Mike DeAngelo a retired park ranger guided us through the Badlands, Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons. He had daily readings, good jokes, inspirational videos, and really made our trip special. Our group of 43 had varied interests & fitness levels & Mike managed to cater our activities to everybody . Ray drove a luxurious motor coach along rural roads. He got us through bad traffic jams, managed to park in some tough spots and always had a bottle of icy cold water on hand. When he wasn't driving the bus, he was cleaning the windows, emptying our garbage, and filling his basket of snacks. Like our previous tour, Caravan took care of our luggage, tickets for attractions & whisked us from place to place. Hotels, many meals & tours were arranged. Pointed out were things not to miss & they were missed the first couple of times we came through these parts unescorted.

Most were too far away from anything, We were told to "take an Uber or cab" if we wanted to explore. Lunch stops were too long, would've had more time to explore. By the time you got to the hotels you were too exhausted. The Hotel in Vermont was the worst. First they put us in a room with one bed, while they had plenty of 2 bed ones. Only one restaurant was open by the time we got there, it was good but way too expensive. All the shops were close but were closed by the time we got there. Place was run down and rooms had alot of damage. The "breakfast" was a joke, not even continental. Newport was one museum (with a rude staff) and a long lunch stop. Mystic was barely 2 hours. Both were in one day. The lunches were not included, that was stated and expected. However, we always stopped in small towns with not much choices. All were expensive and weren't grab and go. How about a fast food joint? Rest stop? 7-11, etc.? Our tour guide Lynn was not terrible. Talked way too much about her personal life. She talked way too much as well. She mentioned her final tip at least 4 times, very crass and rude. Never really led any of our the tours besides on the bus, mostly dropped us off and picked us up. She changed alot of the tour to her liking, we bypassed alot that would have been more interesting. Saying " this place is great, but we don't have time" or "you can come back to see it". That's why I'm here now. We also had to leave early the last day beacuse 2 people out of 48 had an early flight. Tour started all flights after 12pm, she inconvinced the entire bus for 2 guests. We were all dumpped off at 9am at terminal A at Logan, most had fights out of other terminals and were told we can walk, or catch a free shuttle, or "tour Boston one last time". Not stated in the tour description. I could've caught a much earlier flight home. There were also alot of older people on the tour, including my father. She refused to adjust the tour to their needs. Everything was a long walk with few choices. Long days with short rest. Positives (reason for the one ) Our driver Joel. Joel was witty, funny and very nice. He is an excellent driver and was and always on time. He knew more about the destinations than Lynn. We met very nice people from all over the country, in particular many fine southern men and women. They were the best part, friendly and funny, lots of fun and laughs were had. Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, Plymouth were the highlight. Portland was nice as well, but we should've stopped in Kennybunkport as well. The final hotel in Ogunquit was beautiful and tge town was a close walk, right on the ocean, wish we had more time there. Simply put, i will never use Caravan again. Our first tour our west they were awesome, accommodating and our tour guide Tom was great. We had a few hiccups, but they were dealt with. I could not believe there was a horse stable this close to my house. They have a LOT of horses and…read moreponies. There were 5 people in my group and Anna was our guide. She was amazing! The ride was leisurely and relaxing but still fun. They recommend dressing for the weather but wearing jeans and gym shoes, which was perfect. My horse was Sammy (ironic) and my husband's was Denny. I also had a connection with Sanchez (although that may be because I was feeding him tons of apples and mints). I wish we would have known about the carrots and apples but you can bring your own and make friends with all of the beautiful horses! I can't wait to go back.

My daughter did a trail ride. She has several years of riding experience so we have seen all sorts…read moreof barns. While the ride was fine and the trainer was friendly, I was SHOCKED at the condition of the barn. The smell of urine was overwhelming. The stalls looked like they had not been mucked out in weeks. Tons of poop in the stalls. Animals just looked sad and depressed. The barn and arena were dark and depressing. Absolutely no outdoor space for the animals. I'm shocked people board horses there. Conditions are terrible. There were about 30 farm animal just standing around in a dark arena. Reminded me of a nursing home. Very depressing. Everything just looked neglected.

