We went for lunch to celebrate our son's 2nd birthday yesterday (I heard Rope & Anchor is a good place to go, so thought it would be great opportunity to try the place out). I was not disappointed on arrival, the place was clean, and the decor was nice. The food was nice too. But just as we were enjoying the time dining there, the atmosphere was suddenly ruined by the way the staffs treated us (more precisely by the female staffs). Not because she refused to give us a fresh glass of wine after a wasp fell in to a barely touched glass of wine, saying it wasn't her fault. I understood that, I was only asking if they would be kind enough to replace it - since one of the male staffs who seemed like who was in charge that day was very friendly and helpful. It was because of the way she spoke to me and her mannerism, and particularly because of the other female staff who went on and on about how wasps are to be expected around this time of the year etc etc, making it sound like we were complaining about it when my husband was only telling her to be careful. We even felt a little discriminated against because of our race from the tone of her voice and her attitude towards us. We felt so unwelcome that we rushed to finish our main meal, and left, even forgetting about the dessert we already paid for! We now have a very unpleasant memory of the place when it should have been one of the better times celebrating with family. Not sure I would go back there again, such a shame because everything else was very very good. I will certainly not be asking those female staffs for help next time! read more
