I had booked an appointment here with Dr. Niemeyer for an acupuncture and moxibustion session to treat my transverse breech presenting baby at 36/37 weeks the same day I had found out and gotten the suggestion from my midwife. They were able to fit me in very quickly and see me the very next day, and I managed to get two acupuncture sessions in that week, as well as a handful of moxibustion to take home and use until my next OB check-up the following week. The staff and Dr. Niemeyer really do a great job at making you feel comfortable and safe. I was so relaxed I didn't feel the acupuncture needles being inserted at all, and I managed to drift off into a nap during both 30-minute sessions I had. Today, after a long week of treatments, moxibustion, walks, and inversions, I had my follow-up and my midwife confirmed that my baby is indeed head down and in perfect position for birth so I will no longer need to schedule an ECV or C-Section unless otherwise indicated for emergency reasons. I am SO overwhelmed with joy and so grateful for the help of everyone here at The Root Wellness. The odds were definitely against us (50/50 turning rate this far along), but we managed to make it happen. Now we'll see if baby decides to stay in position! Haha. If you are someone who, like I was, is on the fence about giving acupuncture a try -- do it! Dr. Niemeyer is incredible, professional, kind, and the treatments WORK. I had been struggling with some sort of inflammatory condition that had my primary care physician stumped and was causing me incredible joint pain, fatigue, and rashes (among other things). Frustrated by the lack of answers and progress, and after reading in medical journals about the scientifically documented benefits of acupuncture for inflammation, I decided to give it a try. I researched providers, read reviews, and checked education/licensure, which lead me to Dr. Niemeyer. At our first appointment, she spent a great deal of time asking and *listening* about my medical history and symptoms. She was thorough, empathetic, concerned, and not rushed -- such a refreshing change from what I had been experiencing with my primary doctors. She then described to me how she would like to approach my treatment, including going over frequency, cost, and long-term strategy. As for the treatments themselves: I was pleasantly surprised by how relaxing and easy they are. The needles are incredibly fine and I only feel the tiniest pinch when they are placed. After each session, I have made marked improvements. As I have started to feel better (hallelujah!!!), Dr. Niemeyer has been proactive in suggesting that we reduce the frequency of visits and switch to more of a maintenance mode. I can tell that she is genuinely interested in the health and well-being of her clients, and will only suggest treatments that will be helpful. Worth every.single.penny.! I was being driven crazy by sciatica and was told by my PCP to take Ibuprofen and check back in 90 days....90 days?!!! I was told by another doctor that it was something I was likely to have to just live with for the rest of my life. Well, Jennifer has outdone them all - after just ONE appointment with her I had immediate relief. I was back to my normal activities the very next day (while still trying to be conscientious). I began seeing Dr. Niemeyer specifically to treat infertility. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for two years, we'd been through multiple rounds of IUI, and were about to begin IVF. She provided excellent and tailored care for each stage of IVF, including egg retrieval, implantation, and the impossible waiting periods throughout. It's a difficult, emotional process, and I always felt better and more relaxed after an appointment with her. Our results were very good. We ended up with six viable blastocysts and we were extremely lucky to have success with the first implantation. Dr. Niemeyer continued treating me throughout my pregnancy, helping with morning sickness, back pain, swelling, and evening out some of the intense hormonal swings. Her office is clean, the rooms are private, and nicely decorated with calming and soothing colors and décor. She makes every effort to ensure her clients have a relaxing experience, with soft music, comfortable, heated beds that can incline (very important in the latter half of pregnancy when lying on your back is very uncomfortable), heat lamps to keep the exposed parts of your body warm, soft blankets, and a call button if you need her to make any adjustments during the treatment. But what I think makes her treatments most effective, is that every single appointment with Dr. Niemeyer begins with a conversation. She would ask me how I was doing that week and she would really listen to my response. She would then tailor my treatment specifically to what she heard, whether it related to infertility/pregnancy or not. She would hit water points if I was swelling, treat my knees if they were sore from exercise, hit points to reduce my anxiety around labor, or calm my frustrations with my three-year old. She provides a mind and body treatment, and I cannot recommend Dr. Niemeyer and the Root Wellness enough.
