I have been coming here for a couple years. Marie is very knowledgeable and is excellent with color treated hair. I've got balayages from her at a very reasonable price (other salons charge upwards of $250+). The salon itself is very clean and still looks brand new. They are not pushy about trying to sell any of their products either, but all the brands they sell are wonderful. I'm new to the area and there's still a pandemic so I was putting off getting a haircut until I absolutely could not take it anymore. I found Salon at 142 via google search and was able to book an appt that week through their online booking system. Michelle was my stylist and I could not be more happy with the entire experience. I called Saturday to make an appointment, I am a brand new client. I was told to come in Tuesday, 1/11, at 2:00. I showed up on Tuesday, door was locked, lights were off, nobody home. I called and left a message. Nobody got back to me. Hours on the door say Tuedays: 11:00am - 8:00pm. Checked the website, hours are the same as the door. No clue. read more

The staff is rude, very rude, especially the new owner. their stylist never stuck around, everytime you go there its new employee day and they have been dealing with the new employee situation. they send their customer back home in cold brutal winters without even drying the hair. I know not everyone needs blow dry every time but a courtesy is at least damp the hair so customer don't suffer out there in the cold. My first time going to Salon at 142 today. Please do not make the mistake of going to this salon. I should have listened to my inner voice when the stylist said she needed the owner to do my bangs when I asked for them choppy. I showed two pictures, one was the basic bob that I wanted and the other was the choppy bangs I wanted. She cut my hair way too short and the line from the back of my head to my jawline hardly has any hair. They also put so much putty in my hair, it looked greasy and I had to request for my hair to be washed again. I know a good cut folks and this is not the place. I never write reviews but I came home so unhappy after paying for this service, I needed to write this review to share with others to avoid my mistake. My husband also got his hair cut there as well. I start going to the Salon at 142 about a year ago and am so happy I found this place! Shauna always does a great job on my hair, and does exactly what I ask. It's so hard to find a stylist that will listen to what YOU want. I also love that you can make appointments via e-mail, pay by credit card & tip on your card too. The salon is modern and clean too. I went there today (many years later) because I had good experiences with a stylist that used to work there. I spoke with the owner Michele via email threads about my concerns and attached pictures of what I wanted to achieve with my balayage. She made sure to tell me the stylist was experienced and "That should be easy to get in one maybe two appointments." After my cut, color and style I walked out of the salon completely disappointed because there was essentially no change to my color whatsoever. Instead of her saying "i'm sorry that we couldn't achieve what you wanted, let me try to make it better" she retorts, "Also, as I mentioned, balayages take a long time to do, they are not like regular foils so most appointments are that long. I am not trying to make excuses at all I'm just trying to repeat what we let you know about the multiple appointments, timing, color lifting etc. " These sound like a lot of excuses to me. I often head up to Billerica for vacation to visit with family, and it is always a good time. I was looking for a Salon to get a few last minute cosmetic things done. I had a wonderful facial, and mani/pedi from Sabrina. She is THE BEST person I could imagine going to. Not only did she do a great job, but she was so funny and endearing. I've been going to The Salon at 142 for just over a year now and LOVE it! Sayda has cut my hair every time and she's awesome. She is everything you want in a hair stylist -- she takes the time to listen to what you want and any concerns you may have, she's very stylish and stays on tops of trends but won't force anything on you, she gives a great wash, cut & blow dry, and her attention to detail is spot on. I made the switch from my insanely overpriced Boston salon to Sayda and have never looked back. I feel that I get the same quality cut so much closer to home and for a fraction of the price! I wish I'd found Sayda and The Salon at 142 years ago -- I would have saved myself a lot of money both in hair cuts and parking tickets! The salon is clean and well-kept, and the staff are all very friendly. The cherry on top? They carry Zoya nail products! I can't say enough good things! read more

I get my hair cut and colored with Michele. I would give her 10 stars if I could. She's everything you want in a stylist...she keeps up with the latest techniques and styles for cut and color and really listens when you try to explain what you want. I've been going there for probably six months or so, and have had several cuts and one color. I wanted a dramatic change but didn't want to cut my hair, so we used color. She talked with me for probably 20 minutes to give me some ideas before we decided to go with a color layer under my natural color, leaving a layer of natural color under it. I'm thrilled with the results, even though I wasn't wild about the way the color turned out. She explained to me from the beginning that you can't predict the way a person's hair will take the color, and my hair had more red in it once it was lightened, so it turned out more coppery than caramely. She knew right away and I didn't even have to ask her to tone the color. When I got home, it was still a bit too coppery for me so she said, no problem, just make an appointment and we'll tone it down some more. She's the best!!! As far as other services I've had at the salon... I got a bikini wax and can't say I was impressed. The woman who did it was great as far as it not being too painful and she was very professional and nice, but she was not very detail oriented...an important quality when you're talking about waxing. read more

First time at this Salon. I was really impressed with the place. It has a peaceful vibe with out being too zen. i brought my teen daughter in for a cut and the stylist (Samantha) was great. My daughter was really happy, as was I. The front receptionist was really nice and very polite too. This is the first review I have ever written. I have been going to this salon for over 10 years and over the past 2 years the salon has gone so far down hill I shouldn't even give it a one. When I first started there they had top of the line stylists who were up to date and modern. As time went by I saw stylist after stylist leaving and people that cut hair like super cuts! My first stylist I had for over 8 years and she just disappeared. I had a new one for a month...gone. And just a month ago I found out that the stylist I have had for the past 2 years is also leaving. I recently went into the salon and every single person is gone that was there except for the owner and one other stylist. So sad to see this happen because this salon was close and convenient. The new additions are clearly not top notch and I won't even let my teenage daughter go there. read more

Sherry has a great personality, she's very easy to talk with and she loves what she does. I can't say enough about how much of a perfectionist she is. I have been going to the Salon at 142 for a while now and I am so happy with the services that I recommend it to my friends...My stylist (Sherry)understands me and always makes me happy. No drama and always great highlights and grays, what grays? Professional and Natural color without the hints of orange or red that my hair tends to have. Apparently, the owner erased my first review (10/13) and I strongly felt a replacement was in order. In a nutshell, they destroyed my long brown hair with bright yellow color/highlights and shattered off 3-4" a month before my wedding. During my visit, another client complained of orange results, they had to redip her too. If you value a professional service, find another salon. read more

The Salon at 142 is a great salon tucked away in a plaza on Route 110 in Westford. The stylists all take lots of continuing ed classes so they are experts in knowing what products/process are best for your hair. Michele is awesome! I would highly recommend this salon! read more

The Salon at 142 is a great place to go to get your hair done! I have been seeing Michele for years, and she is professional and makes you feel very comfortable. She (and the rest of the girls, including the receptionists) are accommodating and very well versed in customer service. When I first started going there, Michele listened to my color preference, and nailed it the first time. I haven't changed it since, I love it so much. My color stays vibrant for a long time and I get compliments on it all the time. The salon is always clean, and although small, never feels over crowded even though it's always busy. read more
