Beyond thrilled to find this place! I love wine and a great menu and they offer both but I actually was quickly talked into trying the winter cocktail menu when I arrived. Bartender recommended the Apple Spic Martini and it was excellent. I had arrived early for dinner after work on a work trip so I was comfortable at the bar since I was alone. Its large with plenty of seating and a TV to watch. I opted to grab my food to go so I wanted something i wouldnt feel guilty reheating so althought the salmon and steaks sounded great, I decided to save those for another night and just get a steak sandwitch to go. It was so good with a horseradish aioli. Traded my fries for a side salad with the chipotle viagarette which ended up being too spicy for me but i appreciated it was house made. Lots of other dressings made in house so I am excited to head back and give another one a shot. All and all excellent restaurant that is beautiful enough inside for a fancy dinner but friendly enough for an easy pop in to go meal. Looking round you as you sit in the main dining room, you'll see casually dressed, regular folks who might be there for a burger and fries every Friday. Don't be fooled into thinking CopperMill is a regular bar food joint. Prime cuts of beef sit in the viewing case on your way in, aging to perfection. Select wines are on tap behind the bar, and some of the menu items are innovative and a pleasant surprise for a town of under 10,000. If you are hankering for big city taste in a small town, CopperMill is it. One minor complaint is that the wines pours are pretty meager...it may be emulating a big city....but it's not! Sat at the bar and had good service from the bartender. Had the Tuesday $8 special (cheeseburger and fries), and really enjoyed the burger. The fries were okay. Overall a good experience and it was only negative because of some patrons (one couple next to me wouldn't stop cursing, and someone else at the bar rudely kept flashing his card at the bartender when he wanted to close out). This one is hard to write as I have had the large prime rib twice there. The first time it was the very best prime rib I have ever had - cooked medium rare with excellent lightly smoked flavor and as tenderly close to melt in your mouth as could be imagined. The loaded baked potato was just that and wonderfully so. The house salad was very good. This last time (last weekend) I ordered the same thing with great anticipation and the meat was at to top end of medium and almost done. The smoke flavor was all but absent and there was enough connective tissue to make a lot of it fairly chewy. The loaded baked potato was wonderful as was the house salad. Service was excellent. I don't know that I will come again for a tie breaker as there are other places in McCook to get prime rib. To say I was disappointed after the great meal I had the first time is an understatement. read more

I wish I would've taken pictures inside! The Coppermill (in McCook Nebraska) has done a lot of beautiful renovations! The newly expansive bar is elegant and very comfortable! Great service and food! Convenient spot close to my hotel for a couple days and it's next to a golf course so it's gotta be good right?! Maybe yes maybe no depending on the night. First off Jess at the bar was very friendly and personable and beyond her nightly duties pulling her away from time to time she was always close to refill a drink or offer her menu suggestions. Had the Flyover Cheesesteak with a loaded baked potato on night one and beside the room temperature potato the sandwich was tasty. Didn't catch the smoked prime rib flavor, and the onions were a little heavy but the meat was tender and not overly grisly. Again I'd pass on the loaded baked potato Night two was a little bit of the same but a completely different environment as the restaurant was barely at half capacity and you could feel the vibe was different. The steak sandwich on night two was cooked correctly but again a little on the room temp side and the offered toppings suffered from that. Want to try their crab and lobster stuffed mushrooms appetizer as that looked delicious. Steak pricing caught me off guard hence the sandwich orders, and I'm steak spoiled. read more

