They even helped us unload everything from the car and decorate. They kept the party running smoothly by making announcements over the intercom to let everyone know when it was time to eat and when we were cutting the cake. It made the whole event so organized. It has been super cold for the last week or so and a friend and I decided we needed to get our kids out so they could have fun and run wild. I've seen Fit City Kids, having lived fewer than two miles away, but this was our first visit and it was great. The entrance fee wasn't bad, especially since one can stay for the full open play time. They have several different areas for play. There is a basketball court area, a play soccer field, gymnastics space, and an indoor playground. There's also a small area that is specifically designed for children aged three and under, although we were told that kids can play in any section (except for the bounce house, which is for the private parties). Our one year olds mostly played in the soccer area, having fun just running around. There's one half of the place where you can wear shoes or not (the basketball/soccer areas) and then in the other half you may not wear shoes. There are one or more party rooms in the back of the facility. (I'm not sure if they overlap parties or not; there were four happening on the day we were here.) Food is not permitted in the facility except for in the party rooms or in the front "lobby" area. They have a few snacks for sale, and based upon the water I bought for my babe the prices don't seem ridiculous. I really appreciate that they don't appear to have any restrictions on bring your own snacks and water, just asking that you respect the areas in which you can eat them. They don't have a water fountain (unless I just wasn't looking in the right places) so bring your own drinks. One downside is that I found only one changing station in the entire place. Don't look for it in the women's room (or probably the men's room, either, I'd expect) but in the individual gender neutral bathroom. With the number of children who might be here at any time and the age ranges they welcome, I was really surprised to see just the one. On the other hand, it was an actual changing table rather than a station that is bolted into the wall and folds down, which always make me a little nervous. They also don't have much space for parents to sit. There are some tables in the "lobby" and a few benches outside the various play areas, but it might be difficult for someone who needs a chair/seat, or someone who's disabled, especially if they want to be closer to the activity areas and keep an eye on their children. Another thing they need to work on is the parking lot. Their parking lot is really large, especially for Lincoln Square--and it's free!--so that's all to the good. Ideally they'd have straight parking spaces since that allows for the most spots; the lot is a bit narrow, so they've opted for diagonal with a few straight. But they need to paint the lot! Driving through this lot was difficult because people parked like they've never parked before. We will definitely return. There are several indoor playgrounds around and I'd like to try the different ones that offer entrance to kids as young as mine in part so we can figure out which are our favorites. But after my experience here I imagine we may be purchasing a membership in the future. read more

We had the opportunity to visit Fit City Kids for a private birthday party. The facility is spacious, sectioned off by activity, and has a nice party room. At the entrance, they have tables/chairs and many cubbies for shoes/coats. Make sure you have socks as shoes must be removed in most of the play areas. A waiver needs to be filled out in order to participate. I liked that you could do a paper version, use a tablet, or scan a QR code and do it on your phone. That helped the line move fast! They have a little toddler section, a basketball court, soccer area, gymnastics area, and slides! So, there's something for littles and the big kids...and they are sectioned off. There are benches in between all areas for parents/grownups to sit. The party room has an area to set up food and then the area with tables. I loved that it was a private event. I'm assuming this is an available option after hours, as this party was at 7PM. My daughter had so much fun and wants to have a party there now. If we were in the area, we'd love to check out their classes and other offerings. They also have a free parking lot which is a huge plus in the city! read more

