My journey with OFF LEASH K9 TRAINING began when I chose them after extensive research on the best company to train our first two huskies at Colorado. Everyone had told us that huskies can't be trained because of how stubborn they are. People would call us crazy for even owning TWO HUSKIES. Our life was a mess because we couldn't build the communication ourselves. Thank God we got Gustavo as our dog trainer to prove everyone wrong. He built a clear communication between us and our dogs. Which has led everyone to turn around with amazement to watch our dogs have an excellent recall upon hiking. To have an extended down when going out for a coffee or to walk next to us when going to the stores. Happy with the results, once I moved to Texas I recommended my family, living in Texas with their two yorkies and a husky, this company. The results were off from what my two huskies had with Gustavo at Denver Colorado. Which led me to drive TWENTY HOURS to give Dracarys, the new member of our family, the opportunity to be trained by Gustavo at Denver. He trained Dracarys to be calm, obedient, patient and to follow all the commands diligently plus he also gave me a refresher for the husky trained with off leash in Texas. Gustavo is fluent in English, Spanish and he happens to be a dog whisper as-well. He explains how the dog thinks and acts in a very easy to understand manner. He has well organized thoughts which has led me to be able to instruct my dog on what it is that I want from him without creating any confusion on the dog. He gives you the confidence to be able to ask questions. He is honestly a great choice for your dog. This was a stark contrast to a "professional trainer" (I will NEVER do business with nor recommend Canine Dimensions, particularly Summer Rhodes) who basically told me: (1) my puppy's behavior was beyond unnatural, and (2) I was not the right person for this dog, which was devastating to hear. Everything from Pomeranians to Labrador and Golden Retrievers and every breed, temperament and personality in between. It's easy to find trainers but it can be really hard to find a GOOD trainer! Over the years, we've spent thousands on dog behavior veterinarians, breed specific trainers, and your basic pet store group classes. All of these can work for some dogs, but not all. We lost our two black Labrador brothers this past summer to age related health problems. We were completely devestated. We didn't know if we could do it again until Jack decided for us. Jack is a male Bichon mix rescue, but who rescued who? Jack rescued us - literally ! When we got Jack home we wanted to start out on the right foot immediately. We used two online trainings - waste of money and time. We asked, searched and found several self-proclaimed and "guaranteed results" trainers. You had a time limited training. From past training experiences, if your dog didn't learn everything in that timeframe you were left feeling frustrated and confused as to what to do next. Then we found Adrienne at Bark Busters. We have a…read moreShepherd/Cattle Dog mix (high energy, high intelligence), and before meeting Bruce, we had tried multiple trainers, most of whom were only okay. Initially, we knew some basic commands, but the biggest struggle we could not overcome was our dog's obedience or reactivity concerns. Before Bruce, our dog did not do well with other dogs and people on walks, and guests couldn't come to our home due to fear of being accidentally hurt by him. Our lowest point was when our boy bit a lady at a local Farmer's Market, where we were attempting to do some training with him, and he became startled. We utilized as much of the training we had worked on with other trainers, but it wasn't enough. That's when we called Bruce. Here's our experience: at the initial meeting, we were very impressed with Bruce's resume and we could tell by his skill-set that he would be able to turn our boy around. Bruce had over 15 years experience working with dogs who were relinquished due to aggression or behaviors at a local humane society, turning them into confident, obedient and adoptable dogs. Not to mention, he also trained in Germany for 3+ years overseas with a military-style training for police dogs. Bruce uses a combination of high-drive reinforcement and timely corrections One thing to keep in mind though, you get out what you put in. If you aren't willing to do the work, Bruce might not be the right guy for you. We were pretty motivated and found a lot of success with Bruce. Within the first few sessions, we saw noticeable changes in our dog's behavior; he was gaining confidence through the consistency and training Bruce taught us about. Bruce's ability to fine-tune all the mixed signals we were giving AND giving us detailed explanations of why they were important to correct, completely changed everything for us. He even explains the science behind some of the techniques, which we appreciated. Our closest family and friends knew all the struggles we had experienced with our boy before Bruce. They have been so impressed with how much progress our dog has made. We would absolutely recommend Bruce to anyone needing dog training.
