First off I need to admit to y'all that I'm a Starbucks girl through and through (born and Seattle raised and transplanted to Canada about 14 years ago). Phew, okay.. Now onto Second Cup. This location has friendly staff, an efficient drive through, and they even give you free copies of the Newspaper! Lots of glass windows for natural light if you'd like to have your coffee inside and an overall pleasant atmosphere. Also if you are going to be a regular be sure to download their smartphone app so you can collect points towards free drinks and even receive special offers. This is an awesome Second Cup. I love the layout of the tables and chairs, no matter where you sit it always feels cozy. This is a great location for studying, meeting with friends, or just going to do the crossword puzzle. The drinks are always made to perfection and the staff don't roll their eyes when you make special requests or double check that they used sugar free syrup. The staff are definitely a highlight here as they are unusually helpful for a coffee shop and very friendly. My favorite summer drink is the Italian Soda! I agree that the outside patio is not ideal. It is in an awkward space and sometimes you are breathing in exhaust fumes when you want to be enjoying the sunshine. However that drive thru does come in handy when you just finished at the gym and don't want to go inside all sweaty! read more

I can't remember a time when this Second Cup didn't exist. I love it here. I agree with the other reviews that say the patio is not in a good position... but at least they have a patio! There are so many windows that it's always filled with natural light. The drinks are always made perfectly and to whatever specifications your little heart desires. Now... the real shining stars at this location. THE STAFF. They are super amazing. Very friendly and they clearly love their jobs. They never seem annoyed or overwhelmed. They are there to make you your beverage, and maybe chat a little. There are never boxes of unpacked product hanging around, clogging things up. Which is a complaint that I often have at other locations. Although I'm sad that we only have 1 Second Cup left in town, I'm glad that this location is so inviting. read more

This might just be my favourite Second Cup in the Edmonton area (but as a St. Albert girl born and raised, I might just be biased)! The staff here are great, and always try to get through multiple customers in the line-up at a time. The drinks come quickly, and they always make sure to ask if you'd like it in a to-stay mug (three cheers for the environment). I love the Espresso Chillers and nanaimo bars! My one criticism? The patio is awkwardly positioned between the cafe and the drive through, meaning your outdoor conversation is constantly interrupted by car engines in summertime. read more

This is one of 2 second cups in st Albert and I visit both. This location has a great patio and cafe. Comfy chairs and newspapers make you feel like you're in someone's living room. The patio faces south so you get a lot of sun. The funny thing is that the drive thru goes right around it so if youre lounging you do hear the order being taken by the staff. On that note the staff do a good job taking and making your order. I went back and asked for more ice in my iced coffee and got it no questions asked. I like a few of their food items but they are usually over priced and just go into a microwave to be heated. read more

Today I visited Second Cup for the first time and I can ensure that I will be returning again soon! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I was having a difficult time connecting to the internet with my laptop and the staff assisted me by restarting the router and made me a delicious coffee. The vibe here is great. Second cup will always be one of my favourite coffee houses, I used to work there and I know how everything is made. I have no problem with the coffee, or there food. But since there has been new management and all of the old girls quit, it hasn't been the same for me. They really knew what they were doing, and I know that it takes time to learn everything, believe me- but twice in the last two months, going through the drive through and trying to redeem free drinks has mysteriously taken 500 points off of my app each time. I know the glitch, I know how it happens, and both times the girl in the window has tried explaining to me something that makes absolutely no sense, just talking away trying to confuse me. When I have 1200 points, and I want to redeem 1000 on two drinks, and you scan my card 3 times to try to get them and then tell me I can only redeem 1 because I don't have enough points- I know that you didn't click on the drink before clicking on 'redeem free drink'. I'm sorry, but the new girls need to be trained a bit better in customer service and fixing their mistakes. read more

2017 Dec 01 at approximately 9 am I took my mom for coffee as my dad was in the local hospital. My wife and I stop in and get our coffee beans here once every few weeks as well as drive through the drive thru quite often to grab coffee on the way to our kids hockey games and practices. I will say that generally speaking we are very satisfied with the customer service here. However on this morning, we walked in and the girl working was apparently busy whipping through orders, after standing at the till for a minute she finally acknowledge our presence and asked what she could get us. I gave her our order and she continued making drinks and got our order ready. I saw that it was busy as a result I said I see that your quite busy, I then asked her if she didn't mind when it slowed down if she could ring in two pounds of coffee with my order, and grind me up two pounds of coffee when things slowed down for her as we would be staying for the next 20 minutes or so. She rudely said I'm really busy with the drive thru, and I politely said I realize that no rush but if you don't mind ringing it in now and get to it when things slow down for you, she refused and said I won't take your money right now, you can come back when things slow down and I said it made no sense for me to wait in a line up a second time and if she wouldn't mind ringing it through now and get to it when things slowed down, she then ignored me, rudely said that will be $ 7.47 and handed me the debit machine and didn't ask me for my rewards card which I was clearly holding in my hand along with my debit card. It was obvious the customers at the drive thru were more important than my business at the till. I tapped my card and my mom and I had our coffee and muffin for the next 30 minutes or so. A second girls started a few minutes later and appeared they were caught up shortly thereafter. . At no point did she come over to us and ask if she could help us, or maybe take my order now. As a result when we were done I walked out past the till with no line up and out to my car without getting my coffee. Based on this experience I think I may drive 50 meters across the lot to the starbucks from now on. It's a shame how the rudeness of one employee can wreck numerous years of customer loyalty who spend approximately a $100.00 a month in a store. I hope the owner reads this and at least addresses some customer service training with this particular employee... read more
