ACUPUNCTURE BILLING FRAUD…read more I was quoted $120.00 for an acupuncture appointment with ALex . First I called and their receptionist quoted $120.00 and then the day of the Aptmt. 8/29/24 at the front desk before the appointment I was quoted $120.00 would be billed to my Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance (I had also checked with BC/BS prior and they said my appointment will be covered; yay...what great news; our traditional insurance will finally cover acupuncture. I got the bill and TOTAL health systems took advantage of my insurance and charged over $300.00 for this $120.00 appointment. They charged an additional $120.00 for an office visit (I didn't have an office visit; I had an acupuncture visit. They are double dipping on the billing. Then they charged an additional $85.00 for a 15 minute time (during the $120.00 session) for plugging in the electrical current which I was NEVER asked if I wanted that extra service and NOT told it would mean billing my insurance an extra $85.00! I called the Washington Twp., office and spoke to Barb the manager who didn't think there was anything amiss with lying to me about the total costs or doing a BAIT and SWITCH to the customer. I requested to speak to the CLinical DIrector and Owner Aaron Lundgaard and he didn't even bother to do his job and troubleshoot my complaint. Instead Barb said to me she told him about it and his answer was there is nothing wrong with how this was billed? I am the customer who was deceived by shady business practices and Aaron replied he saw no problem. If I don't hear back from Aaron this week I intend to file a formal complaint with our Michigan Better Business Bureau. I live in Washington Twp. and am very active in the community...sadly I will share my experience with our community in a variety of ways to warn people of these shady business practices. Very disappointing this business will ruin it for future expansion of alternative health care with their greed and taking advantage of sick clients like me. Total Health Systems have committed FRAUD in my case and have shown no regard when I called this to their attention. UNfortunately I also did not benefit from the acupuncture I received from ALex; I saw no improvements whatsoever. However, Alex is very nice, kind and empathetic but needs much more practice placing needles without pain. I have received acupuncture from a variety of practitioners and know what results can be achieved. Worse yet 1 out of every 3 needles Alex placed were painful. A good acupuncturist knows how to place almost all the needles without pain. The goal of this complaint is to warn others about their shady business practices from deceiving the customer of their billing practices and to create a change with this problem. The receptionist needs to be up front when asked the price; by saying there are two prices. They have 2 prices one for the paying customer and one for your insurance. I will never do business with a greedy deceitful place like this thanks to poor management, training, price gouging and lack of response from the owned when you have a problem with billing. Another review is written below telling of the same inflated billing. If there was a zero star I would check that. I highly recommend Cory Arnold as he is personable and understanding of my pain and explains everything as I do the motions. He is currently training a younger student (I can't remember her name) and she is doing great too. I have had two other ladies Clara and I think Mary was her name. They were fantastic with helping to stretch and massage the muscles for me. I needed that badly. I highly recommend them all.

This one in 30 Mile Rd., in Washington is the closest to my house. The day prior, I called to confirm that my information was in the system and that they had all the information about what I was having done. Needless to say, what I was having done had never been done at this location before. Wow. I was going to be a "first" for them. After the employee checked with her supervisor, it was confirmed that my blood draws could in-fact be done at this location. I was informed to come in when they opened at 8am, as my samples needed to be send out immediately after at the 12pm pick up. I arrived and this is when confusion began. The ladies were very unknowing about what I was having done. Again, my procedures have never been done at this location before and they weren't even sure that could do my draws here. After 30 minutes and many phone calls on their behalf to the Henry Ford in Detroit, all was sorted out. I wasn't upset, by any means or frustrated. I knew this was a big deal and was certain my advocate would sort it out, which she and the Dr. at the Detroit location did. I had a LOT of blood drawn. Jenn, was amazing. She was careful and kind and repeatedly asked if I was ok and/or feeling ill or uncomfortable. I took it like a champ. Everything got taken care of, even if there was a few hiccups I still rate this location very high and would recommend.

When I damaged my lower…read moreback I was desperate to get relief, I'd gone to places closer to where I lived over the years and found there are different techniques to address spinal well being and along with that comes schiesters only out for your money and to bill your insurance to the hilt. I went to Macomb chiropractic for a while and got limited results after several years, they billed my insurance for a "diagnostic exam" my insurance deemed experimental. Through simple conversation I divulged info about my car insurance company and they contacted the main company trying to bill my auto insurance claiming I'd been in an accident and that test was related , which made my rates sky rocket and eventually switch insurers and straighten out that mess. Doctor Jim Agrusa is so far above and beyond those types. After only 4 visits my lower back hip region was showing longer lasting results than just 2 days and after I reached my insurance covered limit his office offered other payment plans for continued treatment. In less than a year I went from 3 adjustments a week to 1 every 2 weeks then once a month or as needed , I went 3 years pain free by following Dr Agrusa's follow up care stretching instructions, as pain relief and helping people live better lives is more important than milking insurance companies and bank accounts. Dr Agrusa is the best in Michigan and can handle even the grumpiest of patients (case in point...)

I spoke to my Father in Law and he told me about Dr. Agrusa and I have been seeing him for nearly three years now. He is a very good Chiropractor, one of the very best that I have been treated by in my life. I have been remiss in not leaving a review for him before now. I have referred so many people to him over the last 3 years and to a person, everyone I sent he has been able to help without exception. I was telling someone this morning about him whom is in pain and when I looked up his address to get him there Yelp came up and I realized I had not left him a review. If you are hurting and in pain, if you go to a Chiropractor regularly or have never been. You need to do yourself a favor and see him. His Staff is top notch and rarely if ever is there a wait, he is on time with his appointments and has managed to work me in a few times when it was really important. See him and you will be glad you did!

I get that it is my mother's responsibility to know what her insurance covers and not but who really knows every detail of there insurance. At every other office we have been told about this much for copay deductible etc. At this office we were told about 20 dollars a visit. Over two months later I get huge bills from another company, apparently the billing company, that I wasn't expecting if I was answered correctly in the beginning I would have planned accordingly. Terrible service. The techs seem to do all the work. It seems either too busy because people show up for appointments late or overstaffed because the schedule is done poorly. There are so many therapy places to choose from I would not recommend this one to anyone, very poorly managed.
