Our mission at The Salon was wedding hair, all 5 of us bridesmaids at the same time. Some got eyelashes, some got make up. We kept the wonderful ladies at The Salon busy on St. Patrick's Day 2012. Monica was my stylist for about a year and I always had great experiences with her. I love the location and the space. Everyone is friendly. Because of how small it is, it's more intimate than other salons, which makes me feel more comfortable overall. Monica is no longer there but my new stylist, Ally, is also wonderful. When Monica left, the salon gave me a complimentary 1-hour facial (which was absolutely amazing) for the trouble. I love Ally, too--she somehow knows exactly what I want and need each time, despite my inability to explain well. Monica was with me when I cut my hair into a pixie. Ally is now with me during the growing out process. I feel beautiful and relaxed after each visit. My experience here was amazing overall! Ally was my stylist and she was incredible. She was very sweet and accommodating always trying to help me relax. I have very thick hair and she was very very patient with it taking her time and making sure everything was perfect. I gave her a picture of what I wanted and she nailed it spot on! After hearing rave reviews from friends and co-workers alike, I finally decided to give The Salon a shot. On Tuesdays they run a special for 1/2 all salon services (except waxing) so I figured this was as good of a day as any to give them a try. I called in Tuesday morning and spoke with a very friendly woman who was able to get me an appointment that very afternoon, I was SO excited. When I arrived, I was greeted by a woman who I believe is the owner, and soon after I was greeted by my massage therapist, Katie. She was so friendly! I got the full body massage and it was amazing, by far the best massage that I have ever have. My experience at The Salon was a very good one, and I look forward to going back after the holidays! Bride had to pay a deposit for wedding party that company tried to keep because of a "policy" that was never disclosed by the company or mentioned on the website. Clearly, the company was being very dishonest. A day or two before the wedding, two guests (who were not a part of the wedding party) made appts but then canceled their appointments because of a time conflict. Although these appointments were made a day before the wedding, were separate from the wedding party and were not used to calculate the deposit, after services were rendered, they claimed that they were entitled to keep the deposit there was a four week cancellation policy. They represented that the four week cancellation policy was explained on the website. However, on the website all they have listed under the cancellation policy is a right to charge if someone misses more than one appointment. None of these individuals had gone to this salon before. There is absolutely nothing on the website about a three or four week cancellation policy or a deposit.Clearly they were being deceitful either by not clearly disclosing all their policies or making them up so that they can get more money. The worst thing was their unprofessionalism and how rude they were to everyone in the wedding party including the bride. In the end, we felt cheated and had to pay more for our hair styles than originally agreed upon read more

I've been going to The Salon for my hair and spa services for three years. Recently I was a part of a wedding party and all of us bridesmaids, the bride, and mothers of the bride & groom, had their hair & makeup done at The Salon. Since I had personally recommended this place, I was hoping everything would go well- I knew I had been happy with all my services in the past and hoped my friends would be just as satisfied. Just as I expected, The Salon lived up to their reputation and everyone was thrilled with their hair and makeup! Not only is the staff very skilled in what they do, but they were accomodating to our whole wedding party as well. A few of us had planned to have our makeup done, but last minute EVERYONE decided they'd like makeup. Luckily it worked with the scheduling where they could fit more makeup appointments in and they were more than happy to do so- The stylists worked straight through lunch ordering in and taking turns breaking one another to eat to ensure we call got done on time. This to me showed true professionalism and putting clients first. I've since been back to the Salon for routine hair care and a spa facial (Katie is fantastic!). I highly recommend this family-owned Salon on the Plaza and will continue recommending it to my best friends and family. I scheduled an appointment for color and cut 6 weeks prior to my appointment. On my appointment day, I received a call 17 minutes prior to appointment with the salon cancelling. I drove 40 minutes for the appointment for a charity event and ended up having to find a place that does last minute walk ins. I will not be returning with my business here. read more

I'm not so much a "salon" person. I basically only enter one for a twice-a- year haircut (I will freely admit that the last time I got my hair cut it was on a whim, at a SuperCuts), so I can't attest to anything like coloring, waxing or any of their other services, but here is what I can say; The Salon: Is accommodating in their scheduling, they always manage to fit me in. Is affordable. For the haircut I get, tip included, I always make it out of there under or around 35 bucks, which is no easy feat for a good lady's haircut in midtown. Is friendly, but not FRIENDLY. Everyone is professional and makes you feel comfortable. The chitchat is pleasant, and I have yet to have one of those uncomfortable "Why is this person talking to me about their divorce/ oh my god she's only halfway done/ just smile until it's over" type situations. Gives good haircut! They really listen to my (minimal) hair needs. They don't push hard on product up-selling, but I feel like I always go home with some genuinely useful tips and info. read more

I've had about 25 facials in my life, in KC and LA. This was, by far, the worst and weirdest facial I have ever had in my life. First, it wasn't a real facial (no extractions), she was rough in her touch and brisk, constantly knocking into the table, the massage was pretty awful, the music she played terribly unrelaxing (the nutcracker), she cleaned loudly and kept hitting the table while I was supposed to be resting during the masque. The salon was loud as could be and heard clearly through the door. I didn't even tip and I ALWAYS tip, that's how stinkin' bad this massage was. I couldn't bring myself to tip at all. read more

