Review of Roswell Historic Hall: A Bride's Nightmare…read more I am deeply disappointed and frustrated with the service provided by Roswell Historic Hall during our wedding reception on April 27, 2024. Our experience was far below the expectations set during our initial meetings, leading to numerous issues that marred what should have been a joyous occasion. Shuttle Service: The shuttle service was a disaster. Despite scheduling pick-up times, the shuttle was over an hour late. Elderly guests, some requiring walkers and canes, were left standing for long periods. Many guests ended up walking to the venue, crossing Alpharetta Highway, which was unsafe and unacceptable. Additionally, several groups of guests waited over an hour for the shuttle to leave after the event, with the driver nowhere to be found. My father and other guests had to personally search for the driver behind the bar multiple times. Police Officer & Staff: Despite paying $500 for a police officer, no officer was present. This was a clear breach of our contract, and I demand an immediate refund. Initially, there was no bartender at the cocktail service, leaving guests to serve themselves. My friend had to ask for help with the margarita machine, only to be told to calm down when she needed assistance. The waitstaff were largely absent, choosing to hang out in the kitchen and tent area instead of serving guests. Food and Beverage: The quality and quantity of the food were extremely disappointing. The charcuterie display was tacky and insufficient for our 160 guests. Many guests, including my daughter, went hungry. The cocktail hour spread fell far short of what was promised. I had to ask for more food to be put out, which should not have been necessary. The champagne toast was another fiasco; I had to text you to start opening the champagne despite our prior discussion. Decorations and Cakes: The cookie table was not placed as agreed and was nearly empty when I checked it. I had to restock it myself, which is unacceptable. The cakes were displayed without any decorations, and the cake topper was not placed until I did it myself. The cake was not distributed to guests, resulting in a $700 loss as many guests did not receive any, and we had no leftovers to freeze for our anniversary. Organization: Throughout the evening, I had to make numerous phone calls and texts to address issues that should have been managed by your team. My husband and I repeatedly had to go behind the bar and kitchen to locate servers and items, causing unnecessary stress and disrupting the flow of the evening. You even approached me several times to ask if you could leave, despite knowing the event was not going well. Overall Experience: In summary, the level of service provided during our wedding was unacceptable. It tarnished what should have been a beautiful day and caused unnecessary stress and disappointment for us and our guests. The numerous failures in meeting the agreed-upon expectations have led me to demand a 30% refund of the total amount paid, which is $5,310. I expect a prompt response and resolution to this matter. I strongly urge you to address these issues to prevent similar experiences for future clients. This was supposed to be one of the most memorable days of our lives, and the service provided by Roswell Historic Hall was a complete failure. Message me if you'd like to discuss my experience.

I needed a location that could accommodate the wedding ceremony and the reception. The Estate was able to do this effortlessly without sacrificing the beauty of the wedding ceremony or the fun of the reception. I loved planning my wedding at the Estate because it is a one stop shop: they did our flowers, decorations, linens, food, bar service, valet parking and our cake! As a busy bride, it is so helpful to not have to coordinate with numerous vendors. The artistry of the floral arrangements blew me away. The venue was a hit with our guests as it is an interesting building that allows the wedding to flow seamlessly from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. The venue is tucked off Piedmont Road behind a nondescript brick wall and gate. It is the kind of place you've driven past a million times and never thought twice about. Once you go through the gates of the driveway, you won't forget it. The landscaping and trees that surround the Estate make it hard to believe you are in the middle of Buckhead (we got some great outdoor photos). The main house is a historic antebellum home with a huge sun porch, chic interior design and beautiful art on the walls. There are at least 4 spaces for bars in the main house with a ceremony space and ballroom built off the side of the original structure. I'd recommend having your wedding here-- it was easy to plan with the staff at the Estate and the wedding was so beautiful thanks to their work.