She had attended beginner camp at New Traditions last week. I did see them the camp riding nose to tail on the first day of camp when I stopped back early, but the camp person claimed that was a one time thing - and that they were going to fix it by rearranging the groups and it wouldn't happen again. I'm so gullible, I believed them.) Not knowing this nose to tail - waste of time "riding" - was their standard MO, at the end of camp, we signed up for a beginner lesson. My daughter really wanted get into horseback riding. She was so excited. When scheduling the lesson, we were told we should do the Wednesday class because there were only 3 kids signed up and there were 8 in the Monday class - and that 8 was a lot so it would be better to go on Wednesday. We were told she would get so much more attention in lessons than she had gotten in camp - and that she would progress quickly because she was a "natural." Fast forward to the lesson today. We arrived today ten minutes before class, then we learned that five more kids had signed up - there were now 8 in this class. Sounded like a lot - the number that the instructor said would be difficult to get individual attention, but okay. In the next ten minutes, however, people kept showing up with Groupons - and getting added to the class. This continued until TEN minutes AFTER the class was supposed to start. By the time "class" started, there were now FOURTEEN kids in the class. Class was late starting because everybody had to wait (with the horses noses to the walls), while more kids kept getting on horses. Then, once everybody was one, they walked each horse's nose in the tail of the horse in front of it. Every time one kid stopped, the entire group stopped. My daughter learned NOTHING and had an incredibly frustrating time. The instructor taught nothing. Plus, it is DANGEROUS. One of the parents was familiar with them doing this informed me that this happens ALOT - especially when they offer Groupons. She said that sometimes a horse acts up and a lot of kids fall off. Just a little something to add to the stress level of watching this disaster of a class. The "instructor" Anne, (and I use this term loosely, because there was NO useful instruction whatsoever) left the class after about 20 minutes because she has to go out and get payments for the people coming for the 5:30pm class. For 15 minutes of the she was out in the lobby getting people and selecting horses for the next class. Meanwhile, the packed horses/children are barely moving around the ring. Anne was also apparently teaching the 5:30 class. But, she had to come out and deal with all the unhappy parents from the 4:30pm class. So, we waited in line to talk to her. We left at 5:45pm after talking to her - and there was still another person waiting. That 5:30 class was still waiting for an instructor while all this was going on. The parent in front of me explained how unsatisfied she was, and Anne told her that she needed to do private lessons, which are $70. Of course, Anne noted, private lessons do not get the ring to themselves, other students will be in the ring. Anne said that they do not limit how many horses will be in the ring during a private lesson - she refused to indicate what number of horses would be too many. When I finally got to speak to Anne, I told her how disappointed I was - and she frankly - didn't care in the slightest. She said that classes fill up and if I don't like the class I need to invest in private lessons. She also told me that having fourteen horses in that tiny arena wasn't dangerous at all. I wish I would have believed the other reviews and not wasted my time and money.

The before and after school care programs were sub par. Teachers would sit in their chairs watching from a distance. They were not patient with high energy boys or anyone that didn't want to color coloring pages non-stop. We had a horrible experience with the principal and the director of Christian Care. We have since moved to Right at School and haven't looked back. Right at School runs organized activities, has counselors that engage with the students and have never just given up trying to help children. If you have a choice, I highly recommend avoiding Christian Care.

Started out here at their summer camp when I was in third grade, which is a little late to start…read moreriding. However, they put me with people my own age and they worked with everyone individually, and by the end I felt very comfortable here. I rode her for about three years, until I broke my toe(not from horses) and stopped for two months. I came back for camp, which was great, although Kara no longer works there. The new instructors were really nice, but the lessons were only half an hour but still cost $60, which we couldn't afford. However, if you can afford this, I really, highly recommend Galway because they can teach any level of rider and I learned something every time. They have great lesson horses and take really good care of the horses they board. I still really miss this place.

