Was passing through on the way back home. A place for real locals; warm, hospitable, efficient; lodes to the brim with all your game day needs and then some. This is a classic 'deli-counter-at-the-back' setup. Had a Reuben. I'm overly critical of the subject matter; so no offense meant to those that could clearly see Deer Park's variation as world class: this is a good Reuben. Slightly warm (not marbled) rye, toasted but not necessarily a crisp crust. The meat was good, freshly sliced- it took a backseat to the other players in the band. Could have used slightly more Russian dressing (or Thousand Island, as is my hunch). The sauerkraut was the best part and was abundantly present; pungent bite, delicate texture, noodle-like but still some snap where it counted. Also got deviled eggs- $3 and change for 6 halves. Very good, the ones with paprika, anyway. On a separate note, but applicable to each item, was the value. For $11ish dollars, you'll grab a hearty lunch. Not iconoclastic, not game changing; but satisfying to the gullet and the pocket. read more

Deer Park Deli is the locally owned grocery store and carryout. It has lots of stuff you need for a party. The deli counter is a classic with a large display of salads. It also has lots of beer and liquor. This is fun just to go through. It has the kind of charm you can't get at Kroger. It has something to do with the family who owns it. They run it themselves so it doesn't have the employee turnover like a bigger store. It also has to do with it being a smaller place. They don't have the selection of a chain, but they have a good variety. One other good thing is the liquor. It has Sunday liquor sales. You don't have to wait until after the weekend. read more

I work in Kenwood for a large office. My team and I love Deer Park Deli. The staff are very friendly and the food is awesome. I love that I can go out and do the one stop shopping on my lunch hour and not have to stop anywhere after work on way home. Local, old fashioned deli with fresh foods and all the usual convenience store essentials, plus Ohio State liquor sales. Deer Park Deli is my favorite choice for picking up salami, other deli foods, snacks and the occasional bottle of the harder stuff. It's almost like a bygone age in this store. The aisles, the scents and arrangements of merchandise, the old-fashioned shelving, traditional check-out counters... And homemade cookies in sandwich bags available at the deli counter. They're good people with years of being a part of this community, including participating in many of the local festivals. Great daily lunch specials, too! Get your lunch at Deer Park Deli and walk across the street at an angle to Chamberlain Park and enjoy it in the shade, maybe catch a local ball game or dog walkers. First time customer. Small local butchers are hard to find these days, especially good ones, thank you for the delicious grill meats. They had beautiful steaks on display, but I wanted one cut a bit thicker. They were happy to oblige and cut me a beautiful sirloin steak that fed my family of five. It was reasonably priced and so VERY GOOD. I'm glad we tried it out as new resident of the area. Their Metts and Brats were delicious as well. We tried out the extra hot metts as well. This place is not fancy, in fact it is a bit old and dingy. The deli is well stacked though and the folks behind the deli counter are always friendly and helpful. My main allure to the joint though, is the state liquor store aspect. They have a huge selection (everything you could be looking for liquor-wise). They also carry a good amount of beer, but that part is nothing to write home about. Their Jagermeister is as cold as it could possibly get! Best of all though, is the small town vibe of the place. The owner is a real gentleman, and his (mostly family member) staff are very cool as well. I go there almost every day and have really come to love the store and the crew running it. read more

Today I bought a pound of boiled ham. I normally pay around $6.69 a pound. I bought some other items also. Upon getting home I was charged $11.99 a a pound for ham. I called the store and asked about the price and was informed that is correct. What about the boiled ham you have for $6.69 pr so. Wasc told "never had it". That was a damned lie! (Oct 25). read more
