Wonderful ride from the Salem Wharf to Boston. You slowly cruise out of the Salem Harbor, turn right and drive across the Atlantic Ocean towards Bean Town. In the morning, you can get coffee and cereal at the bar, in the afternoon, the serve beer and wine. Staff is amazing. Piece of advice: Bring a thick sweater or jacket if you plan to sit outside - it gets chilly and windy, even in the summer time.

This summer we took the commuter rail to Salem to hang out on a friend's boat for the day. While out and about, we noticed this high speed catamaran thing coming in and out of Salem harbor. That was the day that we discovered... The Salem Ferry It leaves from the Aquarium in Long Wharf. It drops you within walking distance of downtown Salem. It is only $18 round trip. It is a flippin sweet 50 minute care-free smooth ride. We took it home that night, and it was fun. They even serve beer on board. You can actually stand on the bow of one of the catamaran(s) and it feels like you are flying through the water at fifty miles per hour. It runs May through Halloween. This summer, check it out. It is a trip in itself. *I do not work, nor do I know anyone who works for Salem Ferry...I just think it's cool.*

Going into town for a RedSox game I have zero interest in driving in, parking, and then sitting traffic to leave. Using the "North Shore Resident" discount the ferry ride in and the subway over was less expensive than a parking spot. Hassle free, food/booze onboard, clean restroom, on time. Could not really ask for anything more.

I appreciated the care that the team took to give the whales some space while they were doing their essential feeding. I do recommend bringing some anti-nausea measures with you.

Several of us who had wanted to be on the top deck were told "if we didn't bored we would have to go to the very end of the line". Then one of the crew members 's said "we just won't go out. We'll stay here.". Again, half the line refused to board all of us awaiting the other two Cruise boats so that we could be on the top deck. The crew became even more rude, making all of us very uncomfortable. The crew finally allowed us to go on the other two cruise boats. When we had bought the tickets, the advertisement had mentioned how it would be going up towards Boston and we would be experiencing the fireworks from all around the Boston area. Very misleading we only stayed in the Plymouth Bay area. Yes, we could see some firework shows from around, but not like what had been advertised. Very disappointing especially with the crew's attitude. Extremely unprofessional.. this made the celebration of the 250th anniversary of America, what was supposed to be a great memory only turned out to be a negative one.

We picked up our tickets at the ticket booth - lady was very nice. Walked on board with our 90 pound golden retriever. A staff person took our tickets and told us where to go for return trip. A second staff person joked about not leaving any dog fur onboard. We select our seats in main floor, inside cabin. Our dog sits on floor between us and looks around, eventually lies on floor. Staff go by frequently. Once we are underway, "Bob," a crew member, leans over to ask us, "didn't anyone tell you that dogs are not allowed inside?" I literally thought he was joking based on the fur comment earlier. He was not. No explanation of why, but he told us we had to sit outside. It was a cloudy, not great morning and we would not normally have chosen to sit outside. We were actually shocked, since every other ferry company we've been on has allowed dogs inside (including the Hy-Line fast ferry out of Hyannis). For the evening trip back, we had to buy a blanket at a shop near the wharf for what we knew would be a chilly trip back. Very disappointed by this policy, and that no where on their website does it say that dogs have to be outside. So yes, dogs are welcome, but only outside. Dog owners beware. We'll make the drive to Hyannis next time.