Never once did I have to ask for a drink or bite to eat. I wish I could have him with me every day! The food was "the best wedding food we've ever had" and you have an enormous amount of options to choose from. The property was pristine and is obviously kept up nicely. If you are looking for a wedding venue where you and your guests leave saying "Wow! That was perfect. Everything ran so smoothly", then The Estate is the place for you. We all grew up on and in the Chattahoochee River and there was a least one "senior skip day" many of us floated the river. The staff at Roswell River landing were pleasant accommodating and easy going. Even the mandatory Roswell police officer was helpful and friendly. The venue is reasonably priced, no need to rent tables and chairs and it provided just the right atmosphere for old friends to reconnect and talk, walk out by the river and recall our glory days in Sandy Springs, jumping off the cliffs and floating the Hooch. This place is a gem. Parking may be a little tight as they only have around 60 dedicated spaces but everything else worked out well for us. Thanks Roswell.

[Time & Date of visit]: All day event / 7-10-15 [Party Size]: Wedding event with 100+ guests [Location/Ambiance]: The location is right on the edge of the chatahoochee river, so if any couples are planning their weddings on the weekend; Just hope your wedding photographer can photoshop any kayake-rs / canoe-rs / tubers out, if they happen to be in the shot. Also, the actual building itself shares a portion of the lot with a Tubing / kayak rental company. This location is catered to smaller weddings. The lot fits a good amount of cars, but is no way a walmart parking lot. Inside: I would say quaint and slightly rustic. It's been a while since they renovated the paint and carpet. Centered before the hall is a 4 way open gas fire place. There's a small upstairs loft section that can fit maybe 2-3 large round tables up top on each end and maybe a kids table section in the middle. The wedding I DJ'd for, actually had the side photographer doing a photo booth upstairs. Good thing that along each wall is a good number of outlets, with out having to run extension cords all over the place. There's a small kitchen with a good amount of counter space for any caterers to prep. Which includes the following amenities; Two ovens, microwave, ice machine, double basin sink, and a refrigerator. Rest rooms consist of a men's and ladies' on one hallway, with a unisex / handicap close to the kitchen. I wouldn't call it a family rest room as there isn't a diaper changing station. The dance floor area is pretty small, so they moved me upstairs once the reception started. Outside: Google images shows that a lot of couples perform the ceremony part on the patio section over looking to the chatahoochee. For this part I was section right near the corner of the outside building with two available outlets to provide power for my DJ equipment and speakers; which consisted of a 4 ft table and two 15" PA speakers on speaker stands beside me just for size reference. After the ceremony and transition to cocktail hour, there were a good amount of space for banquet tables, high tables for just placing drinks, and a bartender station. [Service]: I was only the DJ so I did not join any of the meetings between the bridal couple and the management. Though they only rent out tables and chairs which you can see the prices and description on their site. But the caterers had to bring their own table cloths and such. As for noise, the city of Roswell has a noise ordinance that limits any events for this area to end at 12 am. As the wedding party was gathering everything up, the management team started to put up all the tables and chairs. Try not to forget anything, cause they are pretty quick on locking up and heading home. {Summary}: With the new rights that allowed other types of couples to get married, I would say that this location is great for any small weddings. This location also provides a good scenery for sunset photos. I believe that if an event such as a wedding, it's about $600 for rental and $500 for a refundable deposit for weekdays; M-Thur. And weekends are $1100 with also a $500 refundable deposit.

The ballroom was beautiful and elegant, and we had a great time. The Imperial Ballroom used to be the hotel's dining room in the 1920s (the hotel opened in 1924). It "features ornate blue and ivory hand-plastered ceilings, 10 columns, and a unique recessed wood floor." It looks really nice. I forget our event's guest count, but I think it was upwards of 150, 170. There was live music, both in the pre-function space during cocktail hour and on stage in the ballroom during dinner and dancing. There was also a two-sided bar. We had a seated dinner with the following: * First Course: Caesar Salad with garlic focaccia croutons, shaved Parmesan, and Caesar dressing * Main Course: Filet of Beef over herbed risotto with a peppercorn jus and Chicken Pancetta over sauteed greens with a lemon beurre blanc We also had cake. All of the food and drink were good. To drink, I had a couple of extra-dirty martinis (delicious) and also a bit of wine, with dinner. Service was fine. The bartender who made my martinis did an excellent job. The Biltmore Ballrooms is called "Ballrooms" (plural) because there are two ballrooms: the Imperial Ballroom and the Georgian Ballroom. The Ballrooms are conveniently located to many places in Midtown. We ended up walking one block north to the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel for after-party drinks. The Renaissance was the "official" hotel for our group. For parking, there's a garage on-site (next to Cypress Street Pint & Plate). We Ubered.