I was super excited to try a new salon and reviews seemed amazing... My stylist, Christine actually used the wrong toner and completely lifted the 45 highlights she put in my hair. My hair was medium brown, so it should have been semi blonde when I left, but when I left it was the same color as when I walked in. She apologized a few different times, tried to wash out the original toner and actually tried to put a different toner on, and scheduled an appointment to "fix her mistake" (her words). I had to reschedule due to working the day she set up, I already took off work for her to do my hair once and didn't want to do that again. I even tipped her due to "mistakes" happen and she seemed like she really wanted to fix it and I was very grateful for that. When I got home I had an email to give my experience a review, I gave her 3 stars, explained the situation, and explained how she was extremely friendly. I got an email back from the owner stating Christine said what I wanted was a reach(mind you 45 highlights I should have at least had some blonde in my hair, even if it was super faint) and then told to take my business else where. I was shocked! He was there that day, so not sure why she didn't go to him right then... instead she lied to him and he told me to go somewhere else. I could see this if I was RUDE... I mean I even TIPPED so she didn't think I was mad since she was going to fix it. My mistake! Beware if you have a complaint they won't fix it.... instead you'll be told to go else where. I was heartbroken that I wasn't getting my hair fixed. I have never posted a review before, but posting this so hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would... At least for bridal hair!!!! Although the stylists were good, the management of this place sucks and I would not recommend anyone to get their wedding hair done here. My bridesmaids wanted to get their hair done, so I first tried to get their appointment at the place I was getting my hair done,. But my hair salon was booked, so I found this place close to their hotel. When I called them, I told them that I wanted to make appointments for my bridesmaids. Because I said my bridesmaids wanted to get their hair done, I had to pay a deposit on the cost of the four appointments I scheduled. They told me that it was calculated based on the amt of the four hair services I scheduled. I thought that it was a bit annoying that I had to pay a deposit just because I said it involved bridesmaids, but I was fine with it at that point. About a day or two before the wedding, two of my guests also wanted to get their hair done, so to be nice to my guests, I called the Salon and added them. The two guests that I made the appointments for decided not to go, so when I called the Salon to let them know that the two additions were not coming, they said that was fine and never said anything about a "four week cancellation" policy or that they would try to keep the deposit I paid After my four bridesmaids got their hair done, ( I told my MOH to handle the payment since I wasn't there) they tried to keep the deposit because of the two cancelled appointments. My MOH tried to explain that the four hair appts that were originally made and upon which the deposit was calculated showed up, so there was no reason why they should keep the deposit. They kept saying that they had a four week cancellation policy. How can they have a four week cancellation policy when the appointments were made a day or two before the wedding and you don't have four weeks to cancel? Also, when I made the extra appointments they did not say anything about the cancellation policy or it affecting the deposit. As the bride, I was just trying to be nice and make some appointments for other guests. Who knew just because I said I was a "bride" anyone I called on behalf of would be subject to inflexible, nonsensical policies. But the most disappointing thing was how unprofessional they were. They told my MOH that they were going to call the police unless we forfeited our deposit. They also kept saying that the wedding party was "cheap" since they were trying to use a 20 percent off coupon, although the coupon did not apply to wedding hair. When we tried to explain to them that no one was getting "bridal hair" since I was getting my hair done elsewhere, they kept saying it didn't matter and that they thought I was strange for getting my hair done elsewhere (which I am so happy I did). They also said that if we wrote a bad review they would " write up our bridal party" My MOH called me when all this was going down, they were equally rude and unprofessional to me on the phone. It was my wedding day and the last thing I wanted to deal with was this kind of situation. It seems like there policies are geared towards taking people's money instead of customer service. None of the other vendors I used, tried to charge extra or subject me to special policies just because it was a wedding. But more importantly, they are inflexible, dishonest, and wont really work with you . Keeping a 75 dollar deposit is more important to them than making a bride happy on her wedding day There are other salons that you can go to who wont charge you more or make you pay a deposit just because you mention "bride" or "bridesmaid." The salon that I did my hair at did not make me pay extra or or pay a deposit just because it involved a wedding and were very flexible about changes/cancellations. As a newlywed, I know how important reviews are. Before I chose my vendors, I reviewed each one and did not go to a single one that had a bad review. In the end, I am happy I did that because each vendor I used was great except for this one. The Salon did not have any wedding specific review, so I thought I would give them a try. I wanted to return the favor to other brides and say avoid this place if you can, or at least dont make the same mistake I made and say its for a bride or a bridal party. Unexpected things happen on a wedding day, and I think its always best to have vendors who are flexible and make things easier, not harder. Dont go to the Salon unless you want to pay more just because its a wedding and have bad customer service. They really did put a damper on the start of my day, which no bride wants. read more

My hair has done a complete turn around in the past several months, going from dull, lifeless, split hair with lots of leftover box color in it to beautiful, healthy hair with gorgeous color.
