I have not written a review for this eclectic, gem of a dive bar until now because I didn't want my review to be biased and based on the fact that I know the owners/operators and love them dearly. Things have changed for this watering hole recently, however, and it is worth writing about. The Tap Room has now incorporated food into their offerings to patrons beyond nuts, chips, and Tap Room Cheese & Crackers that are a staple at this joint. The grill is officially open and it is a must-try if you are in the area. The cook, Chad, is killing it. The burgers are phenomenal. Homemade patties with delicious seasonings done right. The options on the menu are packed with flavor and they have many to choose from. Be sure to try the TRB if you can handle the kick. My other half says it is one of the best burgers he has ever eaten, and he knows his burgers. The wings... they are served whole, as in not broken down into smaller pieces. By doing this, Chad preserves a lot of the natural juices and the end product is so tender you have to try them to understand. Order the "house" wings the first time you are there. They will blow you your mind. **UPDATE** The grill is no longer open at the Tap Room on a regular basis, but they still do food for special occasions (Bills games, Superbowl, etc.). Sonny B the sister ship is the water taxi up at PIB. Well for many years now at Ashtabula harbor the bum boat is tied up & open to the public fully licensed sit down bar. The owners are really nice. If u love shipping, history, music & dranks, and who doesn't in Ashtabula harbor, get ur arse down to the bum boat & have a blast. The bar manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. It smells from TOP to BOTTOM like straight cat urine. It saturates your skin and clothing... it is legitimately unlike anything I have ever smelled before and I have volunteered at animal shelters. At one time in my life, I had six cats in my home and I have NEVER smelled such a foul stench and odor like this. There is literally a cat visibly walking around this bar (bless its soul) through the dining area and kitchen. There was actually cat vomit on the floor in the bar area. I am still in disbelief that there is a place that is open to the public like this. I will be contacting the health department of Pennsylvania tomorrow. As soon as I came home I showered, and I still feel like I smell of straight cat urine. This is absolutely disgusting and so unsanitary. I am still sick to my stomach.
