How very sad!! I have been a customer here for almost 3 years now and 2 months in a row, they have called within less than 24 hours to cancel an appointment which was made a month earlier. Last month they did it with my sister and then called her back to say, my bad, we can get you in. Then today, at 4:41pm Friday, when my appointment is at 9:45am on Saturday, I get a call saying sorry for the confusion, but they have to cancel my appointment and they are booked up for tomorrow. No confusion, I have been booked for a month. I had to force it out of the Receptionist, it is not confusion, it is the person who was scheduled to do my hair is no longer going to be in on Saturday and instead of trying to maybe find someone else, they just say they were booked. I have been in there many times on a Saturday where everyone is just sitting around and there is maybe 3 of in there the whole time. Very disappointing!!! This is one of the worst schools ever. They place favorites and allow bullying and harassment because they still get the tuition and they don't teach much. Yes they are students and you have to sign a release form but instructors are nearby if advice is needed. They explain all the products and procedures before hand. Well worth it!! Okay, I get that they're students and maybe some of them are just out of high school.. but they're so unprofessional, it's wild. Even when they're nice to me, every single time I've been here the students complain and gossip to me about their fellow students and coworkers. Even when I don't respond or try to change the subject / show no interest in what they're saying, they still talk shit about other people in the room. "That girl stole my comb, I know she did." "You see that girl over there? She's messing up that woman's hair bad isn't she?!" "Ugh, there's so much drama here you wouldn't believe" I just want to be like, "Please just focus on cutting a straight line and let me sit here in peace" Every time I leave I'm like, "did that really just happen?" but I usually excuse it because again, they're students. Maybe customer service and manners with clients are a later in the semester lesson? Who knows. Either way, it's like a $20 haircut. So I'll deal with the long wait and weird gossip. Also, the last time I went in, I asked for the same haircut I always get (straight chin length bob + bangs) and the girl cutting my hair kept trying to talk me out of it? She said layers would shape my face better. I said I don't want layers. She said it won't look great on me. I said I don't want layers, I know what I like and she made a bitchy comment like "well if you know what's best why don't you cut your hair yourself." After my jaw fell on the floor she followed with a "HAHA, KIDDING!" She then kept going back and forth some more with me while washing my hair, she had her teacher come over who was like, "just cut her hair how she asked!" I showed her a picture from last year with the . She was like, "oh wow, that's YOU?" Umm, yep. Thanks? This was the first time in my life I have ever not tipped someone. The health department needs to be called on The Salon Professional Academy Melbourne. It is filthy!! While I was getting a service done there were bugs flying around, the bathroom is disgusting and had toilet paper all over the floor. I asked the student doing my service about it and she mentioned that she didn't even have an instructor since they were all either fired or left. So now you have students that have no idea of what to do or guidance? I will never recommend this place. Disgusting and poor students attending there. This place needs to be closed down! read more

I have never in my life been treated like I was by Darlene (the head trainer) she doesn't listen to the client , she is rude, she doesn't know how to talk to people and she doesn't care about what you want to do with YOUR hair. I told her countless times that I don't part my hair down the middle I part it to the side as I have done all my life she said she doesn't care what I do but this is how she is going to do my hair. I argued with her and she told me I was blocked from returning to the salon because I wanted to argue with her. I spoke with a so called educator Dena and she doesnt know what she's talking about and is VERY rude. I was promised to be a hair model but since I use dry shampoo like everyone on this earth I am not eligible to get my grays covered even tho I told them there will be no product in my hair 2 days before. I talked to 2 other people at the salon and they said that isn't true cuz it washes out. I was very hurt cuz I was promised this, and I am on disability with no money. If I could give 10 stars to stylist ALYSSA I would. My hair was a wreck and she listened to everything I needed and met all of my expectations. She was kind , patient and took her time with me and made sure I was happy. She even went as far as providing me very thorough details of each step she was doing before doing it. I already booked my next appointment with her! She is a asset to this academy! Unfortunately, when consulting with whom I guess is one of the instructors there MS. JACKIE- she was rude & condescending ( in front of me the paying customer! ) She had no reason to be- I was happy with the style and had ZERO issues with it. There is a HUGE difference between a teachable moment and degrading your staff in front of clients! Not to mention she was on her cell phone the entire 2 hours I was present providing minimal help to the trainees. What if I was a mystery shopper sent from the company? I could be and you have/had no idea! I mean really! Sheesh! I did come in contact & had conversations with Ms. Jess and she was AWESOME! The COMPLETE OPPOSITE experience from a customers POV. I went to this Academy, because I recently moved here from Fort Myers. I found this same Academy there to be excellent. Here, I got an appointment the day after I called. I went in for a root touchup, which cost $35, which is an excellent price. My student stylist was Makayla. She was just terrific; personable and professional. She consulted with an instructor who saw 2 different colors near my part. That was my fault. I did my own roots twice with a boxed color. Makayla knew the right color to use to match the rest of my hair. She left color on the new color-resistant growth for 30 minutes, then combed the rest through the length of my hair. Voila! My hair was all one color, and the grays were completely gone. After a great shampoo and condition, Makayla did a blowout that made my fine hair look thicker. As I was leaving, I made a return appointment with her. I gave her a nice tip because she earned it. I definitely recommend Makayla! read more