Great addition to the neighborhood. It's clean and well run. The indoor soccer area and padded mats is really fun. You can easily spend 1.5-2 hours there. It's pricey so if you are going to go more than once in a month it probably makes sense to do a membership. It is nice that the admission fee gives you all day access so you could technically leave and come back if you wanted. -They have an area up front with tables where you can have a snack and then head back in. -Large parking lot is always a plus. This place is absolutely phenomenal. We have been members for several years and my kids have grown from the baby classes to older kids tumbling classes. They love free play and everything Fit City has to offer. Both of my kids also attended the preschool program, Learn and Play PreK, at Fit City Kids and we have been so happy with the early childhood educational experience the preschool offers. The unique program blends creative play with age-appropriate academic learning. Students make friends while learning in a safe, fun, and creative environment. Ms. Daye and Ms. Vanessa provide outstanding structure, guiding students to burn off their energetic wiggles and teaching preschool academics that prepare them for pre-k 4 and kindergarten. My 3-turning-4-year-old has mastered all her letters and numbers, can do basic addition, and writes her name and other words. My first-grader, who attended the preschool there several years ago, was more than prepared for elementary school. The unique environment lets students release their toddler- and preschooler-level energy in the indoor play space during cold Chicago winters. In warmer weather, students enjoy the outdoors at a local park or the outdoor field right at the school. You should check this place out! Next year, they will offer a full-day option, and you can customize morning, afternoon, or full-day attendance to create a schedule that works for you. LOVE Fit City Kids!! What an AMAZING concept, with a well-designed open-gym for babies, toddlers and young children! I have been looking for a gym like this for a year now in Chicago. In Linc Park -area, there are plenty of gyms for babies/toddlers/young kids but they are mostly restricted to classes. We didn't favor that. We wanted exactly this: for children to have full reign on play and sports. The layout of the gym is perfect! Upon entry, there are tables and cupboards for people to stow their belongings and food/beverages (no food/drinks allowed in the play areas for good reason!). Once all have taken shoes/coats/bags off, you are allowed to enter the play areas (leave personal toys at home; they aren't needed here). You walk down a sizable long hall which is the center of the entire gym. You can see everything going on from center hall, which also has benches strewn throughout for parents/guardians to sit on (if they do not want to enter the play areas). On one side of this hall is the baby play area (0-3), which is separated from the kids play area (2+) by benches that prevent the babies from escaping while allowing the toddlers/kids to climb/run over. Mostly, the kids are in their age-appropriate space; sometimes, there are a few older kids (4+) in the baby area, but the Coaches are great at observing the space and redirecting the children to their proper play spaces. On this side of the gym, there is also a gymnastics section in the back, which offers plenty to do! On the other side of the hall are the sports sections: basketball, soccer, hockey, etc. The sections have the same gates to access each sport's court/field. Young kids can easily reach the gate handle to enter each sport field; toddlers may be a bit short to reach the gate handle, making it easier to keep an eye on the younger ones and there whereabouts. Brilliant design throughout, really. They offer monthly memberships (which I did) for $59/month (unlimited open play). They also have day passes for $20 (cost of the child; guardians are free), which is open play all day (you can go and come as you please for the day). Very reasonable! Several bathrooms with changing stations are located in the back of the gym, and one bathroom near the front desk for hand-washing on one's egress/ingress. Most of the kids are very polite and sweet. There is only one young girl who seemed to be a bit problematic. She is there (camp) often, and is aggressive/unfriendly towards other children. She is often in the baby section, but she looks at least 3 or 4, and the Coaches all seem aware of this child. She is sometimes sitting with the Coaches up front at the desk or in a room with Coaches, away from the others. We have come to Fit City Kids often, and she was the only child I didn't want near my son. I am glad the Coaches are on top of things, and understand when to remove bullies from the rest of the innocent crowd. They have camp for young children, pre-school programs, and plenty of sports programs for the littles. Space is extremely clean. The Coaches are WONDERFUL. It's family-run, which is probably why it's well kept and so inviting. We all really love Fit City Kids (my son, my husband, myself, and all of my friends/neighbors and kids who I've introduced to this gem). We were told by Kim, the magnificent manager, that they are opening a new location near Midtown Athletic in the Fall of 2024! We came in to check out the facility, monthly activity options and parties packages. It did not disappoint. The play areas are clean, spacious, very high ceilings, and so much fun. They offer a lot of sport type activities and dance options for kids. They also have multiple play zones areas for all kids all ages and a separate area for younger kids. They have baseball, basketball, volleyball, bumper ball, ninja training course options for birthday events. The staff and owner are super helpful and friendly. This place is such a