We went here for the first time last night. We only ordered two appetizers because we are two old geezers and yeah, dont need that much. Our server was super nice and attentive. We had the lobster and crab mushroom appetizer - got 8 or 9 large mushrooms and they were covered in cheese, delish! Visited here to treat family and relatives to dinner. The food and service are excellent! I had the prime rib with the au gratin potatoes and found them excellent. The rest of the table had their own selection of seafood and steak. The appetizes we ordered were equally good. We stumbled upon this gem one early evening in McCook. PLEASANTLY SURPRISED is an understatement. We've eaten all over the country and have never, EVER had such amazing cuisine at such a reasonable price. We were greeted promptly and with a smile. Nice start! The dining room had a welcoming atmosphere and a flair of elegance. The menu was very extensive but it was obvious that steak is the coup de grace here. The prices ... were outstanding! I started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail- HUGE, juicy shrimp with zesty cocktail sauce - absolutely to die for. We then followed with the Lobster Stuffed Mushrooms.... OMG!! Tasty, juicy, delicious, and fresh lobster and cream cheese topped with loads of yummy mozzarella. I mean seriously- my taste buds were in heaven. I do have to mention that I was starting to think that Covid had messed up my taste buds because nothing was tasting like anything lately. No! I just hadn't had anything that had any taste lol. So, after the mushrooms- we had the French Onion Soup. Smothered in Gruyere cheese, over delicious onion soup on top of crusty bread. Super delicious! My husband had a ribeye and I opted for a cheeseburger. We knew we'd be taking home most of it so I wanted something great for lunch the next day lol. The steak was as expected- cooked to perfection and so tender it could just about melt in your mouth. My cheeseburger didn't disappoint either- flavorful caramelized onions and delectable cheese over an absolutely scrumptious oversized burger. Our server, Katie, was not only delightful but completely on point. Very knowledgeable and professional, AND it was definitely evident that she cared about her customers. Reservations were made months in advance for a large party. I confirmed that we would be ordering appetizers (which I was paying for), everyone was on separate tickets, and we set a prefixed menu for the party with four choices. I spoke with a manager several times confirming the number for our party, the menu, and to make sure everything was in line. The day of the party they moved us to the dining room because another party "would fit better in the party room", I didn't think much of it. As the first guests arrived they were told they could not order appetizers because it was on on our set menu. As the rest of the crowd flowed in it took over 30 minutes for a drink order. Then the servers changed their mind and started pushing us to order appetizers...which is an obvious sign they were in over their heads. We were told "We can't take your food order yet because there are others ahead of you." Really?! When the entire party is there ON TIME for the reservation it is not the guests fault you are backed up. And you surely do not tell your customers WHY you're refusing to take our order. We waited 2 hours...TWO HOURS...before they even took our order. When the food was served the shrimp alfredo dishes were cold, the meat on the salads were similar to beef jerky, and the chicken breasts were cold and RAW. Their broccolini tasted like gas from the grill. They should have blanched it and sauteed it with shallots and garlic with a little bit of butter if they wanted any flavor. Burnt broccolini is not appealing. The steaks were okay, nothing to write home about. People may think this is McCook's prized restaurant but I have never experienced such an awful situation like that before. No apologies, none of the bad food was taken off tickets, NOTHING. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. Lesson learned...we should have booked reservations at a fast food joint. read more

I'm going to title this review "Cloth Napkins and Styrofoam Plates". Which pretty much sums it up. Food: Started off with apps, Blue Point oysters and Mediterranean Calamari with Pesto. Oysters smelled like fish, not the ocean. Calamari had to be sent back, it was cold, burnt, and mushy with a watery chopped tomato and olive blend dumped on top. I asked about the pesto and was told it was mixed into the tomato blend, but couldn't find it. We were given styrofoam plates to share the apps, and cloth napkins...huh? I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a baked sweet potato side. An HOUR LATER we were told there was only one sweet potato left, so the other guest at my table who also ordered a sweet potato and myself could split it. Bad decision as it was also cold, and mushy. My salad finally came, but the dressing was so watery that it didn't even stick to the iceberg lettuce on the plate. Meals came five minutes after the salad...almost an hour and a half after we ordered, with half the table being served five full minutes before the other half. Service: Waitress seemed new, really was trying her best...but when she came to the table with silverware wrapped nicely in white cloth napkins, then peeled off six styrofoam plates and put them on the table, one by one, that set the tone for the meal to come. After she offered to return the calamari, a man came to table to ask what the problem was. I still don't know who he was, he just showed up. We saw him again later to explain the sweet potato shortage, but still never told us who he was. Can't blame the waitress for the long wait, but no one ordered anything that justified the hour and a half wait. Value: Six people, $162.00 with a few drinks. My chicken sandwich was ten bucks, but have had better at the drive through at Wendy's. Apps were ten bucks each, more expensive steaks at twenty-five. It's a shame that this places passes for fine fining in McCook. It seems like they have all the makings of a good restaurant, but lack the management details. I may return in the future, if the Mexican restaurants are closed, but unless they make some improvements it will be my last time. read more

I had the Cajun shrimp with cheesy grits and my wife had shrimp scampi. Nice sized shrimp. Plenty of food. Average Cesar salad. Wanted to try a steak but not for 28 bucks. Nearly nine dollars for one Irish whisky on the rocks. Might be a once a year treat but not a fave for sure. Every town needs a high end place to eat I guess. And this is Mc Cook's.
