attendance at a performance. Some of the art could also be available for sale at times. Be on the look out for good stuff! You'll also see Playbills of performances that have been done through the years. Since 1985, the WTG has been delighting audiences who have attended their performances and events. This is a great place to go for reasonably priced ukes, guitars, and rhythm instruments, plus a…read moreselection of strings, cables, picks, parts, and supplies that is surprising for a Main St. store. Mark, the proprietor, is knowledgeable, friendly, and a great guitar player and teacher, who really works with customers to find the right instrument and to play better. If you are looking for something in particular, call ahead. If he doesn't have it, Mark can generally get it pretty quickly.

The theater has been around a while and definitely shows some wear and tear. The carpet could stand a good steaming and some of the seats have rocked a bit too much and are now off kilter. I found myself wishing the audio was a bit louder as well. All in all, though, a decent choice for an out of the way theater, if you're looking to avoid the crowds.

The ticket purchase and concessions were quick, but there were not a lot of people around. The theatre we sat in had one big isle running up the middle, I prefer a seat directly in front of the screen so that wasn't even an option. There were two seat styles and the recliners looked a little rough so we sat in the very reclining theatre seats. The volume was a touch loud, but the picture was great. Not a bad experience for our first movie in like 3 years.

It has a nickname of Thread City because in earlier times, there were an abundance of mills. The Willimantic river played a vital roll in powering the mills. A well-known mill was called the Willamantic Thread Company. Just like most New England towns, it's a town rich in history and culture. There are many historic Victorian homes. Eastern Connecticut State University is located there. There are many shops and restaurants. My family and I enjoyed walking around and exploring. We loved the artwork on the buildings. There are museums, parks, and it's close to other attractions nearby.
