This was my first appointment and while I appreciated very much the counsel on how to get my hair to match the design I want, I did not expect to cancel a meeting because the "close" clipper cut left a bald spot on my right side. I drove by Salon Expose' while leaving the shopping center on my way home. I have been wishing to find someone who could do a complete foil on my very.very dark three inch roots! I walked into Salon Expose' and was greeted very kindly by the receptionist (I did not catch her name, but as cute and nice as one could be!) As well, a girl named 'Molly' was standing at the reception desk as well. Molly explained that she was 'the colorist' and looked at my hair and was confident that she could achieve the desired light blond color that I was looking for. In this busy salon, I was so anxious to have my hair 'done' I called back in a bit and to my luck, Molly's client was a 'no show' so I was in! Molly took her time weaving tiny areas of hair and foiled my entire head. It was time consuming, but once I saw the results of the bleach/color I was 'THRILLED'. I would suggest to anyone who is looking for a FABULOUS Colorist to keep their 'highlighted hair' looking it's absolute best; Go to Molly at Salon Expose'. Also, as I sat patiently having my hair foiled, I watched the Owner of Salon Expose', a pretty and vivacious gal named 'Kim' give four or five MEN'S HAIRCUTS and Kim was 'meticulous' with the haircuts that I watched her do. Further, every one of her continuous clientele were laughing and happy when they left. This is a FULL SERVICE Salon for men and woman. Pedicures and Manicures are offered as well as just about any type of service that you could imagine having to do with Hair and Nails. Call them if you wish to see if other services are offered. You will not be disappointed with either of these to gals, Very quickly, if you go somewhere and ask for a trim but leave with three (3) inches cut off your hair, then I would gently suggest speaking up to the stylist once she starts cutting too much. Communication is the answer to everything. I have watched clients in salons who really 'did not' communicate clearly with their stylist. I see more often, women sit down in the chair and they switch into 'pamper me mode' "I'd like a trim", does NOT tell the stylist what you want, be more specific and speak up. I have never run into a stylist who was both a 'Colorist AND a Clairvoyant'. I am sure if you could do a search for one, it is just possible that these 'folks' exist, but don't count on it and express yourself and be part of the process every step. read more

I bought a Groupon to Salon Expose' for a hair cut and color and I meant to write this review after my first appointment- but forgot to. I got my hair colored again last night, so here I am writing the first Yelp review for Salon Expose'. Kim, the owner, takes a lot of pride in her salon and her work. I am very critical of salons when they don't cover all of my grays and they always do here. I'm generally low maintenance but NEED to get my hair colored because I have dark hair and a lot of gray hair around my face. I really like the hair color she uses and love that she documents what "formula" she creates for your individual look. That makes it easier to tweak in the future, like she did for me, last night. She only uses Davines brand hair color and hair products, which I have come to love. I also love getting my hair washed there. No one member of her team has washed my hair twice but they all do an awesome job. They thoroughly massage your head when they wash your hair, and it feels SO good. It is almost as good as how you feel when you walk out the door with no gray hair. =) read more

First of all, I am not someone who writes reviews, but I am so happy with my experience with Sam at Salon Expose and I want to share it for others that are looking for the perfect stylist in KC. I have been trying for a really long time while living in Overland Park, Austin and Denver to find a stylist who understands exactly what I am looking for in a cut, highlights and the overall style I want to achieve. I have usually been able to find someone that is good in one area, but not in the others and I had come to expect that outcome. I just moved back to KC last Fall and found Salon Expose because they use Davines products which is the absolute best line out there! I took a chance, made an appointment with Sam and I am so glad I did! She nailed everything that I have been hoping for in my history of salon hopping and for the first time, I left the salon with exactly what I wanted in a cut, color and style. She is extremely detail oriented and a perfectionist who truly listens to what I have to say, She is also very easy to talk to and I genuinely enjoy my time in her chair. To top it all off, she shared with me that she is going to be certified in Hair Extensions this month and I have always wanted to try them out! The best part is that she will be certified in Tape-in extensions, so I can give them a try without the fear of damaging my hair! I