They have a huge a selection. From local, domestic and imported. Since I was here for wine, they too have a good section which is categorized by country. What a wonderful beer and wine store! Lots of choices both warm and cold. They dedicate a space for the local beers and most can be purchased by the single. The staff was very kind and helpful too. Masks are currently required and there is sanitizer available at the cash register. Highly recommend stopping here to pick up a few drinks!! read more

I had seven lottery tickets to redeemed today at 12:46pm. The little girl cashed three of them and told me she didn't have enough cash to redeem them all. I had three $100; one $25; two $20 and one $10. She gave me $130 and returned the remainder to me. I didn't realize until a few hours later she kept $100 Ticket. I went back and of course she denied it. She shook her shoulders as to say, 'oh well'. They needed to check the camera pointing right above where she was sitting. UGH!!! It's a good thing I took pictures of the ticket and I will report to the lottery commission. read more

Okay, so this place is cool. Wide selection of beers available- widest 'pick your own six pack' variety I've ever seen. The aisles are a little close together but it's forgivable because they are full of beer. Great way to try different local beers you might not have considered before and for prices that are really reasonable. Fun to just browse through the selection and make decisions that might be bad for your liver, but at least not your wallet. read more

To me "spirits" means alcohol like bourbon, vodka etc. it was only beer and wine. The beer selection seemed VERY diverse and wine as well but we tried to stop for a gift of bourbon. This was very misleading. read more

I visit Kenwood a lot, and I'm surprised that I'd never noticed this place. I found out about it from a blog post by Beer Quest ABV, a local beer blog. Since I needed to visit Trader Joe's anyway, I thought I'd pop in. The parking situation is kind of confusing. I came in the side street next to it, and while there's spots by the back of the building, you can't drive around by the front entrance because both aisles that connect to the front are one way, front to back. Once I parked in the back and walked around to the front, I realized that you can just go in the back door! I'll be doing that in the future, especially since it's right by the beer section. Toward the front of the store, there's a shelf that has a bunch of single bottles on it. You have to watch this area though, because some of the cans and bottles were past their best-by dates, including a few IPAs. Still, this area is good if you want to try something, but don't want to commit to an entire six-pack. In the back is where the real beer section lives. There's pretty much every craft brand you can get in Ohio represented. You name it, they probably have it. Also, their prices are very good. They have a lot of wine and liquor too, but I don't pay attention to that stuff. The staff are super nice. I had a great time talking to two of them at the register, and it seems that they know quite a bit about the beer they sell. I'll definitely be making this a regular stop on my visits to Kenwood! read more

I am a long time customer of Root Cellar, but I will never go back after my latest experience! Yesterday, on fathers day, my wife wanted to try to get me my favorite beer, Anchor Steam. She entered the root cellar, and asked the cashier if they carried Anchor Steam. The woman, heavy set caucasian, was very dismissive. Acting as tho she couldn't understand my wife, who does speak with an accent, but is about the nicest person you will ever meet. So after repeating herself a few times, the woman finally could make out the words. But she had never heard if anchor steam. At the time she was helping a sheriff officer and made the comment, "that really through me off." And laughed at my wife with the officer. My wife came out very upset. So I went in to let this woman know that she had upset my wife and that I have been a longtime customer. She had a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, acted as if she didn't know what I was talking about, and surely it wasn't her. Tho she first the description, just to confirm, I asked if she knew what anchor steam was. She had no idea. How do you work at a store that sells craft beer, and you dont know what anchor steam is? Not just that, but you want to make people feel stupid for asking. It's really too bad because I've always had good experiences here. But one horrible experience is all that it takes to influence a customer to take their business elsewhere as well as let other possible customers know how this place does business. read more

Asked multiple times if Great Lakes Christmas Ale was in and cold. Guy behind counter said go in back by cooler with me being the only One in store. Went in cooler, none there. Found warm stock pie. If I owned this store I would ask my employees to stock the fridges and not just point and tell a customer where a beer is. I took a list into Root Cellar of beer recommendations our bartender in Charleston, SC gave me last week on vacation and found most of them. For such a small place they seem to have almost everything. The employees are very helpful and know exactly where everything is. It's also one of the only places I've bought a winning scratch off lotto ticket. $10 puts a dent in the beer bill. :) read more

Hands down the best selection of rare beers in Cincinnati. While they may not have every normal beer that you would find at Jungles Jim's or the Party Source, they do have rare beers from all around the country. The price is a dollar or two more than you would pay elsewhere, but its well worth it to support a local business that has a great selection of hard to find brews. read more

Their prices are a few dollars higher than what you would find at Jungle Jim's and the Party Source. When I visited most of their shelves were pretty bare. They have a good selection of lesser known beers but it isn't anything that you can't live without. I wish they had a selection of liquor and that the store was better laid out, everything is just kind of crammed together. read more
