Stand alone restaurant and bar attached to a truck stop. Excellent prime rib (their speciality).

Tables weren't bussed or wiped down. They weren't that busy as it was later in day. We saw a mouse as we were almost finished eating. They did comp our meal but didn't seem too worried about it otherwise. read more

Araceli did a great job and the chicken buffet was great! The Swinging Door saloon was nice and cool on a hot day!

They have Reuben with real meet which very impressive and delicious. The sandwich was a bit greasy (bread), but this probably a personal preference and I should've ask to prepare it without butter or oil. Salad bar was ok. Greetings from the beginning of the Great Plains in Lexington, Nebraska. First, the food was really good (4 to 4.5). However there are a few reasons why I cannot give it a higher rating. When I walked in, three tables were occupied by about 8 people. But, two of the booths were still dirty, as was the floor. Since it was seat yourself, I took a booth nothing in the place for one person) and waited a minute or two before the hostess/server brought me a menu. I ordered a ribeye steak (Nebraska beef), baked (actually steamed since it have the foil on it) potato and the vegetable of the day, which was green beans. I also ordered a local brew called Linkin Up. Between customers dropping food crumbs onto the floor, and the help wiping the tables down, letting the crumbs hit the floor, was a bit too much. They have secured Wi-Fi. But it's so weak, that even in the restaurant, my phone did not accept it because of the poor signal. read more

Restaurant looked a little outdated but don't let that discourage you from trying this great gem! Very clean on the inside, salad bar was kept immaculate and fully stocked. Todays special was a fried chicken buffet. It was absolutely delicious The chicken was steaming hot and the pieces of chicken were very big ( unlike some local chicken chains) The prices were very reasonable for the all you can eat buffet. We are putting this place on our " good places to stop" list for our numerous trips to Omaha. Another bonus I'd third location- just off the highway! If you're driving an RV or any type of large camper there is adequate room to park and easy in and out back out to the interstate. Gas is available just adjacent to the restaurant! read more

Great place my fiancé and I love going if we want to sit down for comfort food and easy to get to go food.

Stopped here for breakfast and we were met and served by the least friendly human we have met in Nebraska. Nicole was rude, short, appeared angry and never even so much as cracked a smile the entire time we were here. She audibly sighed every time a customer requested anything. I can only guess her dog died or something dramatic to be so antisocial. The only reason for the two stars is the food was good despite the horrid service. Tip to management, if you are putting someone in the front counter position, make sure they are friendly and appear to want your business. Would not recommend this location for breakfast if you want to be treated reasonably. read more