The food was also incredibly good and the bar even took the steps to serve modified Old Fashioneds (no simple syrup). However, their customer service ahead of and at the end of the wedding (and even how they treat their staff) was well below expectations. And as you will see in their response below, they continue to argue with customers (and in this case their guests after the fact). It's quite surprising to see a vendor argue with someone in a public place. A bit about my background, I led a $2B business selling to a major retailer - and in my career, I never argued back with that customer because it seemed dumb to argue with folks keeping us in business. So, the response below (and now in a picture) is shocking to see on a $30k+ per transaction business. It also seems to imply that 'pushy attitude' is written in their contract and they will not flex from what's in the contract. Example, the venue had no booking during the day and so opening early, seemed possible [maybe they bill for 1-2 people to be there from the venue itself?]. Their actions and sometimes lack of - led to a higher than expected stress level for the bride and family. All of these things seem easy to remedy on their part. However, if you decide to get married here - it seems critical to have everything you expect of them spelled out in the contract (down to requiring the demeanor of the management to be polite, consistent, and responsive). As I understand it, many commitments were made by the venue ahead of the big day - only to be told over email at 1 AM, two nights before, were not included. This is after leading up to the event never being able to have a consistent contact person - perhaps, requiring the event sales rep to give their cell # to customers is a good idea? One example, was saying last minute they would not provide vases for the flowers on tables. In a last stitch effort, vases were rented from the florist. Day of, the venue was insistent that those coming to decorate could not be in Ivy Hall any sooner than 4pm for a 6pm start. At the end of the night, the staff quickly broke down the tables and expected those of us packing up the gifts, vases, flowers, signs, etc to be extremely quick. Amidst that chaos, there were candles and plastic domes around them sitting next to other things that were the wedding party's. We started packing the white candles and the manager came over and said "Those aren't yours! And great, you messed them up!" She then proceeded to chastise the bar tender for not paying attention to us stealing things. Why would we want 10-20 used candles? And, my girlfriend overheard them loudly say 'we're trying to get them out of the bridal suite' - when they were packing up the bride's things. As an aside, it takes me back a little to have the management call the bride's family "vendors" in her response (see picture) as we were the ones setting up and taking down decorations. Great venue, good food, bad service. A well spelled out contract defining your (not just theirs as the management states in their comment) expectations is a must-have if you do a wedding or other event at Ivy Hall. You only get one wedding, venues do many of them - might consider elsewhere if you are seeking guidance from the venue's experts throughout this once in a lifetime event for you.

All are located within a 1/2-mile radius, and 2 are literally within about 200 yards of each other. Our second stop was at Barrington Hall. It is located across Hwy 120 from Bulloch Hall, a bit closer to Roswell Road. They have a small parking lot out front. Like the others, there is no fee here. We again wandered up to the house's front facade (which faces away from the parking lot towards Hwy 120) entered via the front door. The docent on duty was again friendly and just asked for our zip code and how we'd heard about the venue. You are then free to wander the house via whatever route you like. Most rooms have a sign with a 4-digit code. You call a phone number (the same one used at the other 2 houses) and enter successive codes as you proceed. For each code, there is an accompanying description of the room's historical context and of its furnishings. These mansions all seemed to follow the same basic floorplan - a central linear hallway with 2 or 3 rooms off each side and a staircase at the end. This house was a bit smaller than Bulloch Hall, but had slightly more furnishings. This home also had more of a formal garden in the back. If you only had time to tour one house of the 3, I'd still begin with Bulloch Hall. However, this place was nice to visit if you have another 30 - 45 minutes.

The home is well maintained, plus has some actual furniture from the owners and other items representative of the era. I wish I could recall the woman's name who gave us the tour, she was amazing! It was in what I would expect to be the main room, which was very open, clean, and welcoming. There's a stage up front and the rest of the room is clear hardwood floors: perfect for a dance class but it'd work for a multitude of events. The entire center seems new, and I was definitely impressed by the grounds, complete with basketball courts and a soccer field. While Clarkston may have never been on my radar before this event, they're certainly lucky to have a community center like this one. #yelp365 24/365
