I've purchased at least 10 Groupon escape room deals with other companies and have never been charged an additional booking fee, so this came as an unpleasant surprise. I called to ask about the charges and spoke with the manager, Samantha. I asked if we booked directly with the business instead of using Groupon, would we still have to pay the booking fee. She told me no, because they build that fee into their regular pricing. That left me wondering why the Groupon price doesn't simply include those same costs instead of adding them later during the reservation process. The conversation then became increasingly unprofessional. While my husband started reading our card number to complete the reservation, Samantha interrupted him and asked, "Are you booking or not?" Frustrated by the way we were being spoken to, my husband responded that he didn't want to make the purchase but was only doing so to secure our reservation. Samantha replied, "You don't need to do anything you don't want to do." My husband made a frustrated remark that included one profanity, but it was not directed at Samantha personally. She immediately refused to complete our reservation, stating that we had cursed at her. Between the unexpected fees, the rude interaction, and ultimately refusing to book our reservation, the entire experience left a very poor impression before we ever set foot in the business. If you're considering purchasing this Groupon, be aware that the advertised price is not the final price you'll pay, and customer service may not be what you expect.

They offer food and drinks that you'd see at other venues, and the prices are about what you expect. The attendants are on the older side, but I suppose that would be expected for a performing arts center. They direct foot traffic and try to get everyone to where they need to be. They will check your ticket upon entry (not just security at the door) to give instructions on where your seat will be. They are pretty strict after the performance though and will usher you out.

It was in what I would expect to be the main room, which was very open, clean, and welcoming. There's a stage up front and the rest of the room is clear hardwood floors: perfect for a dance class but it'd work for a multitude of events. The entire center seems new, and I was definitely impressed by the grounds, complete with basketball courts and a soccer field. If you have driven much between Midtown and Buckhead, odds are that you've passed this castle-like house before. Parking is across Spring Street in a dedicated lot (underneath an on-ramp to the connector). You then just cross the street and are behind the home itself. We entered via the front door which faces Peachtree Street. Our tour lasted about an hour and focused on the architecture and history of the home. It was constructed early in the 20th century and has a lot of nice details (woodwork, light fixtures, wall murals, etc.). The tour does not include the upstairs (which is now office space for the historic trust that operates the site). It does include a brief visit to the basement, which is just an average semi-finished space. There is also a room with historical photos of the surrounding area - the shopping plaza that was built later and which surrounded the home on three sides at one point (only one 'arm' of derelict shops still exists). I recall when the Rhodes Theater was still in operation (showing older and/or cult films). I've driven by here countless times and it was nice to actually get an in-depth tour of the property. This is definitely worth doing once if you live in the area or have an interest in architecture.

We had 95 guests with our ceremony on the steps, cocktail and reception split inside and out so that the dance floor could be in the reception. It was a bit windy for the piping drape and urns so be certain you weight down well. Chrystal was a true joy, her experience with the venue gave her the knowledge to make great suggestions. While we did add florals and décor on the tables and mantels, we kept them in the feel of the home very lush and loose. We wanted people to explore the home the whole evening, not just for ceremony or dinner. We put the bar into the den so it was just off the dance floor (in the reception hall ) and would keep people flowing through the home even after dinner. She offered to work with us every step of the way and was always easy to reach when needed. I got my cake bar in the parlor with my 60" rounds plus sweetheart table and the rest of the guests were either seated in the library or on the porch. Dinner was buffet style, then we all returned for dancing and mingling. Several did mingle on the front and side porches, taking photos of the home, ceremony or photo backdrop. The day of is truly a whirlwind, the staff was on top of everything. I'm very hands on and they wouldn't allow me to do anything. = ) I too, returned from my honeymoon to find my security deposit check had been returned. It was even easy to pick up the cooler we realized had been left there about 2 weeks we later. I can't wait to see the rest of our photos as the peeks I've gotten have been amazing! My friends and I did The Grand Zeppelin, since Time to Escape is located near AmericasMart, near…read moreour puzzle convention. 5 of us made a reservation for 9pm on a Saturday, which came out to about $45/person. As someone who is a big scaredy-cat, I asked my friend to call to see if live actor was scary, and they assured us that it was not scary. I can say that they were true to their word! We had Tanner as our live actor / guide through the experience. He was very immersive and passionate about the role. This was my first time doing a room with a live actor, so I don't have a point of comparison. I personally didn't like the way clues were given, but others may appreciate the banter and silly actions Tanner was doing to lead us in the right direction. I thought the addition of "crisis" moments was a clever way to reward strong players. My main issue with the room was that it was linear. At no point were two groups of people working on something simultaneously. That means that if you have more than three people, some members may be standing around. There was also one puzzle that is solved solely by trial-and-error, which is poor design. For the price, I had higher expectations in production value. The best part of The Grand Zeppelin was the ending, and I do want to commend Tanner for providing us with an immersive experience!

The catering dropped the ball for people who did not eat meat or fish. My plate consisted of a dry salad (no dressing) and some sort of grain dish that I opted not to eat. Our server struggled with our table of eight, as we had to wait longer than expected for refills and updates on our meal offerings and timing. It wasn't a major issue, but it did take away from the overall experience. The tables and chairs need to be reupholstered or replaced, as the chairs we had damaged two of our table guest's dresses. Overall, it is a great venue.

Our company held our annual holiday party this year at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. The Foundry at Puritan Mill is located in Westside Atlanta, very close to the King Plow Arts Center. The site used to be home of the Puritan Chemical Company, who manufactured soaps and other cleaning products. The building has since been renovated and transformed into a clean and modern-looking facility. The floor space is huge. Sections were cordoned off with tall, elegant, white curtains. Along with nice decor and ambient lighting, the building still maintains an industrial look and feel with high, enormous ceilings with exposed ductwork and steel support beams, smooth-finished concrete floors, brick walls, and giant warehouse-style windows. There's also a patio outside, not to mention ample free parking. Puritan Mill provided more than enough space for our group of about 130-140. For our party, the venue was divided into three sections: (1) cocktails, h'orderves, (2) live music and dancing, (3) dinner. The first hour consisted of an open bar with standing tables and light h'orderves. When dinnertime rolled around, the curtains were pulled back and the beautiful, intimate dining area opened up. After dinner, dancing lasted late into the night. Overall, it was a very fun time and I had a blast. Food and drinks were provided by Bold American Catering (preferred caterer). Live entertainment was provided by Freeflight Productions of Kennesaw.