gem. We've had good experiences with open play (great way to get out some energy when weather makes the playground tough), School's Out camps, a Halloween party, and attending birthday parties as a guest. I specifically wanted to praise the experience of hosting a child's birthday party here for the first time. It was seamless and low stress - staff assisted with set up, tear down, blowing up balloons, even serving pizza and cake. They were professional, courteous, and kept everything moving smoothly. Though the rate of $525 for 2 hours may seem high at first, that includes up to 40 people (no limit on how many of them can be kids), two connected private back rooms with ample seating and space for food/cake and a coat rack, and again - help from staff! They'll check in with you about timing for food etc. and announce overhead so kids know to round up. The several different areas mean there's something for every kid - gymnastics area, climbing/indoor gym, basketball, soccer, baby/toddler area - even a big bouncy house obstacle course for an extra fee (or if you maybe get lucky and it's up anyways and they allow it for open play). There's also easy parking with an attached lot and street parking if that's full and it's close to the Rockwell brown line or Lawrence bus. Again, this was SO much less stressful than hosting a similar event last year with slightly lower cost but also lower attendance limits and without the staff support. This multi-functional space is brilliant. We haven't done the on-site preschool, the "night out" events, or the classes (basketball, tumbling, etc) but assume those are also well-run. So grateful for Fit City Kids and hope they can expand to more locations and neighborhoods - such an amazing resource for families with young children. read more

We just visited Fit City Kids for the first time this week and we had an amazing time. The place is super clean, the staff were friendly and helpful even when I had to come to them to notify that one of the kids in the play area had a bathroom accident. They were quick to grab supplies and clean up. My son had a blast in all of the areas from the toddler area to the slides and tunnels. I can't say enough positive things about Fit City Kids! We've been to a birthday party and have spent several days at their camps. Everything is clean and well-organized, and the space itself is open, bright and has great variety. All of the staff is friendly and engaging, and Brad and Kim went out of their way to help my son during camp on numerous occasions when he had difficulties, got upset, etc. We are especially grateful to the entire team there for the camps they set up during the recent CPS/CTU school shutdown. Sign up was easy and quick, they answered all questions, required vaccinations and masking, and in general made a time that was SUPER stressful on parents a little less so. We visited this establishment this weekend for a birthday party. It was very clean and had activities for kids of all ages. The play areas are enclosed with a gate, but open between the different age group areas. There's also a basketball court and soccer field there. Concessions are also available for a cost. The host did say that she only had 20 minutes to set up; thankfully she had help and could accomplish this in that time period. I wish there was something similar to this closer to where we live. Our daughter has been a monthly member of Fit City Kids for over a year. It is clean, safe, and social place for kids to burn off steam in the winter and on rainy days. It deserves a five star review simply for the facility and the environment it fosters in the Lincoln Square community. What prompted me to write this review are their amazing day camps. As a working parent, these camps have provided a last minute back up care service that is truly invaluable for our family. We have now twice this summer had to find child care at the last minute, but instead of scrambling we simply go on their website and book a day camp session. It could not be easier and I have peace of mind knowing we have options. Next summer, I will use at least one week of the camp, not as a back up option, but as primary care. My daughter loves the activities and it is very affordable. This place is a gem! read more

This is an awesome place for kids. My son has had a fantastic time at camp this summer and is sad that it is coming to an end. They do so many activities with the kids like basketball, dodgeball, floor hockey, arts & crafts, that keep them active and having fun. It has been a tough summer to be out and about due to COVID but I have not had any hesitations letting my son go to Fit City considering all of the procedures and safety measures that they have implemented. I sort of stumbled into it, but over the summer they have a pretty impressive small pre-K section for your 3- and 4-year olds. They've got a nice side room and an impressive staff, they work on some arts and crafts, writing names and he came home happy. It's a half day from 830-1230pm at present. I don't know how many Ravenswood residents know about it. But if you need a week's coverage somewhere for your young one, this isn't a bad place to use. read more
