Pretty good, food. Service is what I found is to be expected in London. You seat yourself and go up and order. We didn't wait long for our food and my whole table liked what they ordered.

We arrived in London on a Sunday and we had to have their famous Sunday Roast. By the time we left our hotel we had only a few options. We came to the Sanctuary House by recommendation from our Hotel, and this place both offered Sunday roast and fish & chips. They have a really small dining area where there are wait staff that can serve you. There is plenty of seating , however you have to order your food at the bar and pick it up yourself. Not a deal breaker but for your information. We ordered fish & chips, Sunday roast, Guinness, and sticky toffee pudding. The food was great to experience, however I have tasted better fish and chips in the states. They lo serving peas with it, which did not taste great. Sunday roast was very tasty, but comparable to our pot roast. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious! And their Guinness beer seems stronger, because I was buzzin! Nice place to hang out with family and friends. Bar was not rowdy or too loud. Server and bartenders were very friendly!

I had lunch here with family on a cold windy day outside. This place is warm and inviting and the kids loved the place. Service needs a bit of improvement.

Food and atmosphere was exactly what we wanted in London. Shepard's pie was delicious. Burger and fries excellent. Great service. Interesting to note that you order at the bar and pay in advance of receiving your food. Strange experience, but nice to be able to leave when you want.

During our brief one-day visit to London, squeezed into a near 20-hour layover, we had just a few must-see attractions in mind, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey. To our delight, we managed to see them all! However, I knew we couldn't leave London without enjoying "proper" fish and chips. And wow, did we land at the perfect place! The Sanctuary House Restaurant was just amazing! Its traditional pub-like ambiance, extraordinary service and the spectacular food transported us into the heart of British culture. And oh, the fish and chips -- the crown jewel of British cuisine, were nothing short of heavenly! Deliciously light and crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside! Yum! My wife enjoyed the incredible squash and sweet potato pie! Each dish was a work of art in presentation. From our incredible meal to the outstanding service The Sanctuary is an experience that will linger in our palates and our memories. If fate brings us back to London, we will surely want to return! Highly recommended!

A proper pub. We stopped here while in the area and the menu is very good at capturing the "British Experience". We had the Yorkshire Pudding (hint for Americans: it's called a popover or biscuit in the US) with potted beef (it's basically a small ceramic of chopped beef with onions). We were here during a Christmas-Eve holiday, so I am not going to review as to how everything else. We were hungry and this was a proper British meal in a British Pub. I added a pic of the Yorkshire with the Potted Beaf

This is a cute spot on the corner near Westminster Abby a great little stop beautiful interior and exterior. They're known for their pies but they have an excellent afternoon tea till five.

We got the pie sampler and it was delicious! Great pub atmosphere and service was fast as you order at the bar.

Around the corner from our hotel, we stopped in for lunch on our last day in London. It has this super authentic London pub/historic site feel to it which was a big draw. We were seated right away by this lovely gal who was also our server and she took our drink orders. We had pies... of course, particularly given they tout they have amazing fresh pies. The hubs got the steak pie/mash and I got the veggie pie/chips. Oh my they were SOOOO good! Even the steamed cabbage/beans was delicious. My husband had gotten the steak pie from the Feathers up the street two days prior and he remarked that the steak pie here was far more tasty and flavorful. I have to say my veggie pie was chock full of flavor and I ate every bit of it. Definitely a fan and by the looks of how busy it was I am guessing despite the mixed (and older) reviews that many others are fans also!

Steak pie. Appears larger in picture than real life.

For a place that has ale & pies written all over, I would have expected better pies. I had the steak pie, which was good but small. At first we thought maybe they brought us the sample sized one, but no it was the correct one. The place itself it nice enough but not really different than any other pub of this style. A decent place to stop in after or before visiting Westminster. The service was terrible. The three girls working didn't seem to have any interest in the job. I've worked as a waiter and didn't care about any of my customers either, but I managed to pretend I did when interacting with them.

What a delight for an American. Recommend from my hotel the St. Ermins, of course plenty of other locations nearby to try. I thought that the service was fast and friendly. The suggestion on "pies" appropriate, and I chose the hamhock pie. It was delicious and filling, especially for a lad like me. Find a table first (tip) and then order at the bar. I arrived at 4:30 ish and still some tables to grab. Nice selection on tap and bottles. Also good variety on food. Free WiFi, under Fullers. I'll be back to this friendly joint, quite the crowd after work.

Breakfast bar, everything was very fresh and they took care to maintain it

Stayed at the hotel, which was lovely, and ate at the pub every morning. It's a beautiful building, quintessential British pub, and a fantastic location. We found the food to be pretty good every time, fresh and with good service.

Service was terrible. The waitress didn't pay any attention to us and it took forever to check out and pay our bills.
