I've paid this location many visits, especially since we moved to Burnaby a year and a half ago. All in all, this store is A-OK. For starters, I do like that the store is spacious. Their sections are clearly marked and usually the racks don't have too many hangers on them, so you can look through them without difficulty. We've found a few things over the years at this location but nothing to knock your socks off. One thing that detracts from their score are the lineups. There's always a lineup when I visit and they move incredibly slowly. Even if you're behind only two or three people it can take ten minutes - that's just too long. Parking is scarce in this area, much easier to take transit - bus loop is around the corner and New West skyTrain station is about a block away. This is the closest Salvation Army to me so I'll continue to visit. They've got a reliable collection of books, plenty of clothing, some games and lots of other odds and ends. read more

Do not recommend shipping here. The cashier, when ringing up your items, looks through everything and decides if she the wants to increase the price of the item, right before you're about to pay. Took it up with their customer service who said that the cashier has the right to do that. Ridiculous and terrible customer service. Not to mention the prices aren't even cheap to begin with. A reasonably sized store with mostly clothes. Paid parking is available in the front. Pricing of items would depend on the person who priced them. Most button up shirts cost $10+ Seen many fake items for a not so fake price. I was able to find a leather jacket as is for $8. The cashier said "someone" switch the tags. Had to convince her that it was the original tag and the person who priced the jacket also confirmed the price. read more

The New West Sally Ann moved into its current space in a renovated heritage building earlier this year. The building was the formerly the BC Electric streetcar/tram barn, and they've done a beautiful job restoring it. However, although this Salvation Army Thrift Store is really big and has lots of windows, they've really done nothing in terms of merchandising or window displays. I'm making a point of that because some of the other locations have always done great displays with much less frontage space. It seems strange they wouldn't use all those windows to show off a little more of the wild and wonderful merchandise. Inside it's pretty typical Sally Ann stuff. Smelly clothes, but groovy housewares, and lots of books and records. There's also some cool furniture and even some electronics.This location is also a electronics recycling depot, so those TVs might just be some of the recycling. Whatevs, it all goes to a good cause. I'd like to go into more detail on finds, but man that thrift store smell drives me out in a hurry. read more

This place has a lot of the same kinds of stuff that you would normally find at most Sally Ann. Their prices are fair, as well as them being pretty much about the same as other Sally Ann Stores and the good news was that I even managed to track down a couple of TV shows on DVD that I wanted to get. ^_^ The couple things I liked about this place is that their store doesn't feel all that crowded with overstocked merchandises due to their enormous amount of store space, about the same size as Value Village, which is a good thing because the other Sally Anne stores always seem much smaller with the same amount of space which would make it look a little bit more cramped, and pretty much everything in this store looked pretty organized. Bottom line, this place is a pretty nice little gem to visit if you enjoy exploring for items without anything too specific in mind. read more

They charge price's worse then retail company's, for example a used couch here is $700 LMFAO and their customer service is horrible they have some really disrespectful female passive aggressive employees. I don't know what kinda drugs these people take or what drugs they need to take but this is no salvation help. read more

This Salvation Army is as large as any Value Village, and just as well stocked. Its so close to the New Westminster skytrain station, and the merchandise can alleviate all kinds of boredom. They have books, records, weird clothes and frames, athletic gear, etc. Not a lot of high end finds however, as pawn shops and antique stores dominate this city. The staff are older and usually very friendly when you need assistance in finding a specific items. They dont claim to be "color specialists" though. However, as said before this restored building looks a bit too plain as these owners really have not done much with it. It seems the trend in the area (the Keg that used to be a CPR station follows suite), but regardless, its the merchandise and that makes the store, not the door. read more

Definitely one of the bigger and better Sally Ann's. They have sales often and if you donate a bag of items they will give you a coupon for $10 off a $25 purchase. Also there is no tax on clothing. Note that they do not have a washroom for customers (nearest washroom is in Anvil building across the street or at the Quay). Some things they can do better are install more hooks/bars in the changing room and improve the lighting (some stalls are quite dark). Another thing is that when they tag the clothes, it can poke a hole in the cloth. There were some instances when I wanted to buy something but didn't due to the hole they had caused. I have mentioned it to them before but it's still an ongoing issue. I attached a picture as a reference. read more

I was in the store and I found a tna sweater. The tag said it was $7.99. There was a stain on it so I asked the person in the front if I could have it discounted. They took it to the bag to check the price, and made me wait like 5 minutes just for them to do that. All whilst this happened, there was a growing line up behind me and a waste of my time as well! They come back and tell me someone took the price off and switched it to another tag, the original tag I saw on it first said ladies active wear and it was in that section too. Not only was there a stain on it, but me and all these other customers were standing there waiting for them to become and tell me it was changed to $14.99. That's obviously an unreasonable price for a damaged and used item, and me and all these other peoples time was wasted because of this. This place has poor customer service and knowledge on it, a lack of interpersonal and communication skills and an unfair overpricing for damaged clothes from a thrift store. I don't even know that the point is I'm going there it's going to be this way. I argued all these points to get the sweater for the original (changed according to them) tag and they still didn't accommodate me as a customer. I would not recommend this place to shop if you're looking for respectful and quality items and customer service despite knowing that thrift stores can be convenient and capable of having this. What I do like about the thrift store is the selection of books and some unique kitchen wares. Sometimes you can find a shirt or skirt that's a good deal but for me that rarely happens. What I do like about the location is the building. I like the old style brick look. They do need more window displays though. Very drab and boring in that respect. read more

I'm a noob thrifter, it was my first time in such a cheap place! & the first thing i saw that i really wanted was this mini guitar... please keep in mind that i have no idea how to play a guitar, it was apart of my bucket list! so in the end i purchased it. It had scratches and 2 strings were missing, but i didn't really mind! I thought it'd be normal for a guitar to be kinda banged up, so i decided to get it fixed. Figured out it was basically impossible to fix. So i had basically paid for something was broken!!! I was outraged and called in and asked the cashier to give me an exchange. And she told me "SORRY, I TOLD U FINAL SALE". First, i don't even remember her saying that! I kept telling her that she had sold me something broken and it wasn't fair because they allowed exchanges on cameras and watches if something was wrong! But in the end i got a hold of the manager and 2 days later i got my exchange. I didn't like the customer service i had received but im happy that at least the manager was kind enough to accept the exchange. I really like looking through the accessory & clothing selection. But the customer service wasn't great, especially for my first experience. read more