i usually stop by once a week since i found out about this place, when i walked in today front desk person young lady was busy booking a couple of services which i was like yes, more exposure for these budding young ladies, i waited almost 15 - 20 min with no acknowledgment from the other ladies who was sitting and chatting when i did ask if i could get a quick wash, they said no its too late, it had just turn 4:15 i was like it usually take the young ladies like 45 min, i get that we get short staff , i get that we close early but they were very rude? there is one young red headed teacher who is always kind and helpful but she i gather was not there today, i will make sure to go in when she is there. services from the young ladies are always great but the Customer service could be a little better. I made an appointment and went in for summer highlights in my hair. The student who did my hair was wonderful & did as her instructor said. It was the instructor who wasn't listening and I walked out with very dark muddy brown. No highlights left!!! Not the ones I walked in with. Not the new foils I paid for. A dark tone left me with DARK MUDDY brown hair. The instructor told me I could pay AGAIN to have the toner removed & pay AGAIN to have it highlighted. The Instructor argued with me. I tipped the student well & left. Contacting the owner has done nothing. read more

3B African American hair. Super curly but doesn't tangle so it's fairly easy to manage. I've had really good experiences at TSPA locations in Florida but this was the worst! Considerately, they gave me a Black stylist since none of the White students seemed to know anything about black hair [what a waste of tuition money to not learn]. Anyway, the girl tried to detangle my wet hair with a narrow toothed comb!! Every curly girl knows you must use a wide toothed comb. Guess what? This salon location doesn't offer wide toothed combs :-/ I came for a quick blow dry and flat iron. My hair wasn't straight. The ends looked out of place and they had the nerve to still try to charge me $35 even though I complained the whole time. read more

Had a haircut here today, and it was an all-around amazing experience. Kai (Kaitlin) was my student hairstylist, and she did an amazing job. She was very professional, had detailed knowledge of the various products she used on my hair, was precise in her cutting technique, and very dedicated to seeing that my hair looked fabulous when she was finished. I moved to Melbourne recently. Previously I had lived on the west coast of FL and went to Paul Mitchel the school The students were knowledgeable and the instructors were professional and had hands on with the students. Then I went to this school and I have to say that I am really disappointed with both the lack of ability of the students and the unprofessional staff. The teachers are not even dressed professionally and they take little interest in how the students are applying what they've learned. I actually had a teacher look around the corner at my blow out and did a thumbs up without ever asking if I was satisfied or even look at the results. The amount that these students pay for the education is not a minimal amount, they should at least learn the craft. I doubt this is happening at this school. Sad. read more

I've never had my hair colored before but decided I needed a change. Heard about this place from a friend who only gets her hair done here and went from brunette to blonde to Broadway Blue with Times Square Teal ends. Very cool to see the progression. Alex was wonderful to work with as I came in with a small idea of what I wanted (basically just blue hair) and she turned it into this! Thank you girl, you have gained a new customer! She also answered all my questions about how to care for my now beta fish/mermaid hair. It's definitely a community in there, too, I probably spoke to everyone in there over the course of the 2 appointments I had (bleaching one afternoon, color on a different morning). I had gotten my hair cut at the Salon Professional once before and had a great experience. The whole appeal of the place is that you can get a semi-professional haircut for $10. It took a while, but was worth it for the price, and I recommended it to all of my friends. Today, I made an appointment for a haircut. After the student (Lauren, who was very sweet), presented the plan to her instructor, the instructor said there was be an extra $20 charge for "density" and an extra $10 charge for layers, bringing the cost of a student haircut to $50! In 30 years of getting my hair cut, I have NEVER been charged extra because of its thickness, and certainly never been charged twice the cost of the cut itself for thickness. When I pointed out that I had been there before and only paid $10, the instructor informed me that I had been mischarged last time. When I told her that I would just go to a professional salon if I'm going to pay $50 for a haircut, she said they would charge for "density" as well (they won't. They never have.). There is nothing on the website and no information is given when you make an appointment about extra "density" charges. To top it off, the instructor was extremely rude and unapologetic about the situation. I left, and have no intention of returning or ever recommending this place to anyone again. read more

They don't have straight irons They try and overcharge you and the "educators" are rude, unattentive, and lazy. I could go on, but im not wasting more time. One star is quite generous! and to say that I am EXTREMELY disappointed with The Salon Professional Academy is an understatement, I was a student at TSPA and 8 weeks from my set graduation in Cosmetology my husband was given military orders. As his wife, we packed our things and moved across the country to fufil his military duties having to leave everything behind. I NEVER received so much as a letter, or call regarding any bill and received a notice on my credit report that I am now in collections!!! I am STUNNED to know this is how TSPA treats military families, the credit with which I pride myself is ruined. To make things WORSE, I have called TSPA over and over again countless times to resolve this issue. I have spoken to the girls at the front desk, who transfer me to Jennifer in Financial Aid who never answers. I have left her countless voicemails asking to call me back to NO AVAIL. After asking the front desk to let me talk to someone else, I was transferred to Tiffany in admissions on two separate occasions in regards to the matter; who assured me she would have someone from financial aid reach out to resolve the issue. On 6/5/19 I AGAIN spoke to Tiffany who sympathized with me assuring me that she would "hand deliver a note" to another woman by the name Tiffany in Financial Aid. Another week has gone by and I have YET to hear from TSPA. Unbelievable. How am I expected to make payments on this when they can't even bother themselves to HELP ME!!! I am saddened and disappointed to see this is how the Salon Professional Academy runs its business​ and treats military spouses. They park student bills without so much as a call or letter and send them to collections when it is convenient. Heartless. Students looking to come here, beware. read more
