Bartender recommended the Apple Spic Martini and it was excellent. I had arrived early for dinner after work on a work trip so I was comfortable at the bar since I was alone. Its large with plenty of seating and a TV to watch. I opted to grab my food to go so I wanted something i wouldnt feel guilty reheating so althought the salmon and steaks sounded great, I decided to save those for another night and just get a steak sandwitch to go. It was so good with a horseradish aioli. Traded my fries for a side salad with the chipotle viagarette which ended up being too spicy for me but i appreciated it was house made. Lots of other dressings made in house so I am excited to head back and give another one a shot. All and all excellent restaurant that is beautiful enough inside for a fancy dinner but friendly enough for an easy pop in to go meal. Its on my to do for tonight since its the best I have found in town by far.

    * Vintage vibe, decent steak, but pricey + stomach issues*…read more Stopped at Ole' S Big Game Steakhouse in Paxton because my brother said Nebraska does steaks right. The place definitely has character - it's vintage with taxidermy everywhere. Polar bear, giraffe, bull, deer heads on the walls. Feels like you're eating in a hunting lodge. *Food*: I ordered the boneless ribeye, medium rare. It was an average steak - easy to chew, but had more fat than I'm used to and the flavor was nothing special. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't call it memorable. My daughter got the steak sandwich and my wife got the steak burger. We all agreed the food was delicious at the time. *The catch*: A few hours later my wife and daughter both had upset stomachs. I just felt bloated. My son was fine. Could've been a one-off, but worth mentioning. *Price/Service*: Restaurant itself is pricey. Menu items are fair, but the steaks are expensive for what you get. Service was fair - nothing bad, nothing great. If you're passing through I-80 in Paxton and want the experience/vibe, it's a stop. If you're driving out of your way for "best steak in Nebraska", I'd keep going. The taxidermy is the main attraction.

Wow! I had read the reviews on yelp, but then a coworker heard I was in North Platte. She texted…read moreme that I had to go to the Cedar room! I am glad I listened! I came in, took a spot at the bar. I had great service and great conversation with the bartenders and the other patrons. The decor is very stylish with lots of cedar! They had an amazing bourbon selection. It was great to try something rare and expensive! The food was the star of an already great experience! I started with the cowboy caviar. ( country fried steak bites with gravy). They were great. Then I got the ribeye with a side salad. The salad was huge with great toppings. The steak was phenomenal! One of the top 3 ever! Super tender and flavorful. An amazing meal at a great restaurant! Do not pass this one up!

We were driving across country and decided to pull over in North Platte for the evening. I looked…read morefor a restaurant recommendation and found The Cedar Room. We walked in and there are two large rooms, one dining and one bar/dining area. There is a small bar at the far end that sits around 6 or seven people. We were sat near the window and our server was Penny who was excellent. Penny constantly checked in with us and we were never left wait for service. When it came to ordering wine/cocktails, we were immediately put off by the price of wine. The bottles have an approximate 75% mark up on retail. Way overpriced. You don't see these prices even in the most expensive of steakhouses in my opinion. A glass of wine was the price of a bottle at retail. We elected to go with cocktails. For appetizers, we ordered the Wild Mushroom Brie & Ciabatta. $19 Seared Brie Cheese, brandy glazed belle mushrooms, balsamic reduction, fig chutney; served with Ciabatta toast points. This was good. Cowboy Calamari. $19 Breaded Flat iron sirloin steak bites, fried; served with gravy. I was so looking forward to these but I couldn't even taste the meat.....at all! They were so overly breaded and the steak cut so thin that we felt we were just eating the breading. The gravy was tasty but we couldn't finish the steak bites as we just didn't taste any steak. We split a Cedar Room Wedge. $16 Iceberg, bacon bits, tomatoes, cucumbers, blue cheese crumbles; served with dressing of choice. They split it on two plates and basically did a deconstructed salad. It was fine. After not having a great experience with the food and prices of their wine, we elected to leave and skip the dinner. Although we loved our server Penny and it was a cute establishment, we probably would not return.