I have never written a review on Yelp before but am doing so now because I have never dealt with…read moresuch poor professionalism. We were booking a hotel stay for our friends wedding in Cancun. When I called to make reservations, I should have received an electronic invoice the following day. I did not receive it until a month later, only because the bride and groom did numerous follow ups -(the company has messed up numerous guests travel arrangements so the bride and groom got involved to help everyone). When I finally received the electronic invoice, it was for the wrong location, not Cancun but Punta Cana Dominican Republic. When I received the paper itinerary a few weeks after that, the dates and names were incorrect. I also noticed that we were placed in the family section of the hotel, even though I made specially clear during booking that we wanted to be in the adult section. I followed up with the travel agency to get this corrected. I had to follow Up about 5-6 times to get any sort of real response - I received excuses like they had been out of town since the last time I emailed them, or just no response at all. Then when I finally received a response of some actual content, I was told that since I booked in January when in fact I booked in early December, and can prove that with our credit card statement. Never during booking was I told that the hotel was sold out. I don't believe it was because we could book the adult section if we did it through a public search engine, i.e. Expedia. In hind sight I wish we had just booked on our own so that we wouldn't have had to deal with all this. This company is extremely unorganized and I would never use them again for travel purposes. Not only are they disorganized, they are rather snarky in responses which is not how you treat your customers. What is more concerning is that travel arrangements could easily get screwed up by them because of how unorganized they are.

This is a wonderful summer camp for kids who are super active and love doing different things every…read moreday. They take the kids on tons of different field trips, and when they stay on-site they bring in fun activities and entertainment. My kids loved the add-on activities, which include horseback riding, rock climbing, and cooking classes. I like that you can see the entire summer's schedule, day-by-day, before you enroll, too. As a parent I really appreciate how accessible and responsive the owners Brooke and James are. They replied to every question and concern quickly, and they were very helpful and professional with each interaction. I can tell these are parents who truly care that every camper and parent has a great experience with them. Oasis is a great option for families who need flexibility--there are large windows for drop-off and pickup, and you can even enroll your child one day or one week at a time. I've never found another day camp with this kind of flexibility and I really appreciate it as a working parent.

As a parent I was very attracted to this camp by the array of activities, particularly the twice a…read moreweek swimming and weekly field trips to local kids arcades and fairs. But my child did not enjoy the long bus rides to the various destinations. Many of the places they went were an hour or more away (Rockford water parks, Brookfield zoo). Apparently the camp did not have kids doing group bus activities (telling stories etc) on the long drives. When we saw how much time they were spending sitting on buses without bus activities, we were surprised. We don't recall our camp field trips this way--bus rides were chances for counselors and campers to invent wacky songs or play group games...but it seems this wasn't the case here. Our child also said that the counselors weren't as attentive as counselors at other camps. When we fetched our child at 3:30 or 3:45 each day we also found that counselors were completely unengaged--texting or dozing on the gym floor. Kids were running around unsupervised. We assumed the extra expense of this camp (which costs more than other day camps) was because kids could stay the full day...but when we saw that after 3:30 the camp becomes a free-for-all with unplugged counselors, we made an effort to get off work early to pick our son up at 3:30. The camp should insist that the counselors remain engaged and actually supervise children in the 3:30-closing period. Many of the activities were great on paper but didn't quite materialize. Cooking class with real ovens didn't happen, No real arts activities, at least not during the weeks our child was there. Theme weeks the weeks my son was there theme day and a half--a trip and a related optional dress up day. Also, the theme did not seem to bring other learning or creative opportunities....which is fine, since camp should be mainly about having fun...but if your kid is expecting a full week of Harry Potter extravaganzas, he'll be disappointed. I'd like to believe that a lot of the problems with the camp this summer had to do with the fact that one of the camp directors/owners was pregnant and recently had her baby (I don't think I ever saw her at the site, and I don't think I ever met the other director, either...save for at the open house day in the spring). Perhaps they were more hands off than normal because of the baby. I do think an effort should be made to find more engaged counselors for next year. Of all the male counselors I've met at various camps, for some reason this lot looked the most bored...and kids pick up on that. At least our child did. I don't want to be completely negative here. The camp did some nice things I have not seen done elsewhere--posting photos online each week of the kids at the pools, trying to offer a variety of fun activities. If better, more engaged counselors were found and encouraged to remain attentive all day, and if the long bus rides were minimized and activities for those rides created, the camp could be as good as it soujnds like it should be.