So let's give this place a proper review... My husband and I are only staying in town for the night and we are so glad that we stopped here for dinner. This place is NOT a fast food restaurant. Don't expect your drinks and meal all in one fowl swoop TAKE YOUR TIME and enjoy the country home cookin that this place provides. Now on to reviewing the food. My husband ordered the burger & fries. Hope you're not a bun eater because this burger is served on some well buttered toast. Needless to say, the burger tasted great and the fries were perfectly crispy. I ordered the prime rib and have absolutely no regrets. It came with the salad bar, choice of potato, roll, and juice for dippin your meat into. Rolling through town we thought the hell with McDonald's and decided to eat here. WRONG Decision! First off the place is a bit dirty. Food stuck to the salt shakers, tables were greasy feeling floor was unkept. Next up is the poor service... now the place wasn't packed by any means and it just took forever to get a drink of possibly the worst coffee ever n to get breakfast. 45 min for eggs??? We were stranded in Lexington overnight and stayed at the Super 8 next door. We needed to get something for supper and with no car in a town that really is on the other side of I-80, it met the biggest requirement it was within walking distance. I ordered a burger and fries. I was actually surprised that it was really good. The place looks a little run down on the outside but it is great on the inside. Don't let the outside fool you. GO TO McDONALD'S! This place had a dirty floor. There was a bus cart with garbage parked in the front dining room. Turned out there was a nicer dining room but we didn't realize it. Not many options in Lexington for a dine in breakfast. After this experience I'd for sure go with a fast food choice next time. Tables were still a bit dirty when we arrived. But the worst part of all was the terrible service. It was slow. There was no regard for how they held our water glasses. The waitresses were annoyed we were there and didn't even want to take our order. One rolled her eyes at our order and I watched her do it again to another table. This place is pure racist please stay away unless you are white because you wont receive good service. The waitresses there are super racist and only greeted and served people who were white even coming in after me, while I remained ignored and had to flag them down to notice me. No greet, no menu, no normal human treatment. When I was tired of not eating and starving in a restaurant I went up to the counter and said I will pay for my drink but I would like to leave. The waitress rudely said thats a dollar for the drink and I said yeah I just said I would pay genius. Then the cashier said we will waive the fee just go if you cannot wait. I left and the other rude waitress said bye in a rude strange manner. Not sure if Nebraska is one of those white only states stuck back in the 50's but I will never come back and will also share the story on my social media. We just happened to stop for gas and decided to eat here. This is like an old time diner. Food was quite affordable and everything we had was absolutely delicious! I had Poor Man's Stew, Fried cauliflower, chicken strips & fries. Others had a tap/loca beer (Zipline Copper), pork sandwich, and prime rib sandwich. Large portions too. And ice cream. We were passing through on a summer Tuesday and decided to stay in this town. There are a lot of eateries but this one just looked interesting so we ended up here for dinner. It was a seemingly plain and simple truck stop type cafe and I suppose that's what it is but it was great. It was half-full of mostly locals (we know this because diners at three tables struck up conversation with us and they all lived withing a half-hour of the place) and the staff was friendly, fast and efficient. I had a French dip, mashed taters and a salad and Dana had a big chef's salad. The food was great - fresh and tasty and not pricey at all. The people were great and I felt it was just the right kind of place to end a day of travel. As a plus for travelers looking for a quick food stop and pit stop, it is right off the freeway exit, there is a travel store and fuel in the adjacent building so you can stop without looking around for different things. Add to that a WalMart across the freeway and you're all set for anything. I'll certainly eat here again next time through. read more

On visiting relatives in the area we sometimes visit this establishment . I don't know why . It always sounds like a good idea until we step into the place. The service plain sucks and we vow not to come back but then we do, more then likely because there is not much around, I am sure if there was a lot more options this place would not be open. The staff seems to pay more attention to the locals chit chatting then they do with the customer sitting in the back booth . The place is a dump. definitely needs a remodel but since they more then likely don't make enough money that will never happen. For some reason these kind of places don't care to update their establishments . Now onto the food. Its nothing special at all. in fact I usually end up with a "why did I even eat that attitude " . the hash is not good at all and taste something funky. the coffee is horrible they really need to clean the coffee makers. I do say I like the bacon (that's the only reason why it got two stars ) but then again its hard to screw up bacon. I vow not to go back, but I know we will, I wish there was more options in the area. maybe I will just do McDonalds next time, at least our expectations wont be high there at all. read more

This is a great place for a trucker to pull in late. They serve food in the bar til 11:00 PM. They gave me twice as much as I expected with my hot turkey sandwich. Very friendly staff, fast service ,good selection of drinks, laid back atmosphere with several TVs to watch sports. I'm glad I pulled in here. read more

I halfway expected to see the slogan of "Because where the Hell else you gonna eat" on the signage somewhere and while I didn't see that, I may as well have because it's mostly true. Stay in this town and your options, especially if it's the late hour of 6:00PM or *gasp* after, become decidedly limited. We missed this last go-around and felt we should hit it because it was right by our hotel. We walked in the north side, which goes to the bar, The restaurant evidently opens on the west side...nice of them to have signs...oh wait. Forget that sign part. There are none, but most of the stuff is open, so you can wander around a while, I guess. We were tired from the road and well annoyed even before that, so playing mystery restaurant was a pain. Nebraska is corn country, so we tried the fried cream corn things. They were pretty ok...nothing too striking one way or another but a nice change of pace. Mashed potatoes are instant. The fried mushrooms were among the worst I've had. Fries were ok. I got the boneless chicken wings and all of the sides of their sauces. The Gold was basically fry sauce (mayo & ketchup mixed, if you're not from Utah). The Sweet Thai Chili was not so wonderful. The Buffalo was ok and probably the best of the lot and the Super Hot, despite all the superlatives in the menu, was notably not hot but was somewhat bitter. Yay. Drinks were also ok and service was, charitably, ambivalent. Would I eat here again? Sure. Nothing was super offensive and it is one of the few places open in this tiny town on I-80.