love this salon! Samantha does my hair, and I will never go to anyone else. I absolutely love my cut and color every single time. Not only does my hair look great, but Sam gives me great tips on hair care and product use. I am a natural red/brown color but wear it blonde. My hair looks healthy, shiny and natural (blondes frequently struggle with dry, brittle hair from the bleach, but not me! Sam knows how to make it look beautiful). If it ever feels dry, I go in for a deep condition, and I leave looking on point! I get compliments all the time- I highly recommend Sam! Also- I was trying to grow my hair out for my wedding, and she had me come in every 3 weeks for a slight trim to keep the ends healthy. My hair grew so much faster and looked flawless and LONG on my wedding day! Sam goes beyond just a cut and color- she gets my hair looking celebrity status. I have lived in Johnson County for over 26 years and after all this time I have only found one hair stylist that was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, he moved out of town years ago. Not only was it discouraging, it was also frustrating going from one hair stylist to another and not being overly impressed or excited with my experience. I finally decided to do a lot of research these past couple of months but due to so many hair salons in town it was a bit overwhelming. I lucked out finding Stephanie at Salon Expose when I booked a hair appt. with her a couple of weeks ago. First of all, she is not your typical hair stylist. Stephanie shared with me that she has been in the corporate world for many years and after careful consideration, decided to fulfill her passion by going into the beauty industry. It was refreshing to see that Stephanie not only took the time to carefully carefully look at your hair texture, features, growth patterns, she has the expertise to create a unique style that suits your needs and compliments your features. I was amazed that she was able to transform my flat, boring hair style that made me looked older and create a gorgeous style that sassy. She was very precise. Also, I couldn't believe how easy it was for me to style my hair when I got home. Besides that she has a warm, enthusiastic personality that shined through and it was obvious to see that she really enjoys making you feel special. I love this salon and Kim the owner is amazingly talented. I have reccomended Salon Expose to family and friends and they ALL have been very happy with quality of service, attention to detail and over all a very positive experience. My 4 year old daughter had her first hair cut by Kim and she did an amazing job...it is not so easy to cut a little ones hair who is a little wiggly. Kim is so patient and kind and she always does the right things that only a talented stylist does. She knows her product, is very talented at cutting hair and has reccomended some great quality products to me. You are not just a number at this salon and I will be a life long customer. July 23, 2015 -- This review is strictly regarding a "barber" there who does men's hair. She is supposedly well-trained and licensed, but the experience I had says oh so otherwise. I had been growing my hair out since Sept. 2014, with the intention of getting it long enough to be able to brush it back and create a ponytail. I needed several more inches, but around around mid-April I rec'vd notice that my company was going to require us to get a professional business portrait. I needed another cut now to take about an inch or so off so it would still be "longish" but suitable for the pic. WORST HAIRCUT EVER. and I have had some bad ones. this gal not only sheared the back up above my EAR LOBES, but put some "fringe" cut into the ends. and, it was unevenly cut as well. she also left some "dog ears" over my ears. I don't know how she interpreted "take about an inch off overall, keep the basic shape" to "give me the worst haircut you possibly can and make sure it's really uneven all over, with some weird feathering technique at the ends so not only will it not have a proper shape, but will not lay down properly either." Every morning, i'd look in the mirror and think "yep, worst haircut ever." it took from mid-April to just two weeks ago for it grow out long enough that I could get another trim to start working out the damage. that done, it is still a wreck and still not as long as it would have been had she just taken the one inch. the portrait? haven't done it yet and it was due mid-May. so, guys... maybe you have easy hair to cut, like wearing it real short or something. but for those of you who have longer hair, DO NOT, repeat DO NOT, go see this gal. you can't miss her - tall with red hair. This salon is awesome. It has a cool vibe that is chill but still buzzing with energy. The staff is awesome; very friendly and warm. Shampoo was so good I almost fell asleep. It is a great location. I drove from OP and it was a 10 minute trip. The girls are color wizards for sure. They are willing to experiment if you are but are great at listening to you and truly hearing you.
